High traffic areas are always the hardest projects when it comes to flooring upgrades. This leaves the question of which material is the best to choose.

For those that love hardwood, but can not bring themselves to use it in high traffic areas in the home, there is some good news. Try oak hardwood. It is one of the most durable options out there and not only does it add a classy touch to any home, it does double duty as a tough surface for the kids, pets and constant company.

Hardwood is supremely popular for many reasons, but some species of hardwood have a fatal flaw – they do not do well in homes with pets and kids. However, that does not have to rule out hardwood if that happens to be a long held dream, not when oak hardwood is an available choice for classy, yet durable, floor. It is also good for increasing the resale value of a home.

Oak has won a spot in consumers hearts thanks to its classic elegant, yet understated quality of being the best kid on the block when it comes to adding a touch of fancy, charm and warmth to any home. It comes in engineered hardwood and solid hardwood forms. The choice, usually based on budget, is up to the consumer. One very appealing bonus is that the number of species of oak on the market allows for a wide variety of colors and looks.

Red oak has a hardness rating of 1,290. Red is hugely appealing to many homeowners for its unique gloss, shine and coloring, ranging from pink to red tones. Its classy grain patterns are also very exciting and do well in any room, as an accent or laid from wall-to-wall. In short, red oak is a workhorse of sorts and performs like a pro anywhere YOU want it.

White oak is the hardest oak, with a Janka hardness scale rating of 1,360. Just think of the serious style that floors would have with white and red oak as compliments to one another. Contrast white oak with the red and a home’s wow-factor shoots through the roof. While oak has a finer grain and a more defined pattern, it may be stained to any chosen color, or left to make a statement about simplicity. It’s up to the homeowner what to choose when it comes to oak flooring, but the choices are stunning and add lasting beauty to any home.

As an environmentally friendly approach to renovating a home or redoing flooring, eco-conscious flooring is an exciting and green way to perfect a living space.

Flooring choices for environmentally conscious homeowners were once very limited. Today, however, the sky is the limit, or rather, the imagination is. Just about any type of green flooring conceivable, from bamboo to rubber to concrete, is readily available. A home can be a modern showcase of flooring that neither harms Mother Earth nor costs an arm and a leg.

But is concrete actually an indoor flooring option? Oddly enough, yes, concrete is becoming a very appealing choice because of its range of colors and the ability to customize, by stamping patterns into it or even using a circular saw. Color is not a limitation, as paints, stains, and dyes can create a whole spectrum of desired shades and hues for any given room in the house. But the major selling point is its durability. Even the relentless traffic of kids, pets and visitors can’t wear down a concrete floor.

If concrete is too bold an option, bamboo or even cork flooring are wonderful alternatives. They are not easily shredded and are far more resilient that people realize. For instance, bamboo is actually used as an alternative to hardwood and according to flooring experts, it is actually studier than hardwood. It appeals to homeowners who want their flooring to be both biodegradable and recyclable. Plus, bamboo has a renewal story that cheers that hearts of most green conscious people. It is rapidly renewable in its natural environment and, although light colored, it may be dyed or stained. Its ease of installation makes it a big hit with the DIY crowd.

Cork flooring, meanwhile, has an enviable reputation for being biodegradable, renewable and recyclable, also coming in a huge range of colors and sizes. No matter what the project, there is a suitable cork option. Installation is a snap and the finished product is appealing for several reasons: it acts as a natural thermal insulator, reducing heating costs, and is a comfortable surface to stand on.

Believe it or not, anyone can use eco-conscious tiles to create a floor of their choice. For instance, a creative renovator can lay cork and bamboo in a variety of ways. Experimentation is one of the best motivators for a unique floor design, so try using tiles creatively, mixing and matching, using thin and thick to contrast and using various colors.

This is not to say it is impossible to go wildly overboard with tile choices, but trying different approaches can make rooms come alive. Drawing out a pattern before actually laying the tiles can help avoid regrets once everything is glued in place. A tasteful, creative approach can make eco-conscious flooring into a beautiful part of the home.

Dazzling kitchens capture the viewer’s eye and heart.

“It’s true, marble in the kitchen is one of the most attractive, elegant stones you could possibly use to upgrade your personal cooking space,” says Dean Dupre, owner of Champion Marble & Tile in Clearwater, Fla. “Kitchen countertops in particular are spectacular done in white marble.”

Marble is a much sought after stone for a number of reasons, but its main attraction is the uniqueness of the erratic veining that provides an inner elegance that homeowners love. Marble feels like an old friend, yet still holds the power to become a new acquaintance when it comes to improving the home’s interior. The Greeks and Romans used it to good effect and of their creations still standing today, all look breathtakingly beautiful. There is no reason the modern design eye should see it as just a stone for the fireplace hearth or mantel.

Installing marble in any room provides a showcase for this mysterious stone to show off its inner light in a softly reflective manner. Honed marble almost glows in the dark and has an eerie, yet elegant look. “I have heard many of my customers say that marble almost seems to have a life of its own,” Dupre adds.

Trending kitchen upgrades tend to include marble as a backsplash, a countertop or both. The ambience is incredible when smartly paired to compliment wood graining in the cabinets and/or flooring. For that incredibly crisp and authoritative appeal, white Danby, Carrara or Calacatta marble fit the bill. It is considered to be high-fashion and versatile enough to appeal to both modernists and traditionalists.

Although marble holds incredible appeal, it should be noted that it does require more maintenance than other stones, due to its softness. Extra care must be taken to avoid staining and scratching the surface. “If you want marble in the kitchen, choose a harder stone,” advises Dupre. “In general, darker colors are harder and the lighter marbles are softer. If you want a more durable white marble, choose the Danby white, sourced from Vermont. However, you still need to take care not to stain and scratch it.”

Recycled flooring is trending, and has been for a long time. It is eco-conscious, looks stunning, is easier to obtain than it once was and is affordable. Affordable, that is, with one caveat. It is only inexpensive or nearly free if one gathers it for personal use, say from a gym floor or old church, and uses it as found. For reclaimed wood that has a finish that would look great in a living space, expect to pay more.

Self-reclaimed wood is not always ready to be nailed down either. Most of it comes with nicks, gouges, staples, nails, glue, screws and all the other things that originally went into making it what is once was. It takes time to clean these boards up and make them look passable enough to be used in a home as reclaimed flooring. The only way to get wood that looks good as new is to buy it from an outlet that has already done the work needed to make it acceptable for use for flooring.

Aside from reclaimed flooring, solid wood flooring, the old standby, is still a great option when upgrading. It is not laminated and is ready to be laid down right away. While somewhat expensive, much of it comes at a price that is competitive with reclaimed wood.

Engineered wood is another option, but consumers should keep in mind that it is layered plywood backing with a chosen top layer of wood, hence the lower price tag. It’s durable flooring and would suit those with a tight budget.

In general, solid wood flooring may range in price from $4 to $9 per square foot, with a higher price usually indicating a higher quality wood. Engineered flooring may range from $7 to $15 per square foot. No one should let the price of flooring be a bar to their dreams though, because even if doing a whole room in the wood of choice is out of the budget, there are certainly ways to get creative and use it just in key areas or as an accent.

Anyone on the hunt for wood flooring should sharpen a pencil and do some fancy calculating. Exercising a bit of imagination in using the chosen wood can easily yield stunning results.

DIY-ers love doing tackling projects around the house. If tiling is next on the list, it will require research and care.

Tiling is not as easy as it looks. House, home and hearth need professional installation and finishing to look stunning. Those wishing to install tiling themselves should strive for a professional understanding. Read and study proper techniques. A poorly done job becomes a massive expense very quickly, especially if flawed grouting and sealing are involved. Installers can run out of tile because a job was not measured properly or tiles broke, then be unable to find a matching unit for replacements. Mistakes damage durability and jump out at the eye.

Experience in placing and fitting tiling is a major advantage. Start with a draft map design laying out the precise desired result. A reference keeps installers on track.

Rethinking the idea of tiling a bathroom or kitchen independently? It never hurts to ask a professional flooring expert for assistance. Many are happy to answer questions, and all are happy to step in and complete the work. The extra expense also buys confidence: the homeowner will know for a fact that the tiling will withstand just about anything.

Tiling is an investment in a home that makes it look the very best it can. A professional flooring contractor’s services are among the best investments to further that goal.

Radiant in-floor heating is very popular. To install it properly, you need to choose the flooring above it wisely.

Radiant heating is omni-directional, moving in all directions and heating indirectly. Installers need to understand how the system works when installing different kinds of hardwood in a home.

The installation of this heating requires sinking tubing into concrete or tucking tubes underneath plywood sub-flooring. Homeowners need to be aware that radiant heating causes hardwood to dry out. If a person wants to have both hardwood and radiant heat, bamboo flooring will be the best option. Bamboo weathers heat well and is not troubled by variable humidity. If choosing bamboo, be sure to find high-quality, older bamboo and evaluate its maintenance needs before you purchase.

In installation, make sure to use glue, not nails. With nails, installers run the risk of rupturing the embedded heating coils. Floating bamboo, which is durable and stable, is the best choice to partner with radiant heating.

Take care to not install hardwood right on top of heating coils. You need a barrier between the floor and the heat source. The recommended thickness for a plywood barrier is two thirds of an inch. The wood is not just a barrier. It also supports the floor planks, offering more stability.

Once installed, the floor will need at least three days to adapt to heating cycles and shifts in humidity. Ideally, heat the floor slowly and keep the heat at a steady temperature below 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bamboo makes impressive flooring and withstands radiant heating very well. It may be the perfect solution for an eco-conscious homeowner.

Most people think tiles are for the floor. These days, tiling the wall is the hot new trend.

When new trends hit the market, you tend to see a lot of homeowners rushing out to try the latest fad. Right now, the hottest trending new idea is to tile walls. According to a number of real estate agents, properties with elegantly tiled walls are selling very well. And why not? The tiling slabs add a whole new dimension to a home or office and the good news is that they can withstand pretty much anything.

The ability to stand up to whatever is thrown at it is the hallmark of a sturdy wall slab. Homeowners should consider this when tiling walls of areas such as the kitchen, laundry room area and bathroom. Tiled walls definitely create a unique look, and with the wide variety of colors, tones, patterns and shades on the market, there is a whole lot of latitude in creating just what you want. Hands down, tiling a wall beats painting it, when you consider that the minute paint comes into contact with the moisture that touches it on a daily basis, it begins the long, slow process of disintegration.

For those creative souls that love to design a room around a theme or hand-paint their own slabs, this newest way to make a room stand out is most welcome. Additionally, tiling walls is a much cheaper alternative than some other options out there. For instance, if you want to save some serious money, consider using ceramic wall tiles. They’re not only cost-effective, but they’re also attractively durable and they are not hard to keep looking good. It helps that they are also water-resistant.

If your budget is more generous, then you might gravitate to slate, granite, marble, quartz or travertine. The choice is yours for each room. For instance, try granite in the kitchen, marble in the bathroom and travertine for the study. The sky’s the limit when it comes to installing tiling on your walls. This is one trend that will definitely increase the resale value of your home.

During renovation, many homeowners are drawn to ceramic tiling. Tiles are suitable not only for flooring, but also for counters, tubs, sinks and even walls.

Ceramic tiles offer beauty, flexibility, texture, color and value. Moreover, ceramic is exceptionally durable. Tiles have survived the test of time for centuries. Some have been recovered in sound condition from ancient Egyptian and Roman ruins. Your home will hardly need to become an ancient ruin for its tile to be appreciated. Ceramic enhances its beauty now and into the future.

Ceramic tiles have at least one feature that makes them unique — ceramic refuses to harbor germs, making it an ideal and popular surface for kitchens and bathrooms. The smooth surface is also easy to keep clean. Just make sure that the ceramic tiles you purchase all come from the same lot, which will ensure that they are uniform.

Additionally, make sure to choose the correct hardness for the job at hand. Ceramic tiles range in hardness from zero to five. If you want to tile a wall, then the best choices are tiles rated zero through two. For in-home floor use, go with a three-rated tile, and if you want tiles for a commercial application, a ranking of four or five would be suitable. Backsplashes, walls, floors and countertops all benefit from ceramic, as it is easy to maintain, very versatile, highly durable and reasonably priced.

Porcelain is considered a subtype of ceramic, and its clean look makes it a good alternative. Porcelain is the tile of choice for truly high-traffic areas, especially in industrial and commercial settings. The tiling you find in airports is almost always porcelain. Your personal tastes will determine whether you like that look for your home, but its extreme durability may not even be the driving factor in your choice. Usually, homeowners choose ceramic tiles due to their unlimited versatility.

Another alternative may be natural stone tiling, which is often considered to be an agglomerate/aggregate tile: it is a mixture of marble and other rocks held together by epoxy. Stone tiling comes in a variety of engaging colors and designs. If you choose to install it yourself, be sure to measure twice and cut once. Since stone tiling is man-made, measuring and cutting work needs to be very precise.

Resin flooring is a good choice for those who want a durable, yet good looking floor upgrade.

Resin flooring is not made of that sticky stuff which comes out of trees. Resin flooring is a relatively new player in the home flooring upgrade arena, and perfect for someone who wants a different look in their office. It has the quiet ability to add a little something special to any room it is installed in. It’s an interesting alternative to the usual upgrade choices of marble, tiling, ceramic tile, carpet and various wood flooring options.

New does not always mean better, or even that people will agree it is a choice worth considering. However, with resin flooring, it is slowly coming into its own and making a name for itself. One thing is for sure, it is not boring flooring. It is robust, durable, interesting and does the job in any location in which it is placed. While those characteristics may sound bland, they are anything but. Resin can be functional in even the most elegant of locations and settings; that is part of its enormous consumer appeal.

What are its benefits, besides beauty? Did you know resin floors are stronger than concrete? Concrete, especially in locations where there is high, heavy traffic, crumbles and breaks. Not so with resin. It holds up to anything put on it, whether it is a heavy stainless steel fridge, or a tractor, or a classical sculpture of a bronze mountain lion, or a washing machine. “Versatility” is the keyword when it comes to resin flooring.

Contrary to popular opinion, this type of flooring is not dull. It has a nice shine that catches the eye and stays appealing over the years. Yes, you do pay more for this kind of flooring. However, since it is a one-time upgrade, because it will almost outlast your house, it is worth the investment, plus it may well increase the sale price of your home. Another bonus!

