With only a few months left in 2011, it is time to look at IRA contributions.

“This is one of the best times to start looking at your 2011 IRA contributions and one of the smartest things you can do is add mutual funds to the account,” said Evan Tunis, president and CEO of Next Exit Retirement. “If you don’t know what type of funds will work to your advantage, then just call me, and we can discuss what would work the best.”

The beauty of IRAs is that they have many advantages that will make a smart investor quite pleased with the prospects for their future. The IRA can help manage retirement plans with flexibility and allows funds to be used in the IRA to be invested in non-traditional investments. “And that means, you could choose to invest in businesses, tax liens, real estate or even loans,” added Tunis.

The bottom line is that IRAs are very good alternatives for those who wish to diversify their investment portfolio, and all of the investments can be done within the same account envelope or structure. “That means it is a very handy tool for investors wanting to look to their future retirement and who want to grow their wealth to be ready to retire,” Tunis remarked.

“LLCs are often used in situations like this,” indicated Tunis, “as LLC programs let people secure their investments. That means that IRAs, which are time sensitive, tend to be good choices for those wanting a safer investment option with total control over the investments and the retirement funds.”

IRAs are a great way to save for the future. “If this appeals to you, call me and we can review your options. The advice is free and the expertise and customer service you get is superior. This is my job and I work to ensure your money works for your retirement,” Tunis stated.

Mention long-term care, and most people think of older men. Yet more than 70 percent of nursing home check-ins are women.

Long-term care is an issue for all Americans, no matter their age. The earlier you buy the coverage, the better off you will be later. Additionally, the earlier and younger you are when coverage is bought, the less the premiums are. For example, if you start paying on a long-term care policy in your early 40s, you would pay around $5,000 a year. If you wait another 10 years or so, you would be paying at least $7,500 or more annually.

Still not comfortable with the idea of preparing for the future? Did you realize that the kind of care you may need when you are older is usually not covered by a traditional health insurance policy and it is not covered by Medicare, no matter what you might think? Medicaid only offers limited, if any, coverage for long-term care, but that is only after you have spent all your own money.

If you are a female, you need to know how to plan and act on your long-term care needs. With nursing home costs running about $70,000 to $80,000 a year, any savings you may have can rapidly vanish. Act now and take your long-term care into your own hands.

Wondering what is covered by a long-term care policy? A policy like this can address a variety of services that may include, but are not limited to, adult day-care, nursing home care and in-home health care. What you get is dependent on the amount of coverage you want and can pay for. Some policies include an inflation adjustment. Be prepared to pay more for this option. You can opt to go for a lifetime policy, but the more common ones are two, three, and five years. The final cost will depend on the level of benefits you want, health factors and your age.

If you are looking to lower the costs of your premium, then speak to an insurance specialist about the elimination period before your coverage starts. This can range from no days and coverage that starts right away, or you can opt for 180 days and pay your own costs. In other words, the longer the elimination period, the less expensive the policy will be.

Take the time to speak to an experienced insurance specialist about long-term care policies for women. It will be well worth your long-term peace of mind.

With newer long-term care products on the market, now may be the time to start shopping for the future.
It does not matter what age you are, long-term care is something you need to think about. Just try not to leave it until the very last minute, when the expense will be much higher. The most critical thing to remember is that much of what you may need for long-term care is not covered by Medicare, which is a major mistake many older Americans make in thinking that it does cover them. Get busy sourcing some of the newer products on the market, as they are more cost effective.
Long-term care costs may run up to at least $80,000 a year, which is a significant chunk of money to find, even if you had funds stashed away. It could wipe out your savings in no time flat. However, with the latest line of combination insurance and long-term care products (dubbed hybrid life insurance), you might like the idea of investing a lump sum and choosing your long-term care coverage and death benefit.
The combo plans are not easily compared to individual, sole focus long-term care policies largely because the combination product is usually a lump sum investment. This approach to being covered for long-term care, if it is needed, is quite popular and sales of the combination products shot up to 62 percent in 2010. To put that into dollar terms, that would represent $1.2 billion according to the Life Insurance and Market Research Association.
Put another way, the new combination products symbolize about 6 percent of the individual life insurance market premium, and that even though older Americans (in their 60s) represented a large portion of this market, younger people were also interested. And why wouldn’t they be interested when they discover there are some very significant tax benefits to the payout of annuity values (and that includes contract gains), provided tax free under the Pension Protection Act of 2006.
How do you know which product to select? In the case of a long-term care policy on cash value life insurance, you would be able to control the specific term. Anything unused would pass to your named beneficiary, unlike regular stand-alone long-term care policies in which anything not used is not returned.
If you are interested in taking advantage of a tax deferred annuity, you might like the idea of investing a lump sum with a life insurance company, with part of the cash value being earmarked for long-term care benefits. Again, these are issues that are important to some and not to others. This is why it is best to discuss these issues with an experienced insurance agent.
You may decide the long-term care benefits are not as all-inclusive as those offered by a stand-alone policy. Or, for those with pre-existing conditions who cannot qualify for long-term care insurance, underwriting issues for the hybrid policies are not as rigorous. Additionally, you need to be aware that if you withdraw from a hybrid early, the annuities may be penalized twice – once by the IRS for taking funds out before you are 59 ½ years old and a surrender charge for early withdrawal (usually within the first seven years of the life of the product).