If you’re thinking resin is dark and dreary, not so. You can get any color you like, including yellow, blue and red. If you have a retro or pop culture-like kitchen, you’ll love resin flooring. This kind of flooring is not ranked well for a D-I-Y project; you’ll want to call a professional flooring contractor on this one. After all, you want it to look good. Don’t take the chance on tackling a project like this on your own.

Love that cool look of tile in your home? Try Crema Marfil for something different.

When you want to upgrade your living space, your first consideration is to keep an eye on what adds value for a potential sale. Choosing the perfect floor and wall tile can really make a huge difference in the marketability of your home. Hands down, tile is the best choice for interior upgrades in the bathroom(s) and kitchen, but you want it to be just perfect.

If you have not tried Crema Marfil marble, this may be something you should check out. Crema Marfil is well-worth having in your home and a good option for those who love the sense of beauty it brings to every room. It is elegant, soothing, and adds a touch of class to any location.

This particular tile is noted for its range of attractive patterns, color tones and interesting and arresting presence once installed. It is versatile and may be laid for flooring or used on walls. Put it into any room, and the whole atmosphere changes to an appealingly charismatic place to hang out.

Most homeowners find this marble choice appealing thanks to the wide variation of tiles sizes, making it a natural choice for those handy do-it-yourselfers, who pride themselves on a difficult job well done. The interesting trick with Crema Marfil is that depending on what size tiles you choose the look of a room or hallway changes dramatically. For instance, bigger tiles create the appearance of greater length and width. If using a combo of short and long tiles, the resulting mosaic effect is dynamic and stunning.

Another hugely popular bonus with this marble is its elegant finish. It is perfectly serene, clean, easy to maintain and soothing to look at. It’s not often you get a tile that is this versatile and universally admired by many. And, if you are a stickler for durable flooring, but don’t think this would do the trick, think again. It is durable, beautiful, fashionable and highly useful. What more could you ask for in terms of superior flooring?

There are hundreds of options that may appeal to you and even offer you colors you never though you would see put to use for wall or flooring jobs. The preservation of dwindling world resources, especially trees, is a major concern for homeowners today. Thinking “green” can help save the environment.

While it may be time to do something to upgrade the older, and perhaps unattractive, flooring in your home, today’s homeowners are far more environmentally conscious than ever before. It is imperative for an eco-focused consumer to choose flooring products which are sustainable.

Thankfully, designers, architects, interior decorators and home builders have been working on practical ways to work with sustainable materials, things that are environmentally friendly, both now and in the future. What does “sustainable” mean and why should you care?

Sustainable materials are those which carefully and consciously maintain balance in all of our natural resources, whether it is water or wood. If we do not have balance or maintain a necessary balance, it has an enormous affect on our lives. We must be willing to work with products that can replace themselves. This is vitally important with virtually everything we use today.

What are the choices in terms of flooring for those who want to go green and are serious about it? You can upgrade your flooring with sustainable options, materials that are easy-to-find and a snap to install. For instance, bamboo flooring is a good sustainable choice. Bamboo is water-resistant, hard as nails and has an innate anti-bacterial agent. If you want to install it like hardwood flooring, you can, or you can cut it into smaller planks during installation.

This next sustainable recommendation may raise some eyebrows: recycled leather. Where does recycled leather come from? The leather used to make car seats. The seats are ground up, and the resulting mixture is glued, using natural glue and fillers. The end result is tiles that you can install in any room. They look natural and are richly textured.

If your goal is to have aesthetically-pleasing and environmentally-sustainable flooring, think outside of the box and find out what other interesting options you could apply to your floors to make them look unique, yet classic.

Barre, Vermont was recently affected by tropical storm Irene and had to deal with contaminated floodwater.

It has been a weird season for weather; hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes and violent wind storms have rocked the country. There never seemed to be an end in sight to the dismal, and often deadly, forecasts. All of these events thrown at us by Mother Nature caused more than just power disruptions, collapsed homes, and uprooted trees. They typically caused flooding and frequently contaminated the water supplies in the area where storms hit.

In Barre’s case, there were thousands of homeowners served by private wells who feared their water was contaminated by Irene’s floodwaters. The city handed out more than 2,800 water testing kits for those worried about polluted water to test their supply. If any of these homeowners had water distillers, this would not have been an issue for them, as water distillers offer clean, fresh and safe water on demand with no worries about pollution.

The city’s health department felt it was crucial for the residents to test their wells, as many were completely covered with floodwaters, which can raise the possibility of fecal contamination. An advisory was issued, suggesting that people not drink their water until it was confirmed that it was safe to do so. This meant those on wells were boiling their water or buying bottled water. Bottled water is often minimally treated tap water, so , this is not the safest option either.

The safest water these people could possibly ask for is created by water distillers. Either a portable model that sits on the counter or a water distillation system can provide fresh and safe water. This is a far better alternative than drinking contaminated water that has the potential to gravely sicken or kill people.

The unfortunate thing about trying to decontaminate any compromised wells is that homeowners will be advised to use chlorine bleach. This is also a contaminant, and is usually used in quantities of one gallon of scent free bleach for every 525 gallons of well water, with further instructions to let it percolate for at least 12 hours to kill fecal matter. It is then up to residents to run their water until they cannot smell bleach anymore. Using a contaminant to decontaminate another is hardly a safe way to deal with contaminated water. The most effective, safe and contaminant-free way to get fresh, safe water is to use water distillers.

We already know that there are at least 2,100 contaminants in our drinking water. This is what we drink out of the tap in our kitchens and bathrooms, and sometimes outside from the hose in the yard. The horrid list of contaminants would knock your socks off it you took the time to track down all the crud that is in our supposedly safe drinking water. What adds even further insult is that we pay to drink this water, even as it puts our health in jeopardy.

If you know about the dangers of contaminated water, you are one step ahead of the crowd. However, there is some bad news. Most people do know that artificial sweeteners are highly dangerous to their health. This is no secret, and information about sucralose and other artificial sweeteners can be found all over the Internet. What is not common knowledge is that a recent study has scientifically proven that Splenda is a virulent contaminant in waste water, ground water and surface water in the USA. Where is a water distiller when you need one?

You should be worried because that sucralose/Splenda (and other similar products) was found in finished (treated) water, which means it survives the treatment process using chlorine or chloramines, and remains intact. Remember that sucralose has never been found to be safe for people, so when people drink or ingest it, it passes out of their body without changing its molecular structure and eventually winds up back in your kitchen tap. This means people continually ingest a dangerous chemical without knowing it.

The study took a close look at 19 drinking water treatment plants used to treat water for more than 28 million Americans. It was checked for the presence of sucralose, and found in 15 out of the 19 plants tested, and in the finished water of 13 of 17 plants and eight of 12 distribution systems. It bears repeating that synthetic compounds are not being broken down by the water treatment process.

That’s not all the bad news when it comes to sucralose in your drinking water. A study in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health revealed, among other things, that sucralose affects P-glycoprotein. It acted to reject crucial drugs used to treat heart conditions, AIDS patients and those undergoing chemotherapy by directing the medication back into the patient’s intestines, meaning it was not being absorbed. That means the medications were useless.

As for the other testing supposedly carried out by the FDA, it might be best if you just did the research on sucralose testing to find out the real story, not the one the makers of the product want you to hear so you buy their product. If you want to do your own research, you might like this site: www.truthaboutsplenda.com

For the record, sucralose/Splenda is not sugar; it only starts its life as a sugar molecule, which then has three chlorine molecules added to it. The end result is a chemical that closely resembles the dangerous and toxic chemicals DDT and Agent Orange. Do you want to be drinking water with sucralose in it? Probably not! What can you do about it then? Invest in water distillation systems, because in regards to sucralose, water distillers remove it more effectively than any other method of water purification.

Water comes in many forms, but if it tastes odd and is gritty, there is something seriously wrong. Do not drink it.

The next time you go to the tap for a drink of water, take a minute and think about what you are about to put into your body. Do you really know what is in the water you drink? Do you know there are more than 2,100 pollutants in today’s water, most of which cannot be filtered out at aging water filtration plants? This is a scary thought isn’t it?

Running for the bottled water will not make any difference either, as many companies are just using tap water. Sure, some places test their water on a regular basis, but they are not testing for the 2,100-plus toxins that are in our water today. Many tests are for bacteria and chlorine, but no one is looking for the street drugs, pesticides, hormones, contaminated wastewater and other gunk that finds its way into our water sources. Basically, the Environmental Protection Agency sets limits on whether water is a health hazard or not.

However, they do not include the full list of 2,100 contaminants either, which means while our water is considered to be safe for some contaminants, who knows how safe it is with the other stuff in it. This is one of the leading reasons why Americans would do well to have water distillers in their homes. At least they would have safe, fresh and contaminant free water on hand and on demand.

Could you test your water at home? Yes, you could, but again, it will reveal only a limited number of contaminants, not the complete spectrum of what you really should be worried about. It all boils down to taking care of yourself because no one else will. Authorities can insist the water is fine but is it? If you have doubts, have a family to protect and are worried about your health and what you drink from the tap, then invest in water distillers or water distillation systems for the home.

You might not see blue-green algae in your water from the tap, but you can smell it. You definitely do not want to drink it as many forms of blue-green algae are toxic. This can kill humans and animals. So if a town’s water source is contaminated with toxic blue green algae, who in their right mind would be drinking it? The answer to that would be likely no one. Who could even get past the smell? In situations like that, the best alternative to have on hand for fresh water on demand is water distillers or water distillation systems installed in the home and office areas.

Lowell, Oregon has been told for the fourth year running that their water is polluted with blue-green algae, and after four years, they are now going to test it to see if it is really toxic or not. There are apparently different varieties of algae, some not as potent as the blue-green strain. That however begs the question of why it took city administrators four years to get their act together and start doing some tests. Additionally, whose definition of acceptable algae contamination do people want to accept? Why risk any amount of algae in the water?

The city has about 1,000 residents that are on pins and needles waiting to find out what the latest results are in testing their water. In the meantime, they have been told not to drink or touch the water. While city officials indicate that some of the algae may be filtered out by water purification plants, this varied from place to place. This is hardly reassuring coming from the people who are supposed to protect the water supply. This is all the more reason to consider investing in water distillers, as there is no question whether or not the water is safe when using them.

Oddly, the city also pointed out that they do not believe the algae is in the treated water because of their treatment process and where the water intake for the city is in an area where algae growth does not normally happen. What are the odds that this statement would not be true? Who would want to chance it either? Additionally, testing done over the last three years has indicated the algae’s presence in the reservoir and not the city’s drinking water. But who guarantees that?

The most astonishing thing that was said by city officials is that for residents to be safe, they might want to start drinking bottled water. This is definitely not good advice given the fact that a large proportion of bottled water is just tap water with a fancy name and a couple of passes through an ultra-violet light. This process achieves nothing to combat the 2,100-plus contaminants in today’s water. Stick to water distillers as they are safe.

Groundwater is the source of supposedly fresh drinking water for millions of families across America. Families count on rain, sleet, hail and snow to replenish the groundwater and rejoice in knowing that there is a natural source of drinking water. Yet many do not realize that it is contaminated with radioactive waste and human waste that is dumped into the environment. When wastewater evaporates, it comes back as contaminated rain.

Depending on the extent of the contamination, the pollution can go underground and deeper wells may be more protected. The key is the amount and source of surface water that flows into the area. The worse it is, the more contaminated the water supply will be. To deal with a situation like this, a smart home or business owner could have water distillers on hand or install water distillation systems in both home and office locations. If you want clean, fresh, and safe water at any time of the day water distillers are for you.

Just looking at a body of water, people do not connect the dots that this water eventually makes it to the kitchen sink. While the water sits on the earth’s surface, and as it soaks into the ground, it picks up hitchhikers – things like magnesium, calcium, chlorides, boron, selenium, radon and even arsenic. Yes, these are naturally occurring elements, and in small amounts are not considered to be detrimental. However, if the amounts are high and consistently so, that’s a bigger concern. This is why having water distillers on hand eliminates any worry a person might have about the quality of the water they are drinking.

Natural elements are one thing, but pollutants such as fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are another. Throw various drugs and hormones into the mix and you have a highly toxic brew in your tap. Do you really want to be drinking that water? What would you think if you knew your neighbor’s septic tank was leaking into the ground water close to you? Or if the chemical plant up the road had a major chemical spill that soaked into the ground, right by the main source of your water? It cannot be emphasized enough – safe and clean water is at a premium these days and if you want access to water that you know you can drink, use water distillers.

Understandably, there is concern about polluted rainwater ruining our groundwater, but in reality the problem is a whole lot bigger than that. One wonders if people truly understood the consequences of their habits on our water supply whether or not they would stop. Unfortunately, when money is at stake, the end seems to justify the means.

With things like large agricultural operations, fracking, radiation from nuclear accidents, chemical and drug dumping, what has not been polluted is more of the question. When it comes to what you can do to protect the water for your family, it is recommended to use water distillers for the safest, freshest water supply. This is water you can trust and made as you need it.

At one time we could actually drink out of streams, swim in lakes, and enjoy the ocean. We could even drink water straight from the tap without any reason to be concerned. That certainly is not the case now. Yes, the water on tap might look ok, smell ok and not taste too bad, but do you really know what is in it? That is the scary part, and even more disturbing if you have children. The fact is that the present generation is polluting the water for the next generation, and they will pay a heavy price for that. Ever wonder why more kids have immune system problems these days? With more than 2100 pollutants swimming about in your water, it’s enough to make you think twice about drinking a glass of tap water.

Do you have a charcoal filter? It is not effective against the many unseen things you do not want to be drinking and may grow pollutants of its own if you do not change it frequently. The most effective and safe way to get fresh water is to use water distillers or have a water distillation system in your home. Not too many people realize the huge number of pollutants that are now a part of the water we take in daily. Water can be filled with organic pollutants such as detergents, food processing waste, cosmetics and personal hygiene products, and tree and other plant matter.

Inorganic water pollution is usually the result of contamination from heavy metals, fertilizers and chemical waste. As you can see, there are a number of ways to pollute our water, and it seems mankind has managed to even add a few more. It is odd that the top executive at a petroleum refinery does not seem to make the connection between his refinery’s waste leaching into the groundwater and polluted tap water. On the other hand, perhaps he is aware, since he may well have bottled water on hand in the office. He would be best served by having water distillers on hand, but even more importantly, if his refinery stopped polluting, safe drinking water could start to return one reformed polluter at a time.

Not being able to even boil the water to make it safe does not happen often, but when it does, there is a lesson about having access to clean water.

Water contamination is, unfortunately, far too common these days, but this accident bordered on the bizarre. A cleaning contractor mistakenly flushed underground tanks at a hangar at the local airport. That meant that about 200,000 gallons of jet fuel contaminated water was possibly mixed into the city’s water lines, preventing over 18,000 residents from using the water. If they wanted water, they had to visit one of three distribution centers set up in response to this crisis. If people had water distillers in their home or a water distillation system, there would have been no concerns about the water.

Rather than take any chances, the city issued an immediate warning to residents to not drink or use the water for anything, and that included brushing teeth or even doing dishes. In the meantime, officials were trying to work out how the accident happened. There was speculation the accident happened due to either a design flaw with the system that handles the fuel or a plumbing problem.

The unusual thing about this story is that people were told not to boil their water, but instead, to not use it at all for anything. Apparently, not even boiling that water would have made it drinkable, because some of the bacteria in it were resistant to boiling; all the more reason to get smart and buy water distillers or have a water distillation system installed in your home or business, or both.

Having water distillers on hand would have given city residents control of their drinking water and not have forced them to go to a distribution system for rationed water handed out after a 45-minute wait in line.

Every time you have a drink of water from your tap, you figure it’s safe. Who is protecting your water?

It’s a classic misstatement these days when you read articles about a process called “fracking” that extracts oil from and natural gas from rock formation. Fracking is also referred to as hydraulic fracturing or hydrofracking and, contrary to media reports that the process uses a “brine” for the process, the fluid used is a compound of over 500 nasty chemicals. Those chemicals, for the most part, are also considered to be carcinogenic. And get this. After the process, the water used in fracking is radioactive.

If you have a fracking project anywhere in the vicinity of where you live, you will want to ask some really pointed questions about the safety of your groundwater, which ultimately winds up in your taps. Do you really want to be drinking weird sounding chemicals floating in your radioactive water? Chances are the answer to that question is “no.” To avoid the hassle and concerns, look into water distillers to provide you with safe, fresh and clean water on demand.

The icky concoction used for fracking is getting into groundwater wherever oil and natural gas recovery projects exist. How does that work? What happened to protecting the environment and consumers? What happened is that the frackers have been exempted from the Safe Water Drinking Water Act, the applicable provisions of the Clean Water, Clean Air Act, the Superfund Act, the Hazardous Waste Act and the Environmental Policy Act. You might want to read that again: the industry has been exempted from the acts that should regulate your drinking water and keep it safe. If this doesn’t raise a serious red flag, nothing will.

Do you know what is really in your water? If you have a fracking project nearby, you need to go online and find out for yourself what that means for your water. Just because your water may still taste, look and smell OK, doesn’t mean it is. How can drinking that toxic brew be safe? How can you provide safe drinking water for your family? You can’t, unless you have water distillers in the home, or a water distillation system.

If you don’t think it makes any difference and agree that fracking is necessary, and that they really don’t pollute your groundwater with unimaginable gunk, check out the story about New York and what it is doing to protect their water supply. Did you know they slapped a moratorium on gas drilling because they saw evidence of water contamination? They took steps to safeguard their water and their citizens. Who is making sure “your” water is safe?

If you are not making sure you have safe water, you get what you get out of your tap. It’s not hard to have clean and safe water anytime you want it. All you need to do is use water distillers. It’s just that easy and simple.

Arsenic is a natural element found in the earth, in varying concentrations. No matter what the level, it poses a threat to your health.

It has long been known that arsenic in drinking water is not good for you. It has only been recently that a new study has brought forth new evidence of the links between arsenic in your drinking water and heart disease. If you smoke and also drink arsenic laced water, your risks are even higher.

The first link made between heart disease and arsenic laced drinking water was discovered in 1980 in a small town in Chile. They had a dismal record of 17 deaths due to heart attacks in people younger than 40 years old. Over the years since that revelation, the connection between the water and heart attacks has grown stronger. In order to protect yourself and the health of your family, you might want to consider investing in water distillers. They can and will protect you by offering clean, fresh and safe water, the way Mother Nature intended it to be, on demand.

The recent study that clearly shows a link between heart disease, smoking and drinking water with arsenic in it, was conducted in a location in Bangladesh, where the groundwater is polluted with arsenic. The exposures ranged from low to moderate levels of arsenic, and the measurements were taken from local wells. There were 2,000 people involved in the study, tested every two years for about six and a half years. The results were sobering to say the least.

Researchers found that there was a dose related response between being exposed to arsenic in water and deaths from heart disease. The really bad news is that even lower levels of arsenic were needed to cause heart disease; lower than had previously been reported. Overall, just about 30 percent of the deaths caused by heart attacks were attributed, in part, to the levels of arsenic in the well water the participants were drinking. Unfortunately, none of the participants had access to water distillers to act as a control group, not exposed to contaminated water.

Although the risk associated with drinking arsenic contaminated water was high, when linked with those that smoked, or had smoked in the past, the detrimental effects on the heart were evidently intensified. The study also suggested that arsenic laced water led to hardening of the arteries.

It is tough to tell if the water you are drinking does have arsenic in it, unless you take it to be tested. The water looks fine, smells fine and has no taste and unfortunately, even if you think it is contaminated and boil it, boiling only concentrates arsenic. When in doubt about your water supply, opt to have water distillers on hand.

This has been a weird year weather-wise, and flooding seems to be the rule, rather than the exception. Flooding raises concerns about contaminated water.

Pictures of sandbagging efforts have become common in the papers and on other media outlets. The rivers, creeks and other bodies of water, just do not want to stay within their boundaries. If floodwaters breach a local water filtration plant, there is a high level of risk for contamination of the drinking water.

Many affected towns, cities and other areas across America have had to resort to alternative water supplies to handle their daily living chores. Unfortunately, some of the water is from taps in another location, which really does not mean it is clean. It is just not contaminated with the gunk in the flood waters – yet. Those who have water distillers are ahead of the stress of situations like this, as they can get clean, fresh and safe water on demand, not having to worry about flooding or their local water supplies.

Every day, there are pictures showing huge areas completely flooded out, businesses, homes, trailer parks, municipal buildings and schools submerged in dirty river water while the melt continues to dissipate. It will eventually recede, but the damage left behind will be considerable. Pumping and sandbags will help to a certain extent, but in many situations, pumped water just has no place else to go but back into the flood waters threatening various locales.

Flood water is not just dangerous because it floods homes, municipal filtration plants and wells, etc; it is dangerous because it often contains invisible organisms, viruses, fecal matter and other disgusting things you do not want to come into contact with in any way. The fact is that there are over 2,100 hitchhikers in your regular water that you should not be drinking, never mind the addition of floodwater and its baggage.

Local officials in hundreds of locations are issuing warnings to people to wear protective clothing and try not to get any of the floodwater on themselves. Do not let children play in the water, and keep the water and your hands away from your nose, eyes and mouth.

Be very aware of the risk of getting tetanus. Wash hands frequently and if you do not recall when you last got a tetanus shot, get a booster to protect yourself. As for drinking water, cooking water and water for brushing your teeth, the safest, cleanest water you could consume during flooding conditions is that made by water distillers.

Using a plastic bottle to clean water is an interesting idea. The better idea, if possible, is using water distillers.

This new and innovative way to clean water for those living in desperate conditions around the globe is to let the sun’s UV rays purify the water. Sounds simple, right? It is simple; deceptively so, and may work well in third world countries or in disaster scenarios. Right now just about 3.4 million people die annually from water borne diseases and contaminated water kills roughly 4,000 kids every day. If they had access to water distillers, their problem would be handled, however, they may not, and reality is, without clean water, people will die.

The Water School is making sure their simple, yet effective idea, gets out to everyone who needs it. While there were other methods being used, the creators of the School wanted something that anyone could do, no matter where they lived in the world or whether they had a job. In other words, the solution to providing clean water in disaster torn areas and other locations needed to be sustainable by the people themselves.

Their solution? Ten million plastic bottles are made in the world, just about daily. They dot the landscape in every country and are considered to be a major nuisance. How many people knew that if you put water in them and let them sit in the sun for six hours, that the UV rays from the sun destroys bacteria?

Of course, there is another question here, and that deals with whether or not bisphenol-A (BPA) leeches from the plastic into the water. Current research on this issue shows concerns about freezing a plastic bottle and then having it heat up, but there is nothing that addresses leaving bottles out in the direct sunlight. However, if you have just been through something like Japan or Haiti, you would likely not be too worried about it.

While this method is not exactly new, as the World Health Organization has used it to treat water, it was just never taken out into the field and applied in a real life situation. The School founders took their idea to Africa and it worked like a charm. The School has since gone into Uganda and Kenya with their mission and has had great success.

Imagine the applications for this process if you were stuck in a town without useable water and no water distillers around as a backup? Granted, the best location to be doing this kind of thing is within 35 degrees of the equator, due to the higher levels of UV rays and sun penetration. However, this does not rule out it being used in a pinch in other locations with perhaps an adjustment in the amount of time the bottles are left out.

The bottom line is, if you want to have clean, fresh and safe water, year around, and not have to depend on the water filtration plant during a flood, have a water distiller on hand. You’ll be glad you got one.

Rising floodwaters in many locations across the nation have prompted real fears about the water breaching local community water filtration plants. The fear is quite palpable in many areas. It is a well-known fact that if flooding takes out the water filtration plant, the water is not safe to drink. Actually, it may not be safe to drink in the first place, but flooding makes it even more of a serious issue, and thus many towns have issued boil water advisories. If the communities only knew what water distillers could do for them, they may not be in such a panic.

Contaminated water lurks in just about every tap in America today. It is just the way it is. There are over 2,100 contaminants in today’s water and many of them breeze right on by the water filtration plant’s attempts at cleaning and filtering the water. Why? They get through the usual cleaning process because they are too small to be filtered out. Additionally, many of the filtration plants are horribly aged and not up to the task of doing a credible job of cleaning and filtering the water, hence we get some really strange guck in our tap water. If we used water distillers, this would not be an issue, as they provide fresh and safe water on demand. You can even use it to brush your teeth and cook with if you want.

In situations where floodwater getting into a treated water reservoir, there is a high chance that the untreated groundwater can spill into the town reservoir. When in doubt, do not drink it. If the town does not know for sure if this happened, the only commonsensical move is to issue a boil water advisory, as most of the people in a community will be using their tap water straight for just about everything. If they had water distillers on hand or even as a complete system for the house and/or business, boiling water would not be an issue.

The bottom line is if you want clean, safe and fresh water at anytime, day or night, a water distiller is the only real answer. It can sit on your counter or you may install a water distillation system for the house. Either way, water distillation systems provide truly pure distilled water and mean you don’t have to rely on questionable tap water.

Volcanoes and major fires tend to disperse ash into the air. Ash contaminates nearby water sources.

When the community of Grand Prairie woke up one morning, their landscape was decorated with a dark ash coating, as the result of a major fire in the area that destroyed a 400,000 sq. ft. warehouse. It was one of those fires that no one hopes to fight again, involving 66 firefighters, 12 fire rigs and engines from multiple surrounding fire departments. It was one of the worst conflagrations people had seen in years.

The fire took many hours to finally snuff out and with it being extinguished, came blowing ash and large plumes of grey and black smoke. The air and water in the area would take a beating. In fact, the water quality would be affected several miles away from the fire. Luckily, the warehouse that went up in flames did not have toxic chemicals stored inside that may have compromised the local aquifers.

Nonetheless, the ash settling in various streams, lakes, rivers and wells would add extra concerns about the quality of the drinking water. A dilemma that would best be resolved by using water distillers. Or, if any of the local residents had water distillation systems installed in their homes, the ash in the water (and any other contaminants) would be taken out, ensuring fresh and safe water to drink.

Investigators on site and over the course of dealing with the fire and its fallout have as yet to be able to determine the exact cause of the fire, but are thankful that the warehouse only stored aluminum cans, paper and a few machines. Nonetheless, the local cleanup crews and the state environment and water quality division are monitoring the water to ensure there were no chemicals dumped while fighting the fire.

While this situation is of concern to many of the area’s residents, if they used water distillers or in the alternative, had water distillation systems in their homes, they would not need to worry about the quality of their drinking water. Water distillers produce the safest, cleanest and freshest water, on demand, whenever you want it. There are no concerns about various chemical or other pollutants bypassing water distillation systems

If you have ever been faced with a torrential downpour and flooding later, your community may have trucked in water in water tankers. There is a good chance it was contaminated.

While no one likes to be the bearer of bad news, there is a good chance that any water tankers bringing water into a flooded region where the water treatment plant has been compromised is hauling contaminated water. This may have gone on for months, until the local situation was under control. In the meantime, what about the water you were drinking? Where did it come from?

The answer to that question may disturb you, as often, when water is needed and there is no readily available source to access, truck operators may resort to getting water wherever they can. That “wherever they can” may include dirty streams, wells with questionable aquifer clarity, wastewater from various facilities or other locations where the water was not even initially treated. This really is not too much of a surprise, as even much of the bottled water being sold in America is from the tap and treated with a variety of different methods to supposedly purify it.

Most bottled water is not pure, as the processes used to clean it up fall far short of the kind of clean, fresh water you will get by using water distillers. What is even more disturbing is that there are well over 2,100 contaminants in the drinking water today, and every time you turn on your tap to take a drink, you are swallowing a good number of them. This situation can be dealt with quite easily by investing in water distillers or by installing water distillation systems in your home and office.

If you have concerns about any water you get from a tanker during an emergency situation, if you have a water distiller on hand, you can use it and ensure the water you are drinking and serving your family is also fresh and safe. The world is a different place than it used to be years ago and many of our water sources are filled with undesirable “no seeums” swimming in it that may cause us harm and/or make us very ill.

Considering that we are paying to have our water treated, water quality should be a concern for everyone. It is a life giving, life-sustaining fluid and if it is contaminated, we are paying for water that might ultimately cause us to be seriously ill or kill us; a bizarre situation to say the least. You have a way to control the safety and freshness of the water that you are drinking by investing in water distillers.