These products are complex, but for those who choose to plan ahead of time, it is well worth their while. It is time to call an insurance specialist and find out how these policies work.

Many people do not put much time into planning for their future care. Without long-term care in place later in life things may be very difficult.

“Long-term care is an issue many Americans want to shove under the rug,” explained Evan Tunis, president and CEO of Nextexitretirement.com. “It is one of those things no one really wants to confront when they are younger and in relative good health. The thing is, with each passing year the reality is you may need long-term care, and if you have no provisions in place to pay for that, the alternatives are not very appealing.”

Even though life expectancies have increased, the result causes a gap in the number of people needing long-term care and the resources being offered by the system. It is a large gap and many fall through the cracks. The brutal fact is that many Americans may reach old age and have no resources to pay for long-term care and the alternatives may be government funded homes or private assisted living situations.

“If you have read the news lately, you will know there are many horror stories about nursing homes, assisted living centers and government run senior’s facilities,” said Tunis. “Bad things do not happen to everyone, but most seniors want to hold onto their independence for as long as they can. Without long-term care in place, that is not always possible.”
For those that do not seriously think there is a burgeoning aging and care crisis, consider these numbers. There are approximately nine million Americans over the age of 65 years old that need long-term care services of some kind. This number will increase as more people reach the age of 65. Long-term care services are in heavy demand and to meet that demand not only does there need to be increased facilities, but the cost of care will skyrocket. “In 2010 alone, long-term care costs were on average about $75,000 a year, and this is not just for those over the age of 65,” added Tunis. “It could happen to anyone, at any age, and that is something to seriously think about.”

When does someone know if they need long-term care? “This typically happens when a person acquires an illness, whether it is a cognitive illness or disability that keeps them from being able to carry out the basic necessities of daily living,” Tunis explained. “The cost of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is catastrophically high. If you plan now for the future, you will have everything secured and not worry about how to pay the medical bills.”
“It is my job to be here for you and answer any questions you may have about long-term care policies and how to shop for them and what they can do for you,” stated Tunis. “Do not hesitate to contact me. What people do not think about is that just because they have good health now, does not mean things cannot change. It is best to be prepared for just about any eventuality when it comes to your most precious asset – your health and independence.”

Life insurance is a personal choice and one that is sometimes confusing. It doesn’t need to be overwhelming.

There are so many terms when it comes to understanding life insurance. People have a tendency to get lost and frustrated, and then give up. For instance, how is term insurance different than life insurance, or is it? Fair question, and the answer is simply this – term life insurance, also referred to as pure insurance without the investment part, is a policy that offers insurance coverage for a designated time period and pays out a fixed pre-determined amount to a beneficiary should the insured unexpectedly die during the life of the policy. In terms of policy duration, you could choose anywhere from 10 years to 30 or more years, if that suits your circumstances.

Really, the goal of any life insurance policy should be to offer a guarantee that if an untimely death takes place, those left behind get a sufficient amount of money. Life insurance products ought to have lower premium amounts as well, and that is doable by purchasing a term plan. The main benefit of term life when you compare it to other kinds of insurance is that it typically pays out a larger amount for a smaller premium, which many buyers find attractive. Keep in mind, though, that term insurance does not accrue any kind of investment funds.

Before making the final decision to buy term insurance, there are a few things you should think about. First and foremost, compare the quotes you get from every insurance company you talk to about coverage. This is easy to do online and often you can compare prices instantly. Having said that, do not buy a policy based on price alone; consider the whole policy and what it has to offer. The bottom line is that you need a policy that covers you, not just some cheap policy. This is where you get told to read the fine print.

When filling out the forms for a quote, tell the truth on your application. If you do not and the error, omission, or lie is caught later, your insurance company will not pay out on the policy. This can have serious consequences, so take the extra time to fill it out accurately.

Another reason for reading the fine print is that you need to know precisely what is being covered and what you are paying for in the long run. Do not be enticed by bells and whistles and other add-ons that do not have any purpose for you, as it will only increase the premium. On a similar note, the younger you are, the cheaper your quote for a term life insurance policy.

While this may sound like common sense, stay as healthy as possible. If you live a healthy life, your policy rates stay lower. Do not excessively drink or smoke, consume massive quantities of junk food, or be a couch potato. Lose weight if you need to shed some pounds and maintain a healthy weight for your age. This is good, sound advice, that unfortunately many people do not follow, and then wonder why their policy premiums are higher. When in doubt about how to shop for term insurance, make it a point to connect with an experienced life insurance agent. They always have the answers to your questions.

Someone who is 20-years-old has a 30 percent chance of being disabled before reaching retirement. Everyone at some point in their lives, typically when they are younger, thinks they are invincible. Since we are not invincible, when you start a career, you want to protect your assets. You might be thinking this is irrelevant and that you don’t need or can’t afford to pay for disability insurance.