No one ever gets used to having to boil water before drinking it. Boil water advisories happen far too often in a supposedly civilized country.

Those who have lived through a boil water advisory never look at their water source again with anything other than pure suspicion. If something bad happened to their drinking water once, chances are it could happen again. We tend to trust that our water is safe, clean, good to drink and without harm. When that trust is broken, there is a solution to having fresh, safe and clean water on hand when you want it by using water distillers.

Sadly, those are not assumptions you should make without fully checking out what is actually in your water. You may be dumbfounded to discover that there are over 2,100 toxic substances hitching a ride in those water molecules. Do you really want to drink a glass of water whose main claim to fame is that is has at least 2,100 contaminants in it that will then be in your body when you swallow it? No? Most people would say the very same thing, and for good reason. Most people would prefer knowing their water is safe to drink 24/7/365 and would gladly invest in water distiller systems to get that assurance.

Macy, Nebraska is the latest location to get hit with a water advisory, and the EPA is warning people that get their water from the Omaha Tribe’s Macy water system to not drink it unless they boil it. It seems the system had sustained a number of line breaks recently; a situation that caused loss of pressure in the lines. When this happens, the water in the system has the potential to become contaminated – even more than it already is.

This was not the only reason the boil water advisory was issued. It seems the Tribe did not bother to test its water for the presence of contamination last December, as is required by law. Thanks to this oversight and the broken lines, residents in the area are now facing boiling their water from one to three minutes, to make sure any bacteria onboard is killed. To avoid the hassle, they could be assured of quality water by using water distillers, as water distillers provide, on demand, safe, clean and clear, fresh water, without any contaminants in it.

It had to happen. Once thought to be the bee’s knees for healthy teeth, Americans are now getting too much fluoride.

No one is quite sure why people would think that if a small amount is good, that a bigger amount is better. Take the case of fluoride in America’s water supplies. Having fluoride in the water was once touted as the be all to end all to help keep people’s teeth healthier. Now, there is too much, thanks to mouthwashes and rinses with fluoride and toothpaste and other products made with fluoride.

You would think that it might a good thing to have lots of fluoride to protect teeth. The problem is that too much fluoride is not protecting teeth. In fact, kids are developing ugly splotches on their pearly whites and developing other, more serious problems. The problem is so serious that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is going to be announcing that they will lower the recommended level of fluoride in drinking water – for the first time in over 50 years. You cannot fight scientifically backed studies.

If you do not want any fluoride in your drinking water, you can actually gain control over that by using distilled water systems. No other water filter system is more effective at removing fluoride than water distillation systems. With the wide range of fluoride-based products on the market, oversaturating your body with additional fluoride just does not make sense. Once thought a healthy thing to do, it has become overkill.

Lowering the amount of fluoride in our water will more than likely kick start yet another battle over fluoridation, despite mounting evidence that too much of a good thing is not a good thing when it comes to flouride. Yes, it is true that tooth decay had plummeted from 90 percent to 60 percent over the years since fluoride in the water became the thing to do. However, dropping the levels will not affect those numbers given the number of other products on the market for oral care that have fluoride in them.

The good news is that you do not have to drink those products either. Drinking fluoride over a long-term basis is not good for anyone’s health, but oddly, no one seems to give that much thought. While you may have healthy teeth, the rest of your body will not take too kindly to fluoride every day, as it has a cumulative effect over the years. The only way to make sure you have fresh, clean and safe water on hand is to use water distillers in your home, or go one step further and install water distillation systems at home and work.

The news each day carries pictures of those dead from cholera. If clean water was on hand, this would not be happening in the 21st century.

Many Americans with relatives in Haiti are receiving the devastating news that their loved ones have died; died of cholera, a death caused by unclean water. It is a widespread and rampant problem in Haiti, as a result of the serious earthquake that hit the region on Jan. 12, 2010. That quake was a 7.0 trembler that was followed by close to 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or higher on the Richter scale.

The great quake left at least 100,000 people homeless, devastated cities, towns and villages, killed approximately 230,000 and made a mockery of what water supplies they had on the island. In the crush of humanity trying to survive from hand-to-mouth and from day-to-day, little was done to educate those who survived that they needed to be careful about the water. They did not know it could kill them, and because of that, many of the quake survivors drank bad water and died. They are still dying for the same reason.

Cholera is a deadly intestinal infection borne across the Haitian landscape by water contaminated with feces. Getting the word out to those who need to be protected has not been easy, as there are no phones, radio reception is poor in many locations and there are no TVs. That means thousands of people don’t know they should not drink the water. Although cholera is relatively easy to treat, Haiti faces many other challenges, such as delivery of aid and obtaining enough medical assistance.

While it is shocking to realize that people actually can and do die from drinking contaminated water, this is not just something that can happen in someone else’s backyard. It could just as easily happen at home in the U.S. We all need to be aware of the issue of how contaminated water affects us and take no chances we could fall ill due to tainted water. The best solution is to use water distillers at home or have water distillation systems installed. It is one way to ensure safe water is on hand, on demand.

We need to be aware that water is literally our life blood and without clean water, we stand the chance of dying. If we cannot rely on the water we have on tap, what are the alternatives? The safest and most economical alternative is using water distillers. To even think that someone could die because they did not have clean water is an absolute travesty in the 21st century.

It is not too much of a stretch of the imagination to think about contaminated water in the USA. It is all around us.

This case is ongoing and is highly disturbing, as well. The people living in the smallish town of Colstrip, Montana cannot drink the water in their wells because it is highly contaminated with coal ash byproducts. There are four large power plants closeby that are forever running afoul of regulations laid out by the state’s environmental authority. That is largely due to the fact that the agency does not do much in the way of overseeing the plants or regulating the situation.

The town has been trying for quite some time now to get something done about their water and the source of the pollution, but no one seems to be listening. The company that controls the power plants has already settled one lawsuit, paying out $25 million to plaintiffs.

You would think that would spur them on to clean up their act. Not so. The plants carry on, blithely ignoring cleanup regulations and not bothering to do anything to upgrade the seals on their coal ash ponds. Unfortunately, no one has mentioned that one way to ensure the residents of the town have access to fresh water is that they could invest in water distillers, or in the alternative, install water distillation systems in their homes and businesses.

It seems these particular ponds have had problems right from the get go; from the day the lining was installed. The company doing the work flat out refused to guarantee its product, because it would not be effective given the site’s needs. The power company forged on anyway, despite warnings.

Today, those who sued the company and won are not allowed to speak about the issue and not allowed to sue the company again. Unfortunately, there is another batch of local people who want to take action against the power plant and they are getting doors slammed in their faces.

The latest batch of rumors centers on the power plant dumping waste directly into the Yellowstone River, contaminating the water with mercury and arsenic. Many town residents and those on outlying ranches would be interested to know they could cope with this problem with water distillers to get clean, fresh water on demand.

Don’t look now, but America’s drinking water has volatile organic compounds in it. VOCs typically have chronic effects.

Just when we thought our drinking water might be A-OK to swallow, along comes the information that what’s on tap may also contain volatile organic compounds. These no-seeums can cause headaches, throat irritation, liver and kidney damage, central nervous system damage, nausea, coordination problems and eye and nose irritation. None of this would make anyone really want to rush home and have a glass of water straight out of the tap, unless they ran that water through a water distiller.

Surely, you think, our water purification plants handle this kind of contamination and the water can’t be that bad. Well, the first point to consider is that most municipal water treatment plants are so old and out of date they can barely keep up with the usual contaminants, never mind the newer ones that have come on the scene over the years.

The second point to ponder is that even though the water may look and smell OK, that doesn’t mean it is OK. Typically, contaminated water has no smell or taste and that’s what makes it potentially deadly in the short and long-term. One way to avoid drinking tap water is to have water distillers in the home to make sure you have access to fresh and clean water daily.

Yes, EPA guidelines state that water has to be purified, but, not 100 percent. Why is that? Purifying it 100 percent would cost way too much money. It certainly would cost a bundle, because there are more than 2,100 known contaminants in the water we drink daily and one of those is VOCs.

Right now, most water treatment plants use the cheapest method they can to do a partial job of cleaning the water. This means the end user, which is you, is drinking contaminated water that may be contributing to intestinal grief and other things, such as high blood pressure.

While you may very well have treated tap water at home, this isn’t to say that it is safe for you to drink on a regular basis. If you want to ensure your family has safe water on demand, then invest in water distillers. That way, you can be guaranteed of having safe and fresh water at home.

Only three percent of the world’s water is accessible. The rest of it we can’t drink.

You may be well aware of the fact that the planet has several saltwater oceans that make up about 97 percent of the water on Earth. But we can’t drink saltwater. This is likely where the expression “water, water, everywhere, but not a drop to drink” came from. So what? We can’t drink salt water, but there is lots more water around.

Realistically, the 97 percent of the water we all know about, see on TV and maybe swim in, we can’t drink. Period. That leaves a mere 3 percent left for human consumption and that also means there are a lot of people starting to check into the benefits of using water distillers for safe drinking water.

The 3 percent of the water we can consume comes from rivers, lakes, ponds, underground aquifers, ice and glaciers – at least what’s left of the glaciers, as they are rapidly melting. Sadly, even those sources are already polluted. How well does that bode for future generations? It doesn’t.

Did you know that roughly 20 percent of the tainted water in the world is the end result of water-based pollution? That means the kind of contamination cause when waste is dumped directly into the water. This is also referred to as point source pollution. Think the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

If 20 percent of the world’s accessible water supply is polluted by point source waste dumps, how is the other 80 percent polluted? It is a good question and the answer is that land-based pollutants contaminated that percentage. Think human sewage, fertilizers, chemicals and other substances we’d rather not know about.

Most of this detritus, unless it happens to be treated, will land at the bottom of our rivers, lakes and ponds – the very sources we use to pump our tap water from. Feel like having that glass of water now? Chances are you don’t and rightly so, as polluted water is a major hazard to your health. However, if you have water distillers in your home, you have the best solution to having fresh and clean water on hand and on demand. Perhaps you might also want to have water distillation systems installed in your home and office.

There are a great many people who don’t care that much about the environment, and this is rather odd, since it’s what’s in the environment – put there by humans – that causes water borne sickness. Humans are directly responsible for pollutants in the environment that cause uncontrollable diarrhea that kills at least 1.5 million every year. The other shocking figure is that 13.5 million die every year of different polluted water diseases. And don’t look now, but this isn’t just a problem in developing countries. We have similar problems right here in the U.S.

Our rapidly dwindling water resources are not just a problem for the fish and other animals that live in the murky depths of what we’re trying to clean up to drink. Contaminated water is a human problem that desperately needs to be dealt with before we have none left.

Have you checked out what you’re drinking these days in terms of water? It might be best if you did.

If you’re drinking tap water, you might want to rethink things. Why? Well, unfortunately, the vast majority of tap water in the U.S. today is contaminated. Yes, the water you pour into a glass, cook with, make Kool-Aid with or bathe in is contaminated. Sadly, once-pure water supplies are now also contaminated.

Since water has a major impact on our body functions, eliminating contaminated drinking water would only improve our health – which is a good thing. This could easily be done by using water distillers or installing water distillation systems in the home. It isn’t that expensive and the peace of mind of knowing you have clean and fresh water, as Mother Nature intended it, when you use water distillers, is well worth the investment. Besides, it’s your health that’s at stake and that is priceless.

While you may not realize this, contamination, even in small amounts, may cause cumulative chronic health problems. Did you realize that drinking bad water may cause liver and kidney damage, neurological problems, immune system breakdown, birth defects and cancer? Astonishingly, a good portion of Americans today don’t realize the ramifications of drinking what’s on tap at their house. In fact, what’s on tap may include more than 2,100 toxic chemicals; toxins that no municipal water treatment plant can remove.

The pollution of the water you drink comes from a wide variety of sources, from chlorine to herbicides, from street and prescription drugs to pesticides and who knows what else along the way. The fact is that there are over 80,000 synthetic drugs on the marketplace, all designed to make our lives easier. While they may do that, they pollute the water when they are flushed down the toilet or washed down the sink. All of these additives in our water make for a dangerous drink.

Think it is just adults that may suffer the side effects of bad water? Think again, as children are extremely sensitive to toxic chemicals and most of them drink a fair amount of water. Because their immune systems are still developing, they could be impacted to a much greater extent than an adult. The bottom line is that children are not little adults and because they are less developed, they can’t detoxify harmful compounds.

Some people think the answer is to drink bottled water. This may not be a good idea for the major reason that a great deal of the bottled water is tap water purified to a certain extent. The fact is, the bottled water doesn’t get out all of the contaminants present in today’s water. If you want more information on that, just do a search for the Natural Resources Defense Council four-year study that showed bottled drinking water isn’t always purer, cleaner or safer than tap water.

If you want safe water, water you can count on to be fresh and good to drink, then rely only on water distillers. If you think one step ahead, also see about installing water distillation systems in your home and office. Without a doubt, you will then have water you don’t have to worry about.

Do you really know what you’re drinking? Thousands of people in the U.S. don’t know about the 2,100 toxic chemicals and 80,000 synthetic chemicals in their tap water.

Did you know there is chlorine in your water? If you’re wondering how it got there, look no further than your local water treatment plant. They use this chemical to kill parasites and viruses. In small doses, it can be a good thing and kills dangerous contaminants. Long-term exposure to chlorine is another thing entirely. It can lead to birth defects and even miscarriages. Don’t panic. Here is a tip you can use until you get a water distiller: Let the glass of water sit on the counter for about five minutes before you gulp it down. Chlorine by-products evaporate naturally.

Another not so great thing lurking in your tap water is lead. While most water treatment plants have the ability to wipe out this heavy metal, if you happen to live in a house that was built in 1975, there’s a good chance your water pipes contain lead. Lead from the pipes can leach into your water.

Even trace amounts of lead are bad news, leading to nerve damage, anemia and even irritability. So, how do you get the lead out? There are a couple of ways to do this. The first – which you can do until you get your water distiller in place or have installed a water distillation system for the home – is to run your tap water for two minutes to flush leached lead down the drain. Re-use this waste water on your plants.

There are several other things in the water you really ought to know about; hormones and drug by-products. How did those get into the water? Everything you take by mouth will eventually come out one way or another. Whether it’s Warfarin or Pariet or Tylenol or Valium, it usually ends up in your urine. Unfortunately, scientists have not yet figured out how to remove drug by-products from the water. That’s the bad news. The good news however, is that you can get around drinking water with unwanted junk in it by using a water distiller.

Traveling to other countries usually means not drinking the water. However, you should also watch what you drink in the U.S.

The minute you turn on the tap in your home to get a drink, you get a glassful of water and thousands of other little things that are not visible to the naked eye that can’t be smelled or tasted. Though the government doesn’t consider most of them a problem, they’re still pretty scary when you find out what you’re about to swallow, which is why you seriously want to consider having water distillers on hand to get fresh water when you want it.

Did you know that a lot of water is contaminated by protozoan infections such as cryptosporidium? That’s a fancy name for a nasty little critter than can give you flu-like symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, bloating and diarrhea. You might also find Giardia in the water; another nasty hitchhiker known to cause bodily havoc when contracted, with symptoms similar to cryptosporidium.

Salmonella and E. coli are close bacterial cousins of the two mentioned above. You may be familiar with both if you read the papers and take note of recent product recalls. The same bacteria in the food recalled that can cause salmonella contamination or a bout with E. coli is in your water. This is a major reason to think about installing a water distillation system in your home.

Salmonella causes fever, horrendous stomach cramping, vomiting and bloody stools. E. coli may cause serious dehydration in youngsters and seniors due to watery bowel movements. There are several other tenacious bacteria that may cause chills, fever, pains, aches, severe fatigue, respiratory difficulty and pneumonia. It’s enough to make you want to rethink drinking that glass of water on the counter.

There is also the possibility of parasites lurking in your water, and this isn’t just in developing countries. If there has been a severe storm in your area and your local wastewater retention plant or sewage treatment facility has been breached, you can bet you’ll find lots of stuff in the water you don’t even want to think about, never mind drink. Be aware that parasites have a habit of migrating to certain spots in your body and making themselves at home. There are nine kinds of parasites you could pick up from bad water.

Contaminated water doesn’t just have protozoan creatures waiting to pounce on you or just parasites; it also has numerous viruses that may cause headaches, depression, jaundice, coughs, colds, flu, sore throats and pneumonia. If any of these abhorrent anomalies in your water gets out of control in your body and isn’t treated promptly, they may also cause death.

What do you do about contaminated water? Use distillers or install water distillation systems in your home. That is the only way to know you have safe, fresh and clean water on demand – water that has nothing in it other than what it is supposed to have in it.

Fracking – a controversial method of creating fractures in rocks around oil and natural gas wells to increase output – is still occurring, and no matter what the gas companies say, not many people want it to continue.

Well over 1,000 people gave a piece of their mind at a recent meeting discussing fracking’s impact on the environment and groundwater in the areas being fracked. It wasn’t what you would call a quiet and orderly meeting, nor did it really stay on point.

The point was to ask for input from the public to design a study about how hydraulic fracturing affected groundwater. Many of the people at the meeting wondered why anyone would waste the time on such a study when it was more than clear, based on evidence, that fracking did affect local groundwater.

Many of the speakers in the room had personal anecdotal evidence of drinking the end results of fracking from their taps at home. Why spend time and money on a study when the effects were clear to those at the meeting? Some of the people in the room had direct experience with using water distillers to avoid the contaminated water in their homes and businesses. They knew they had fresh, safe and clean water on hand, on demand. Some had even installed water distillation systems in their homes.

The people who set up the meeting tried to retain control by asking the crowd not to debate the merits of fracking. That didn’t work. despite the scientists at the podium who mentioned that there was no conclusive evidence that fracking did contaminate groundwater. The residents, who had glasses of water that were “off,” piped up that when an unknown mixture of water, sand and unspecified toxic chemicals are injected using high pressure to crack rock to release natural gas, there are bound to be problems with the local groundwater.

The mess has to migrate somewhere. Many feel it landed in their taps, and those that did not know about water distillers or water distillation systems were at a distinct disadvantage when it came to having safe water in their home. Those with water distillers were able to share that news with others, and hopefully the information will prompt people to do research into why water distillers are the only option that offers people safe water.

Despite the pleas for sane discussion and a request for level-headed suggestions, more of the speakers at the meeting let loose with their experiences with fracking. One individual thought that doing a study on this practice was like doing a study on Rome while it was actively burning. The feedback continued most of the evening and left those who attended frustrated at why companies would even think a study would make any difference in the long run. Most felt the big gas companies would skew the results in their favor.

Nonetheless, the Environmental Protection Agency is planning to do the fracking study, to be completed by 2012, go see if there is a link between the chemicals used during the process and the problems subsequently noticed with local drinking water.

Bad water in any language is something everyone needs to know about. One town in California is now issuing water advisories in Spanish.

The residents of Thermal, Cali. have been having some major problems with their water systems, which are contaminated with arsenic. The town is trying to involve local residents in the cleanup process to figure out the best way to improve the water system. It is vital to modern life to have clean, fresh and safe water. Water with arsenic won’t cut it. One readily available solution for many of the residents in this locale is to use water distillers or, alternatively, consider water distillation systems for their homes and businesses.

Community members know that they need to take swift action in the face of reports that thousands live in areas potentially contaminated by naturally occurring arsenic in the groundwater. An interesting question here would be why the town chose to build in those areas in the first place. If the residents and community fathers were aware of the value of water distillers, it could go a long way in solving their immediate problem while they work towards other long-term solutions.

Right now, the state is making provisions to pass several bills that would help people living in the area by requiring that mobile home park owners must install point-of-use arsenic filters. They are also planning to have water advisories prepared in Spanish so local residents understand the problem.

If residents are working towards a common goal of having safe water and an integrated water system for everyone, they might want to make water distiller information available to area residents in English and Spanish. Since safe water is the main problem, they might want to know that water distillers and home water distillation systems provide the cleanest, freshest and safest water possible, on demand. There is no need to rely on tap water. In fact, with the water contaminated with arsenic, the idea of using tap water for anything would be highly repugnant, not to mention dangerous.

Every day there are stories in the media about contaminated water. We’re our worst enemies for keeping water clean, proof positive that we need water distillers.

This story hit the media when it was discovered that a local gas station in North Coventry, Penn. had a leaking diesel tank that was trickling diesel into a shared well. When the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) got into the act, the gas station was ordered to shut down until further notice and completely empty their three tanks.

It seems that the diesel had made its way into a stormwater basin before anyone really knew what was occuring. The DEP spokesperson said they were working with the station to trace the source of the leak, but that the station owner for some reason had sent in an incomplete report the month prior. Naturally, that made things even harder to track, because the details of their fuel sales versus fuel left on hand were not accurate.

The contaminated water was actually reported by a business across the road from the station. The store’s owner called the DEP to let them know they could smell diesel when they turned on their water, and that an employee had tried to take a drink of water and it burned her mouth.

At this point, one of the questions that could have been asked was whether or not the homes and businesses in the area were aware that water distillers would have provided them with a safe source of clean, fresh water? Furthermore, were they aware that they could also protect their homes and businesses from contaminated water by having water distillation systems installed?

This incident only became a story because someone could actually smell and taste the diesel. Who would have known about this if it had been something else in the water that had no smell or taste – like a large number of toxic materials? The frightening answer is that people would have been aware of it until they got sick, and even then, would they have associated their illness with the water?

This makes it even more vital for people to do research into water distillers and find out for themselves how safe and effective they are in the home, how they provide fresh, clean and safe water on demand – water you can trust and not wonder about. If you want complete security when it comes to your water, install water distillation systems in your home and office space.

If it isn’t one thing, it’s another. All across America, tap water is being contaminated.

It’s honestly not safe to turn on your tap these days and take a drink right out of the faucet. At least, it’s not safe if you want to be sure you are drinking fresh and clean, uncontaminated water. Most of the water on tap in our homes today is not what it looks like. It may look OK, even smell OK, but chances are it is not OK. Many of the organisms hitching a ride in the water can’t be seen or smelled, but they can give you health problems if you drink them.

Take the case of Clinton, N.J. and their local water department, who just recently said it was OK for the town to start drinking their tap water without boiling it. It would have been safer and much healthier if the town residents had just invested in water distillers or water distillation systems for their homes. It would have saved the guesswork over whether the water was OK to drink or not. If you assume it’s not safe to drink, you’ll come out ahead by using water distillers.

Even though the residents were hit with a “boil water advisory” that lasted for about a week, they still can’t be sure what the cause of their contamination problem really was, since the town is having trouble tracking it down. Apparently, one of their wells produced an untreated water sample that tested positive for E. coli. The town took further samples, and when they also came back positive for the same bacteria, they took that well out of service.

Town officials said that the water samples were “untreated” water and that the E. coli was “not in the treated water supply.” That may be the case, but when you’re relying on someone else to treat your water before you drink it and it was “untreated and contaminated” before it was treated, you’ve got to wonder whether their assessment of what is safe and what isn’t is accurate. Who really wants to take the chance that they are drinking water laced with E. coli? This is one major reason to use water distillers or, alternatively, install water distillation systems in your home. It guarantees water as safe and fresh as Mother Nature intended it to be.

Fortunately, in this particular case, the residents of the town were notified promptly that there was a problem and they did a good job of getting the word out. The town said residents should boil all tap water for one minute, which would “kill the E. coli and other organisms in the water.”

That phrase bears investigation – kill other organisms in the water. The town is fully aware that the tap water does have other organisms in it. This isn’t something that many people would be very happy with if they understood what the other organisms might be. This gives all the more reason to use water distillers. If it’s safety you want when it comes to drinking water, water distillation systems are the answer. There’s no second guessing if the water on tap is safe or not.

Untreated water from public wells that 105 million Americans use is contaminated. That is not good news.

Just when you think it’s safe (dare you hope?) to drink the water out of the tap, you read something in the local newspaper that makes you wish you had water distillers at home, or had installed a water distillation system. Did you know that high nitrate levels in our drinking water are a threat to our health?

This is a good and bad news scenario. On one hand the water is the pits and we need to be worried about what we are drinking and how it affects us, but on the other hand, a company called Nitron Ltd., say they have a new water technology that will reduce nitrate contamination. Chances are that while it may be a valid idea and technology, it may not hold a candle to one of the easiest and safest systems going – water distillers.

With just about 52% of the community water wells in the US and close to 57% of domestic water wells being contaminated by nitrates, we have a serious problem with ground water quality. Nitron, based in Israel, has a new technology designed to whisk away nitrates and turn the treated water into safe water. Using a process they call selective electro dialysis (SED), which uses an electrical process to separate nitrates from the water and concentrate it in separate cells, this company hopes to take the drinking water market by storm.

This particular technology has been used in many Israeli towns and cities; municipalities that boast of saving 50% of their previous water costs. Will this technology catch on in the US? Hard to say, but it seems unnecessary to consider a somewhat complex system of purifying water when water distillers (which are really easy to use) can give you what you want in a short period of time.

Water distillers don’t use any types of chemicals. They are right there when you need them. They are easy to use and give you fresh and safe water on demand. It’s a no hassle way to get the freshest water you want. On the other hand, this new SED technology does use chemicals to prevent precipitation into the concentrate stream. They say it’s safe; only time will verify that. You may access the system remotely – which would only work if you have power. They say it is cost effective and energy efficient. Check out water distillers if you want cost effective efficiency. You’ll be pleasantly surprised, not to mention have fresh drinking water that tastes great.

Seriously, if people honestly knew what was in their water, they’d have water distillers in their homes immediately.

Sure the town or city where you live will tell you the water you are drinking is safe within certain parameters. Sure it’s safe to drink over a long period of time and sure it’s treated at the local filtration plant so it must be ok. Sounds safe, but is it? Generally speaking, the answer is no, it’s not all that safe to drink over a long period of time. As toxins accumulate in your body, your body reacts by getting sick. If you really want to drink water in complete confidence, then use water distillers or install a water distillation system.

Even if you think your water is ok to drink, you might want to take the time to have it checked for contaminants. If it comes back ok, then you’re good to go – for now. This isn’t to say that over time the quality of your water won’t change. The fact is that municipal water filtration plants just can’t do a completely adequate job of filtering out the bad stuff before it gets to your tap. This is just one of the many reasons why using water distillers or having a water distillation system would mean guaranteed fresh and safe water.

If you have been swamped this year because you’ve had heavy rains in your area, join the large crowd of Americans who are battling to clean up their basements, salvage their homes and find clean and safe drinking water. During the violent storms we have witnessed lately, sewage systems have a tendency to overflow.

If your house does not have a water distillation system or you don’t use a water distiller, the water left behind after a storm may be contaminated with human and animal waste. This isn’t something you want to be drinking, not when it may contain E coli and other very dangerous bacteria.

Why does the sewer infrastructure of where you live break down like that? That’s an easy question to answer. Look to the budget. Over time many cities have just not taken the time to update their aging infrastructure. The net result? Outdated water and sewer systems that can’t keep up with the demands being place on them. That means if sewage leaks out it leaches into the groundwater supply. You get the picture.

If you want to be safe and secure in the knowledge that what you are drinking is fresh and safe, then invest in water distillers or have a water distillation system installed in your home. Peace of mind is well worth the price to take care of your water.

Gas drilling has many states contemplating their water rules. The environmental consequences may be disastrous without changes.

Pick up a newspaper these days and you’ll notice that there are more and more stories that deal with polluted or contaminated water not to mention the kind of water that you can set afire with a match. The world is becoming a very scary place when it comes to being able to count on having safe water.

Have you ever taken a good look at what is in the water that comes out of the taps in your house? Try it sometime and you may never drink it again. In fact, your best bet would be to check into water distillers to keep your family’s drinking water safe.

To list the things that are in the water today would take a whole article and then some, so suffice it to say that if you take the time to do some online research, you will find out much more than you ever wanted to know about how safe your water isn’t.

The tip of the iceberg is that your water may contain drugs, pesticides, herbicides, mercury, chlorine, E. coli, salmonella and various hormones. When you get your research done, you’ll be totally amazed at what passes for safe drinking water these days. If you want a safe alternative, then consider using water distillers.

Just a quick look at gas drilling, also referred to as fracking, because the process involves some toxic chemicals that ultimately tend to wind up in the local aquifers. This isn’t good for anyone, but unfortunately, there are a number of states that are so far behind updating their environmental laws, the gas drilling continues largely unimpeded. What that does to the water tables is another story and one that hundreds, if not thousands, of people angrily dispute when they see the change in water color, smell and taste.

Basically what’s going on right now across the nation is many states are trying to play catch up to the gas drilling industry and rein them in. Much of the water they high pressure pump underground to make the gas rise to the surface winds up staying underground, contaminated with who knows what (the industry won’t reveal it’s fracking formula) and the rest of it comes to the surface.

While some states may have the surface water covered, in that the company “must” treat it to drinking water standards, there is still a long way to go before people will be happy drinking water that had toxic chemicals in it. It just sticks in the back of people’s minds that “something” was in the water and that unseen something may harm them. Those who do have concerns like this might want to invest in water distillers and take a load off their minds. It’s the safest, freshest alternative to turning on the tap and wondering what you will get out of it this month.

Recently, swimming in Biscayne Bay was not a great idea. The bay has been deluged with 20 million gallons of sewage.

It appears the local water authority and health department attempted to warn those who were on the beach and swimming to not go in the water. They said they posted signs, spoke to lifeguards and gave a heads up to local park officials. The people who got sick after swimming in the water aren’t impressed and say the warnings were not enough.

One person, who took ill after being in the water and inadvertently swallowing it, was extremely ill for at least three days. His business partner stated to local media that if people “had” known about the sewage spill, there would have been no one out in the water. Despite what the residents of the area said, the officials insisted they’d issued an advisory to not swim or do any other recreational activities in the bay from Oleta River State Park to Bal Harbor and Haulover Park. For whatever reasons, the word did not get to where it needed to be.

Amidst all the quarreling over who did and didn’t do what, the underlying issue here is contaminated water, and the fact that even in America the inconceivable may happen when we least expect it. While this incident involved water people swam in, you can bet that part of that water system was diverted for use as drinking water. The thought of that would not start off anyone’s day with a bang. It makes you want to find out more about a safer alternative to tap water – water distillation systems and water distillers.

It seems that a 72-inch line ruptured and spewed sewage for over 12 hours before the city got it under control by shutting off the valve and rerouting the flow. You’d think with over 20 million gallons of sewage in the water, the parks would post a red flag to warn off swimmers. It appears they posted a medium hazard flag instead because the health department didn’t indicate the water was unsafe to enter. One may wonder what happened to common sense in this instance.

The bottom line here is a very real concern about the sewage being mixed with water used for drinking. Whether it was mixed with ocean water or not and diluted, the fact is that 20 million gallons of sewage was let loose on unsuspecting people. Does anyone know for sure where that water will wind up? Does anyone know for sure what will come out of a tap sometime later?

The answer to both those questions would be “No,” no one does know for sure where the contaminated water will eventually wind up. For those who are worried about what is in their tap water, and rightfully so, they might want to do research on the safest alternative – water distillation systems and water distillers.

Incidents like this simply serve to point out that we never really know for sure what comes out of our taps. Given that uncertainty, it only makes sense to invest in water distillation systems and use water distillers because it’s the safest and freshest alternative to questionable tap water. Distilled water provides Mother Nature fresh water that is safe for your family.

More companies are looking to purchase VOC-scouring technologies to cash in on the carbon credit market.

What a difference an administration makes. With the Obama team in place, discussions of climate change and the role of greenhouse gases are being taken a lot more seriously. While the discussions are often emotionally charged and filled with rhetoric, a number of facts have become just that, facts, leaving the theoretical in the dust that was the Bush-Cheney agenda. Fact: Human activities, including combustion of fossil fuels, do lead to the production, or emission, of excess carbon dioxide. A second fact could lead to some economic gymnastics destined to change our world for the better: Natural processes, notably photosynthesis amid plant growth and decay, when occurring on managed agricultural lands can sequester carbon. Perhaps most significant from an economic vantage – a voluntary private sector market has developed which facilitates the purchase and sale of “carbon credits.” The concept is simple, if elegant. Carbon dioxide emitters, less kindly called polluters, may choose to compensate for their contributions of carbon (or other greenhouse gases) by purchasing “offsets” which provide a monetary incentive to either decrease emissions or reduce atmospheric concentrations. Offset goals are being increasingly facilitated by various types of thermal oxidizers and regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTOs) which can be highly effective and energy efficient systems for minimizing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other pollutants emitted by industrial plants. These incinerators are able to thermally or catalytically convert pollution-laden emissions into a less contaminated form of CO2 and water vapor. Efficiency rates for the oxidation process are typically better than 99% destruction/removal efficiency (also called DRE) levels for VOCs, hazardous air pollutants, and odors.

Applications for such technologies used for maximizing carbon credit potential seem to be popping up everywhere. For instance, RTOs are being used to destroy low concentrations of methane at high air flow rates. Power generation is becoming commercially feasible as a by-product of such processes. Since coal mines are not likely to be capped under future climate regulations, they should become eligible to generate carbon offset credits in a federally-congenial “pre-compliance” culture. The only real “cap” on the creative use of Thermal Oxidizers and RTOs in the new Obama-energized milieu will be the imaginations of CEOs and enterprising entrepreneurs. As far as Global Warming is concerned, the sky is no limit when sequestering carbon is the goal.

It’s a sad fact, but the major source of water pollution today is human beings. We just cannot seem to understand that dumping things into water supplies contaminates them beyond redemption, in some instances.

Since water is so critical to our very existence, one would think that people would understand that throwing things into the water only makes it contaminated. Sources that were once sustainable become unfit for human consumption. One wonders what people are thinking when they abuse the very thing that helps sustain life on the planet.

There are usually four culprits that contribute to the ruination of water sources in our country: municipalities, industrial pollutants, agricultural pollution, and natural pollution – meaning a natural event like a landslide that contaminates a water source. Actually, there is one other major pollution source that many people are familiar with; however, most people do not connect it with water contamination – global warming run off. Witness the melting of glaciers that have been solid for thousands of years, until recently.

Agricultural operations put a big load of pollution into the environment due to animal waste and chemical pollutants, with the by-products of chemical and waste run off ending up in the water tables and finding their way to streams and rivers. Stopping this type of pollution usually requires a great deal of education, but more importantly the provision of alternatives to dumping chemicals into streams, etc.

It is not too much of a stretch of the imagination to guess how municipalities pollute their waterways. In some areas, it is common to find a smaller municipality dumping their waste products into nearby rivers and even the ocean. If that same municipality also has a large manufacturing plant close by, it is a good bet that pollution from it will wind up in the water as well.

The bottom line in this massive, overwhelming problem is the only thing an individual is able to do is be pollution conscious for their own corner of the world. In particular, make safe drinking water a priority for the family.

Doing this involves the use of a distillation system that makes water as pure as it can be. No other purification method is as effective, so this would assure a safe drinking supply in your own home year round. Fighting water pollution would be an overall agenda to follow for the greater good of the world, but being safe at home is the first priority.

For years there has been a great debate over which kind of water is the best, filtered or distilled. It usually boils down to personal choice, but the fact remains that for the purest water available, distillation is the best method of obtaining safe drinking water.

Many people who are “water aware” spend a lot of time and energy searching the Internet for what they feel is the perfect filtration system for their home. They have the knowledge to understand that drinking straight tap water isn’t always the smartest or safest thing to do. This, of course, is a major issue in the 21st century – the safety of our drinking water here at home, and abroad.

There have been enough reports in the media to cause most Americans to have a certain level of awareness that the water they drink could be better, and is a precious resource. While drinking water in most communities is definitely regulated, this does not mean people do not want to do more to make their water cleaner, fresher and purer.

A lot of people will opt for a faucet water filter without really understanding that the filter itself may wind up being a source of contamination over time. However, even though they may not know this, many people insist that this will solve their drinking water problems. To this end, if the ultimate decision is to use a filter system at the faucet, make certain there is a specific list of precisely what contaminants are removed. This is because not all water filters are created equal.

The next thing to take into consideration is how effective the filter is in removing things in the water that no one wants to drink. Read the fine print on the boxes carefully because there will be a wide percentage range of effective filtering from one system to another. Since faucet filter systems are not exactly cheap, calculate the cost of operating one in your home.

To calculate what the faucet is supposed to cost per gallon, again, read the fine print on the package. There is an amazing range of diversity here as well and the price per gallon may range from as little as 10 cents a gallon to slightly over 25 cents a gallon or a bit higher. Be aware that what this means is there are filters that cost up to three times more to operate, but they may not be providing cleaner, fresher, purer water.

When all is said and done about water faucet filter systems, the next step is to investigate the real and effective alternative to these questionable systems – a water distillation system. H2oLabs know all about fresh, clean and safe drinking water, as their water purification method (by distillation) is the most effective method around to ensure safe drinking water.

It’s a fact that tap water has numerous things in it that no one wants in their system on a daily basis, things ranging from chemicals to toxins. Only the distillation method used by H20Labs produces the purest drinking water possible. All tap water contaminants are distilled out for you to pour down the drain. Without a doubt, the safest method to get the purest water possible is to use H20Lab’s water distillation system.

Although drinking bottled water might sound like a safe alternative to tap water. However, don’t be fooled by misleading advertising.

Manufacturers selling bottled water are going to make their product sound like the “be all, end all answer to drinking tap water.” The odd thing is that tap water is usually better for people (so long as it is distilled.) The bottom line here is that municipal water is subject to more and better regulations than bottled water. Scary thought!

Sure the ads are colorful and make one think about a cool, refreshing mountain stream brimming with purity and an outdoorsy visceral appeal. That water isn’t regulated. Tap water on the other hand is watched over by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state and local government watch dogs.

On the other side of the fence there is bottled water that is only checked by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The fact of the matter here is that the FDA rarely gets to most of the food plants it is responsible for every year. Industry rumors have them inspecting, in some cases, once every five years or longer.

The FDA is supposed to test bottled water to the exact same standards as the EPA. That does not seem to be happening. For instance, municipal water is not allowed to have E.coli or fecal coliform bacteria. The FDA rules for bottled water do not have those restrictions.

There is a requirement that water brought in from surface sources has to be filtered and disinfected or be subject to stringent pollution controls. At the federal level there are no filtration or disinfection requirements for bottled water. In most cases these rules are supposed to be put in place by the states; however, most states do not have strict regulations.

The drinking water provided to consumers by cities, etc. is tested regularly by government-certified labs. There isn’t anything written that says bottled water manufacturers have to do this. Bottled water plants only have to test once a week for coliform bacteria as compared to tap water being tested at least 100 times a month.

Know your water and distill it at home. The best bet for “straight from the horse’s mouth information” is to consult with H20labs.

There is a way to keep your drinking water fresh and pure. Keep it in stainless steel containers.

Not too many people realize that the plastic bottles they drink out of and carry around with them (leave in hot cars and out at room temperature) quietly leach byproducts into the water. There are at least two byproducts of concern – BPA and phthalate, as both of these affect taste and water purity.

BPA is the shortened form of Bisphenol A and is classified as an organic compound. Bisphenol A has been thought to be hazardous since the early 30’s but recently made headlines when a US government report, once again, questioned how safe it was for human consumption. H20 Labs understands this problem and had begun marketing stainless steel water bottles.

Science says that low doses of bisphenol A can mimic the body’s hormones. Over the long-term it is possible it may cause chronic toxicity in humans. This report and its implications caused a stampede of retailers to pull items made with BPA off their shelves.

Phthalates are actually esters of phthalic acid which are most commonly added to plastics to make them more flexible. However, when this chemical is heated – for instance in a hot car – the chemical leachs into the water. This chemical has a long history of causing liver problems, endocrine problems, and reproductive problems; it is noted to be associated with an increased risk of cancer.

The phthalates are regulated in amount in tap water; however, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has an exemption for bottled water. That is downright scary. There are two chemicals in plastic bottles that have the potential to cause damage due to prolonged exposure. With the number of people who carry their plastic water bottles around with them daily, this is of real concern. This is precisely why H2O Labs started marketing stainless steel water bottles.

It makes sense health wise and environmentally to switch over to using stainless steel bottles to carry daily drinking water. The flavor is much better, as there is nothing like pure, fresh water with a pleasant taste for a healthy body. Just ask H2O Labs to explain what the stainless steel water bottle will do to improve the water we carry with us everyday.

The right to water is something that most people don’t really think about. This isn’t the case in other parts of the world.

One thing that we abuse on a daily basis is water use. It’s there and we don’t think twice about where it came from, how it is treated, whether or not we will have any tomorrow, and if we should ration it. Rationing and the possibility of no water are real in many parts of the world.

This precise conundrum was the reason for many places banding together and enshrining the right to water in legislation. For instance, in 1994 in Panama, there was a constitutional amendment that recognized the State’s responsibility to guarantee water for adequate development. H2O Labs has a passionate interest in people’s right to clean water.

In 1995, Ethiopia came on board and stated that their water policies shall aim to provide all Ethiopians access to clean water. Uganda also waded into the fray and passed legislation that said the State “is obliged to fulfill fundamental rights to social justice and economic development including clean and safe water.”

This was just the tip of the iceberg and other countries began to follow suit. Gambia, in 1996, said the State would endeavor to facilitate equal access to clean and safe water; South Africa rolled the right to have access to sufficient food and water into their legislation; and in 2004, Uruguay rubber stamped a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to water.

Although there is legislation that says people have the right to water, it’s not always being actively followed. In other words, it’s being honored more in the breach. Witness public water utilities installing pre-paid water meter access in poor areas, where people desperately need water, and shutting them off when the bills get behind. This is why H2O Labs is a major proponent for home distillation systems.

There are an estimate 1.7 billion people in the world that still have no access to clean water and over 2.3 billion sick with diseases from water-borne diseases. It isn’t hard to figure out why the health care systems in those countries can’t keep up with the sickness.

Privatizing water supplies isn’t the answer either as this usually leads to monopolies, higher rates and at times, questionable water quality and service. What better reason could their be than to try a distillation system that offers fresh, quality water on demand, with an H2O Labs personal home distillation system?

Water is critical to our very survival. We owe it to others and to ourselves to have the responsibility of caring for and maintaining fresh water supplies with decent access.

Fluoride levels in water have been a controversial topic since heaven knows when. The debate still rages on even today.

The first thing that should be noted about fluoride toxicity is that science says not all levels of fluoride are actually harmful. This is contrary to conventional wisdom, but the conventional wisdom isn’t always accurate either. While fluoride has its place in the greater scheme of things, it isn’t toxic in reasonable levels; but if overdone, that’s another story.

Most people want safe drinking water, pure, fresh and great tasting without the worry of having “things” in it they don’t want or understand. People want a Home Water System where they may make their water “fresh” every day. They want a system that takes out all the bad stuff and leaves fresh and pure water with unbelievable flavor.

Any level of any contaminant in water is not acceptable. Speaking of acceptable, one wonders what is a supposedly acceptable level of fluoride? Safe levels are deemed to be concentrations lower than 0.7 to 1.2 parts per million. This is the level found in public drinking water supplies. It’s pretty hard to overdose on that, even over the long-term.

There’s a great debate about long-term consumption of fluoride and whether or not it has the capacity to show up later as skeletal fluorosis. Rather than debate the finer points of fluoride toxicity, many people simply opt to purchase a Home Water System that will guarantee purity without contaminants every day.

Fresh drinking water in the home is as much about good health as it is about the best method for ensuring fresh, safe, and good tasting drinking water. Distillation is the best process to get the freshest and purest water, like Mother Nature intended it to be. Distillation is the only method that produces the PUREST drinking water possible. No other water purification method is as effective.

In this day and age when just about anything relating to water is highly regulated, it may come as a shock that private wells are not. Just a few years ago people weren’t all that concerned about water quality or water purification in general.

Unregulated private wells are something that bears closer scrutiny given how crucial water is in our daily lives, and not just “any” water, but good, fresh, clean, and safe water. This is where distilled water comes into the picture; it is the purest water anywhere.

It’s funny how history has a way of holding our feet to the fire to do something about such glaring oversights. For instance, in 1974 Congress was playing around with the Safe Water Drinking Act. No one paid much attention to the fact that it was designed to regulate America’s public water supplies. No one thought much about it, as water on tap was taken for granted. So, Congress mostly focused on the protection of various drinking water supplies like springs, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and ground water wells.

It turns out there is a large hole in the regulations that a truck could be driven through because the Act does not regulate private wells providing water to fewer than 25 people. If that isn’t bad enough, it also does not regulate/oversee even larger private water systems.

H2oLabs has the perfect solution for private well water systems – distilling the water, as it is dispensed in the house. It’s the only purification method that literally makes water brand new once again. Even though the Safe Drinking Water Act does regulate contaminants in drinking water, it doesn’t apply to private water systems. That means a chance of organic chemical contamination or worse. While it might be filtered, filtration is no guarantee the water will be safe.

No one likes to think they are drinking re-cycled, used water that has perhaps passed through a carbon filter or two and has come out the other side looking and smelling OK, but who knows what’s really in it. With an H2oLabs Home Water System the idea is to make water every day, meaning it’s fresh and has no contaminants in it. Fresh water with a great taste is the best way to start the day.

Epcon’s regenerative thermal oxidizers are the antithesis to VOC proliferation, with efficiency rates comparable to any available anywhere.

They’re good. Epcon’s Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers, called RTOs in the industry, are designed to be energy efficient to the extreme. They do it primarily due to their ability to achieve high levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Chemical) destruction – keeping processes well below required DRE emission levels. This is thermal oxidation taken to an ideal plateau of excellence, a process of regeneration assisting internal heat recovery so that effectiveness is epitomized.

Multiple energy recovery chambers are used by the RTO in such a way that the integral housings for the ceramic heat recovery media acts as a heat exchanger for the entire system. This type of set-up practically “breeds” an effective efficiency virtually unheard of in our competitor’s RTOs.

The multiple chambers are part of a regeneration principle. They operate under a “swing bed” absorption method, in essence the principle of transfer through multiple beds via the use of flow reversal. Combine this principle with ceramic stoneware, and you get a superb quality of regeneration.

It all begins with the dirty exhaust stream. It travels through the first bed of ceramic media, and the exhaust stream is absorbed within the heat energy stored in the ceramic media mass, in effect, the exhaust stream’s pre-heater. But then a kind of technological “magic” occurs. Once the exhaust stream enters the burner reactor chamber, heat energy is added from the burner to reach the system operating temperature. With the temperature properly elevated, the clean exhaust stream passes unhindered through the second energy recovery chamber. The exhaust stream keeps going. Passing through the chamber, the cold ceramic media mass absorbs the heat energy of the entire exhaust stream, and stores the heat energy for the system’s reverse flow. Depleted, the heat energy of the first chamber begins a classic rotation, directing the incoming dirty air stream through the previous absorption chamber. Result: Clean waste gas spewing nicely through the previously purged chamber.

By the use of an exhaust flow reversal through the ceramic beds, a minimal amount of heat energy is necessary to add in order to maintain the system’s minimum operating temperature. Heat recovery rates of 95% to 97% are suddenly possible. An Epcon-designed RTO is an extraordinarily effective method of ridding VOC contaminants from even the most stubborn flows.

Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs) can regenerate the heat of a large thermal mass and are an effective and fuel efficient option.

Thermal oxidizers destroy toxic particulates in the air and volatile organic compounds often emitted in industrial process exhausts. They typically do this by capturing heat from an outgoing air stream to preheat incoming air. This often has the effect of reducing operating costs.

The two most typical methods of reclaiming heat are regeneration and recuperation. When the heat contained within a large thermal mass is regenerated, a thermal oxidizer employing this method is called a regenerative thermal oxidizer. Recuperation implies more of a direct heat transfer from the outgoing to the incoming air stream. When this method is used, the system is called a recuperative thermal oxidizer.

What happens with a regenerative thermal oxidizer is intriguing. Gas laden with volatile organic contaminants enters a Twin Bed RTO via an inlet manifold. The gas is directed by a flow control valve as it spews into an energy recovery chamber; work that takes place within this chamber is primarily preheating. Heating of the process gas and contaminants continues in a place called the stoneware bed as the gas stream moves toward a combustion chamber. It’s in the combustion chamber where the most exciting part of the entire process occurs: The volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are oxidized. This oxidation releases a surprising amount of energy into a second stoneware bed. This stoneware bed is in turn heated while the gas, a bit less volatile, is cooled until the outlet gas temperature is only slightly higher than the inlet temperature. The flow control valve switches and alternates stoneware beds so that each is in inlet and outlet mode. Depending upon the amount of VOCs contained in the process gas, the energy released from the combustion can be self-sustaining. At 96% thermal energy recovery, the outlet temperature may be only 74 degrees F. (23 degrees C.) higher than the inlet gas temperature.

Components of a traditional RTO (regenerative thermal oxidizer) include a system fan, motor, burner, heat exchange media, flow control valves, electronic & automatic system controls, temperature recorder, and exhaust stack. The system’s outer skin is typically ceramic and fiver-lined, but comprised primarily of steel.

While water may look like it’s pure, simple, clean and ready to be consumed without a second thought, the fact is there are a whole lot of no-see-ums in that clear liquid that could cause a whole lot of grief.

We’re not just talking about tap water, although that is a good portion of the water we consume in America. We are also referring to bottled water. The home tap and the bottled water may contain chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, aluminum, lead, antibiotics, hormones and fecal coliforms. The story is that water contains much more than many people realize, and most of it is not good for human health.

The water on tap in the house is monitored by certain regulations that allow acceptable levels of contaminants to get a free ride in the life-giving liquid. And further regulations also state the water should not have other water-borne diseases such as cholera or typhoid fever. While this may be comforting to read about, it does not address the reality that humans and Mother Nature may pollute the water we are drinking.

Consider this as well. Even if the tap water and bottled water have what is classified as acceptable levels of certain contaminants, this may be acceptable to certain people whose immune systems are not compromised. If a different demographic is considered, such as pregnant women or AIDS patients, this is another matter entirely.

Our very safety is at stake and we need to address the issue with alacrity. The only way to make certain the at home water system offers the purest and freshest water possible is to consider a water distillation system and not just a filtration system. Filtration systems are often the source of contamination due to improperly cleaned filters.

Water distillers make tap water as pure as it can be, and there is no other method that is more effective at doing this. Sticking with a water distillation system will be the best household investment for now and the future.

Bottled water is usually the choice of active on the go people who want to slake their thirst. However same old, same old, can get boring; so innovative souls have taken to kicking up their water in a couple of ways – flavoring it or enhancing it.

Flavoring water isn’t a new idea as millions of years ago cave men were known to dunk certain leaves into hot water and drink the brew. While our water and tea is no doubt more civilized these days, the same principle applies – people prefer flavored water over plain water.

The choices on the market today for flavored waters are regular or carbonated and they are the pick of smart professionals who know when and how to cut calories. Sugar based drinks pack on pounds and others use artificial sweeteners that have questionable side effects. Even today the safety of aspartame is still being debated.

The flavor of choice is a personal one, but the prices may vary with the flavored lot coming in at a tad more than the regular bottled versions and sodas. Now if budget is a consideration then flavoring is something that can be done at home in the kitchen with the help of a lemon, orange or lime. For those with more of a spirit of adventure, try using melon or other berries topped off with a leaf or two of mint.

If the love of the running circuit is bottled water, consider stainless steel and not plastic to reduce chemicals leaching out into the water once the bottle gets hot. Stick to low cal or no cal additives and call it a winner. On the other hand, enhanced water has its followers as well.

Enhanced water is just water that has added electrolytes and vitamins. This will be found in most of the sports drinks on the market. However, sports drinks pack a sugar punch and hide either the same or a higher number of calories than sodas. By the way, many of the sports drinks also have salt to help maintain body stasis while working out. Our bodies don’t really need that extra salt if all we are interested in is a few extra vitamins.

Be aware that the vitamin-enhanced drinks aren’t really all that special because the vitamins they are enhanced with are ones found in a healthy balanced diet. Check the labels as well for the sneaky twins – glucose and fructose. These sugars will ramp up calorie intake.

Being aware of what is in bottled waters – flavored or enhanced, may save money over the long term and help with weight loss on another level. Smart consumers need to be checking the fine print on the labels before guzzling too many of either of these highly marketed bottled waters.

If you don’t know this little piece of information, then it definitely has the potential to cause you a great deal of harm. We’re talking about unknowingly drinking contaminated tap water – the very water in your home.

Not knowing that your tap water is contaminated with hundreds of things you’d rather not know about may cause you an inordinate amount of trouble now and later in life. Did you know that drinking contaminated water is one of the leading causes of stomach distress?

Makes sense if you stop to think about it. All those chemicals swimming around in your acidic stomach, interacting with each other and your body as it tries to maintain the status quo. Not a pretty picture at all.

Sure there are laws in place that say this and that about our water and its quality or lack thereof, but if you take a good look at each different state and county, etc. you’ll find a wide range of what the local governments consider to be acceptable contamination levels. Imagine that, acceptable contamination levels. This means that you are drinking water that has a certain level and certain unknown number of pollutants in it and this is considered acceptable by the local government.

The usual argument is that “The levels are so low they won’t harm anyone.” Statistics show otherwise and if you take a sample of your tap water to a private lab, you’ll find out in a hurry what other goodies are in your water that shouldn’t be there. While the arguments sound plausible at first blush, start taking them apart when you do some online research about water quality. That will wake you up in a hurry.

Here is another thing to contemplate. You know that antibiotic your child just about finished, but only had three pills left? That should have been thrown out in the wastebasket, but instead it may have possibly been flushed down the toilet. Multiple this scenarios by millions in a large city and you have the medicine showing up in your tap water later.

Contaminated water is the next biggest problem we face as a society and we need to do something to protect our families. The only answer to ensuring our safety at home and getting the purest, freshest water we can, is to invest in a water distillation system. No other method of purification is as effective as distillation.

Looks good, smells good, tastes OK – then it must be OK? Right? If you’re talking about American tap water, just because it looks OK, smells OK and the taste isn’t bad, doesn’t mean it is all right to drink.

It’s sad, but true, that water may look just delicious, but in reality over the long-term it may be deadly. Yes, the water on tap in your home. The one you make tea from, mixed drinks, and just pour a cold glass on a hot day. That very water may have things in it that may shock you. Well in fact, it will shock you.

How happy would you be if someone told you that the water you have in your morning glass of fruit drink has a kitchen sink full of chemicals in it from pesticides to household cleaners, and from antibiotics to sex hormones? If that hasn’t made you stop drinking tap water, then we don’t know what will.

Drinking this stuff is a problem; it’s just that simple, and using it to cook or bath in isn’t a super idea either and here is why. Research has shown that most cancers we develop have been linked to low levels of chemicals in tap water – the leading culprit? The number one chemical that causes numerous cancers is chlorine, which is noted to cause rectal cancer, breast cancer and bladder cancer.

Pesticides, herbicides and other similar chemicals leach into the ground water and eventually make their way into our tap and our bottled water. Right – the bottled water. Surprised? You shouldn’t be, because at least 25% of the bottled waters on the market come from a tap and they are not subjected to the same tests our water at home may be.

It’s one thing to be an adult and drink contaminated water, as our immune systems are more fully developed than a child’s. So think about this. That tap water may have a mega load of dangerous chemicals in it and our children are consuming it. Kids aren’t able to flush out toxins like that. They need to be drinking purer water.

Have you taken a look lately at your local water plant? If not, it might be time that you did. The trip will open your eyes like nothing else will. Our urban infrastructure is deteriorating rapidly and upkeep is second to last on the list of things to do. These older structures are simply not able to keep up with the increasing load of contaminants that find their way into our water. Remember that plant is sending water to your house and you have no idea what it in it.

Consider this as well. If you regularly drink tap water and have stomach problems did you give some thought to the connection? More than 35% of gastrointestinal difficulties are the direct result of drinking contaminated water. It’s time to put that glass of water back down on the counter and do some serious hunting for a system to purify your tap water.

The only water purification system that is able to provide the purest, freshest water for our health is distillation; the only process that ensures the water is clean and safe to drink. No other water purification method is as effective as distillation.

Epcon uses several time-honored strategies to abate the formation of NOx, a noxious mixture if the pun may be excused.

NOx and Sox emissions are components of acid rain. When mixed with these toxic emissions in the clouds with the presence of water vapor; nitric and sulphuric acid is formed. NOx also is an active ingredient in smog (photochemical ozone). By reacting with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the presence of sunlight, “smog” becomes a potent and dangerous respiratory and eye irritant. NOx is primarily composed of NO and NO2, although most thermal NOx is NO.

Acid rain first became well-known to the public during the early 1970s when toxic clouds hovering over the American Appalachian lands began making its chemical presence felt, as a type of precipitated smog. Episodes of smog have become synonymous with air pollution, most typically and in its strongest concentrations over urban areas configured in a manner where pollutants are somehow trapped. Atmospheric anomalies such as temperature inversions between cold and warm layers also can influence the formation and maintenance of smog outbreaks, such as what was experienced in Salt Lake City during the winter of 1976.

Epcon has chosen several effective strategies proven efficacious in abatement of industrial-caused NOx environments. These strategies involve the reduction of fuel NOx via the use of low Nitrogen gaseous fuels, and the control of oxidation of nitrogen bound hydrocarbons; combustion modifications involved in the reduction of thermal NOx, which is a by-product of unnecessarily high temperatures in the flame and flue gas clean-up.

Combustion modifications can be brought about by reducing the flame temperature through premixing fuel and air, and by decreasing the O2 content with flue gas recirculation (FGR). Flue gas clean-up is simply a way to eliminate unavoidable NOx. The Epcon-approved methods here are Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR), and newer technologies such as catalytic absorption and wet scrubbers. Industries served include commercial sector, prime contractors, government, NQA-1, and ASME.

Emissions of NOx should be abated or controlled for a number of reasons; as a contributor to smog, the presence of NOx can have serious or even deadly consequences.

Nitrogen Oxide is quite prevalent in the Earth’s atmosphere. That said, the “noxious” mixture can be truly noxious as an active ingredient in smog (photochemical ozone) when it becomes a respiratory and eye irritant. NOx helps to form smog by reacting with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the presence of sunlight. NOx is primarily composed of NO and NO2, although most thermal NOx is NO.

Smog can be deadly. During smog “attacks” in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Los Angeles, hundreds of people have been killed due to the noxious mixture causing suffocation.

A winter temperature inversion caused the episode in Salt Lake City in 1976, which sickened many as well as providing a murky grayish-brown cast to a winter sky, which only a few miles away featured blue skies and uninhibited sunshine. Under the layer of smog in Utah’s Salt Lake Valley, pollutants were trapped beneath a “lid” of sinking cold air as warmer air (which was layered in temperature inversions) struggled for ascendancy underneath. Cold air in the lowest layers near the surface completed an “atmospheric sandwich.” The Utah situation was exacerbated by mountains surrounding the valley on three sides, which made clearing the stagnant atmosphere especially difficult to achieve. The 1976 event in Utah lasted for several months without interruptions.

Industrial emissions of NOx are easier to curtail. These can be either abated or controlled by primary measures of flue gas treatment technologies, such as burner optimization (excess air control, burner fine tuning), air staging (overfire air or two-stage combustion), flue gas recirculation, fuel staging (turning the burner off, fuel biasing, reburning, or three-stage combustion), and the implementation of low NOx burners.

Burner optimization techniques and low NOx burners are used to minimize the formation of NOx during combustion. In air staging and flue gas recirculation technologies, the aim is to reduce the oxygen availability to help reduce NOx formation and complete the combustion.

While you may not know it, there are drugs in your drinking water. If that doesn’t scare you, it should, particularly if you have children.

If you have spent any time online looking for information about your drinking water – and many people do – you may have discovered that your water isn’t as clean as you would like it to be. This, of course, means leaving the water quality up to you – the end consumer.

Finding pharmaceutical drugs in the drinking water is just about the last straw that broke the camel’s back. The ramifications of this are quite enormous if you stop to think about it. It is even more of a concern when you realize that over 86 percent of Americans get their on tap water from a public utility.

You would think you would be safe if your water comes from the local water company; however, that is not always the case. The sad fact of the matter is that over the years the federal government has made things next to impossible to maintain decent water infrastructures.

The big words only mean our nation’s water supply – while still classified as mostly safe – is being provided by a crumbling delivery system. Our systems are older, decaying and in some instances, on their last legs. There is virtually no funding available to upgrade the systems and so the decay continues. Ask yourself what problems this will bode for the future. You may not like the answer.

Difficulties like this mean local utilities have a constant battle to meet federal clean water standards and keep their water system in good running order. A lack of funds makes this hard to do and what happens is piecemeal replacement of parts of decaying systems are performed – like a patchwork quilt. As a result of less than optimum water systems, accidents like sewage spills are a regular occurrence. This, of course, makes our drinking water unsafe.

There is no quick fix for this problem either. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency calculates that hundreds of billions of dollars are required to even begin to address these infrastructure problems. Think about this! The health care system is in even worse shape than our water systems and it too needs a major overhaul. Where do you think the money will come from to fund work like this? Right – your tax dollars.

What does a smart water consumer do? They invest in a home water distillation system that is guaranteed to provide clean, fresh and safe drinking water on demand. Really, distilling is the way to go and it provides homeowners with the ability to offer clean, fresh drinking water daily, with no fears about what strange things may be in it.

The right to water is something that most people don’t really think about. They turn the tap on and there it is, free flowing and in most instances relatively plentiful – at least in developed nations. This isn’t the case in other parts of the world.

We humans take a lot for granted, and one thing that we abuse on a daily basis is water use. It’s there for us and we don’t think twice about where it came from, how it is treated, whether or not we will have any tomorrow, and if we should ration it. While these might sound like radical musings, rationing and the possibility of no water are real in many parts of the world.

Here’s an interesting question: Do we have the right to water? Most people would likely say yes, but did you also know that in some areas of the world this is a right enshrined in legislation? That may seem pretty drastic, but stop and think about that for a minute. In some areas of our planet, water is so important people fight over it and get killed for it. Scary thought, but a reality.

In 2007, the Water for the World Resolution was introduced into the House of Representatives. Among other things it stated, ” Water is a common resource to which we all have an equal right and a responsibility to protect.”

While a lovely sentiment it seems people’s rights to water are being violated on a daily basis. Consider these statistics to get a clear picture of what we mean. There are roughly 1.7 billion people in the world who still have no access to clean water. Can you imagine what they are drinking?

Over 2.3 billion people suffer the ravages of water-borne diseases every year – and we wonder why the health care systems of various third world countries are strained to the breaking point.

Diseases contracted from water are not just because a source is unclean to begin with, but are the result of the pricing of water. If people cannot afford water, they will source it wherever they are able to, even if that means contaminated water.

Think about this. Water is critical to our very survival. Don’t we owe others and ourselves the responsibility of caring for and maintaining fresh water supplies with decent access?

The post Sources of Water Pollution first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
With the way things seem to be going on planet Earth, one of the greatest fears people have, aside from wondering whether or not we have enough water, is how polluted is the water?

You may be wondering how water gets polluted in the first place. Where does the pollution come from? In most instances there are usually two types of pollution sources – the non-point source and the point source. Not to confuse anyone here, the non-point source generally comes about as a result of runoff directly spilling pollutants into a water source. If you are thinking things like herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals, you’d be right on the money.

On the other hand the point source would be considered to be the result of a broken pipe, underground line, or ruptured sewage tank leak. If we’re dealing with a sewage/manure leak or spill, this is referred to as organic pollution. These types of pollutants are mostly found emanating from large agricultural operations.

The fecal matter ambushes the water and sucks the oxygen right out of the water, due to the high levels of nitrogen and phosphates. The results are dead plants and fish. Obviously this is not water you would care to drink.

Another source of water pollution, also causing depleted levels of oxygen in water near the source, is thermal pollution. What happens here is the power plant or other facility (even a drug manufacturing plant) uses water as a coolant for their operations. The water returns to the source hotter than when it was used, which affects oxygen levels with the same results as organic pollution – dead fish and plants.

Ecological pollution, call this Mother Nature pulling a fast one, results from natural disasters like landslides or a volcanic eruption. It could even be something as simple as a dead animal left floating in the water. Again, this is not water you would want to drink. As you may gather, the sources of water pollution are endless, and most of these things we do not have any control over -or do we?

We do have control over our drinking water and control over making it the purest, freshest water for our own health and welfare. This is achieved by water distillation; the only process that will ensure the water is clean and safe to drink. No other water purification method is as effective as distillation.

Doing this involves the use of a water distillation system that makes water as pure as it can be. No other purification method is as effective, so this would assure a safe drinking supply in your own home year round. Fighting water pollution would be an overall agenda to follow for the greater good of the world, but being safe at home is the first priority.

The post Is That Water Really Safe to Drink? first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
Heaven knows we have all asked ourselves this question at one time or another after taking a drink of water right out of the tap in the kitchen – is this water really safe to drink?

That’s a really good question and the answer in most cases is a qualified maybe, and it could depend on what type of water purification system you have in place. However, having said that, have you had your water tested lately? If the answer is no, then it might be time to do that. It’s not a complicated process and the results don’t take forever to come back.

What happens when water is tested? Basically what happens is the sample you take to the lab will be put into a container that has a chemical reactant in it. If the water turns color, pollution is present. The range of colors that show up tell the lab technician what type of contaminant is present. If you don’t know this type of information about your own water supply in the house, you may be compromising not only your own health, but also that of your family members.

This will totally boggle the imagination. Did you realize that there are well over 80,000 chemicals and pharmaceutical contaminants in our water supply? The scary thing is, where there is smoke there is usually fire – meaning if there is one type of contaminant present in your water supply, chances are there are going to be others found as well.

If the above figures don’t give you pause for thought, then think about this. There are roughly 2,000 (give or take) chemicals often found in our water that are noted carcinogens (cause cancer). Yes, that would include the chlorine in most water supplies intended to kill parasites. You may be thinking by now that the Environmental Protection Agency is the watchdog for things like this, and they’re doing their job, but are they?

Although tap water is indeed tested by the Environmental Protection Agency, it isn’t done with the same frequency as it is performed at water treatment facilities. This is because they just don’t have enough people to go around to test our reservoirs. So what about your drinking water at home?

While you might think that a filtration system would be the answer to the drinking water dilemma, you could be wrong. The only method of getting the very purest drinking water possible is through a water distillation system.

Water distillers make your tap water as pure as it can be, and there is no other method that is more effective at doing this. This is particularly the case if you are talking about filtration systems. While they may filter out some things, and mask the taste and odor, the filters are often a source of contamination on their own. Be smart and stick with a water distillation system.

For years there has been a great debate over which kind of water is the best, filtered or distilled. It usually boils down to personal choice, but the fact remains that for the purest water available, water distillation is the best method of obtaining safe drinking water.

When it comes to water, what you see isn’t always what you get. It may look fine, seem fine and even smell fine, but there isn’t any way to really tell if it is fine – not unless it is tested or you distill your own water at home.

Now you’d think that if you sent a water sample away for testing that you could rely on the results, correct? Evidently that isn’t always a good idea. Apparently, in Arizona, the owner of a lab who was hired to perform fecal coliform and E coli tests faked it and didn’t do the testing. The lab owner was supposed to test wastewater from irrigation canals and wastewater plants.

It wasn’t until one of the regular clients couldn’t understand why their test results were always negative that the fraud came to light. Stop and think about this – if you can’t truly rely on lab results, where does that leave you in terms of your own water supply at home? Not that we are saying all lab tests will be faked, but that there is the possibility of something going wrong when third parties handle important things such as this.

The only way to handle these situations with certainty, is to have a home water distillation system. Distillation is the only effective water purification method. You can’t beat it for purity and consistent results every time.

People seem to think that tap water; bottled water, and even other home filtration systems are the absolute best. Granted each of these methods has an attraction to it such as convenience, but this does not address the fact that the water is NOT pure. Tap water alone has multiple pollutants, toxins and other chemicals in it – yes, this even includes pharmaceutical drugs.

Bottled water is actually just tap water that’s been run through a filter to handle the odor or taste, or both. Home filtration systems with carbon filters do make the water smell and taste better, but the filters get clogged and become a pollutant themselves. This applies even to reverse osmosis and that means filtered water may be MORE contaminated than the source. That’s pretty scary.

Distillation on the other hand gives the user the freshness of rain; water that is sparkling and ready to use immediately. Just use regular tap water. What happens is that the tap water gets vaporized into sterilized steam, and from there it is condensed back to it’s a pure liquid state.

Any waterborne contaminants like are removed. The result is 100% purified, clean, great tasting water that is safe for you and your family. This is the way Mother Nature intended things to be.

It’s the only water purification method that literally makes water brand new once again.

Let’s face it, the purer our drinking water is, the happier we are. We know and appreciate the benefits of pure drinking water and realize it’s fast becoming a rare commodity in the world. It’s time to take matters into your own hands.

The lengths some of us go to make sure we have clean, pure water to drink might even be funny if it weren’t for the fact we spend so much time and money doing it. We buy bottled water under the mistaken impression it is pure; install home purification systems that merely mask the taste of the tap water, and may even become sources of contamination themselves. So what’s the real scoop? Bottled, tap, purified, reverse osmosis or what?

Well, let’s take a short step back and figure out roughly how much Americans spend on what they think is pure water each year. Would you believe over $35 billion dollars on bottled water by brand name companies? That’s a startling amount of money going to waste. Check out the most recent brags in the media by Pepsi and CocaCola that say they’re predicting bottled water will out sell their soda products. Isn’t that something?

If they figure water will outstrip soft drinks, then that should tell you water is becoming the main focus of many American’s lives, and they want the best there is. Well, bottled water is not the best there is. What is really needed is clean, healthy and safe water, but not have to pay an arm and a leg for it — and what doesn’t cost big bucks these days?

Bottled water just doesn’t cut it as it comes from the same source your tap water does, with the exception of some form of purification; so it remains just that — tap water with stuff in it you don’t really want to drink. Ditto for reverse osmosis, as it does not take out chlorine, herbicides and pesticides. You get the idea. No, the only really tried and true method of getting pure, healthy and safe drinking water is with distillation.

The water distillation process gives you something called “rain in a chamber.” You use regular tap water and it’s vaporized, converting to sterilized steam as it gets heated beyond boiling temperature. This takes place in a stainless steel vaporizing chamber. The vapor diverts into a stainless steel condensing coil and gases, including chlorine, are eliminated. The vapor is then condensed back to its original state. Now that is pure and fresh.

Water distillation is the best process to get the freshest and purest water, like Mother Nature intended it to be. Distillation is the only method that produces the PUREST drinking water possible. No other water purification method is as effective.