But think about this – can you afford to not have disability insurance if you suddenly find that you cannot work and pay your bills? There are a number of different kinds of disability insurance – mortgage disability, credit disability and individual disability income. The ironic thing with insurance is that people go ahead and insure their lives, because they realize it is valuable to do so. However, those same people do not insure their livelihood. The bottom line is this – your ability to work and earn money to pay the bills is one of the least protected assets you have.

If you lost your job tomorrow because you had been in a car accident and rendered a quadriplegic, how would you make money? Any savings you had on hand would be wiped out fast, as we all know medical expenses these days are astronomical. Very soon, you would be strapped for cash and wondering how you would be able to live. If you have disability insurance, you have a plan in place for the unexpected moments that happen in life.

Disability insurance does not have to be expensive and you can ask an experienced insurance agent for assistance in choosing the right policy for you. That’s their job, and they can find you the best deal. Do not leave finding the right disability insurance policy to chance, as you may choose the wrong one and it won’t cover you for what you need.

Individual disability income typically replaces about 45 to 60 percent of your gross income tax free. Coverage is provided if you become disabled as a result of an illness or an accident. But the policy should offer more than that. For instance, make certain the policy covers you if you are not able to work in your current job, not just any occupation. You will also want to ask if the policy is guaranteed renewable so long as you keep paying the premiums.

Generally speaking, most policies like this are payable up to the age of 65, although there are some companies that may provide extended coverage up to the age of 70. Keep in mind that there is usually an elimination period – the length of time you must be disabled before the policy takes over. That could be anywhere from one to six months. By the way, the shorter the elimination timeframe, the more expensive your policy will be. You might want to take that into consideration when you are buying disability insurance. Additionally, what you do for work is related to the likelihood that you may be injured and not able to work in that particular job.

For expert help in choosing the right disability policy for your lifestyle, consult with a knowledgeable insurance agent who can point you in the right direction, and find precisely what you need to take care of the most important thing in your life, your ability to keep financially stable.

Having Fort Lauderdale health insurance is crucial for those inevitable life events that need medical care.

There are a great number of Americans who wonder why they should bother to have health insurance, as they don’t think they will ever use it. In other words, why are they shelling out good money every month for something they aren’t using or benefitting from right away?

It’s like having house insurance. You don’t see a benefit from it right away, but if something happens, like a fire, then you know what the benefits are immediately when you file a claim. It’s the same thing with Fort Lauderdale health insurance; without it you could be financially wiped out with one accident or illness.

Fort Lauderdale health insurance just isn’t something that people purchase and then use right away. It can’t be consumed like a product you buy. Instead, consider it an investment; an investment in your long-term good health. If you need it, it will be there to cover you for medical expenses.

The other thing to remember is that by buying health insurance, you are protecting yourself against medical risks; just like buying house insurance to protect against the risk of fire, etc. If you don’t have insurance, the cost is devastating. With insurance, the costs are less and you could at least manage to handle some of the financial fallout.

Could you go through life not have anything happen to you medically? Sure you could, but that doesn’t happen often, as people do get older and their health changes. That’s life. For those who choose to not buy health insurance and instead save the money, remember this, the first time you need a doctor, you will be forking over every penny you had saved and then some to cover that one bill. Then where are you? Right; right back where you started from, no insurance and now, no money.

The last thing anyone needs is a major financial setback in this economy. Think ahead, plan for the future, get the right kind of health insurance to deal with any possible medical problems and know that should something go wrong, you’re covered and won’t be financially destitute.

If there is one thing in life that people can count on, it is that life is not predictable. While it makes living exciting at times, it can be a problem health-wise if you do not have insurance.

“While a lot of people figure they will be just fine when it comes to not having Florida Keys health insurance, the truth is, no one really knows for sure what will happen in life. They may have an accident, break a leg, contract pneumonia or be diagnosed with asthma. Guessing how healthy you are going to be is a little like playing Russian roulette. You may not get the bullet and then again, you may, so why take chances with your health?” asked Evan Tunis, Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

If people are uncertain of what they need for health coverage, they will be heartened to know that there are a wide variety of options available to them on the market. If price is a concern, it is quite possible to find suitable Florida Keys health insurance at a reasonable price. “You need to know what you are looking for, what your budget is, what you need in terms of care and that includes pre-existing conditions and how often you usually see a doctor a year,” Tunis said.

For those looking for health insurance for their families, the best place to start looking is by making a list of what is needed. That may include the medical conditions of all family members, their drugs and how often they see a doctor. Everyone has different needs and the idea is to find something that covers as many of those needs as possible.

When looking online for various Florida Keys health insurance plans, find out precisely what kinds of plans are out there that would suit a family situation. There may be various routes to choose here as well. “For instance, if you are employed, you might get less expensive coverage through work. If not, you will want to speak directly to your local health insurance specialist for help. That’s my job, and I can assist you in finding what you need, quickly and for a reasonable price,” Tunis said.

It is always helpful to check into what the limitations are for each plan under consideration. Every plan has some restrictions, but they are not always the same, so it is wise to know what those are, particularly if there are family members with pre-existing conditions. To that end, also be on the lookout for plans to take care of prescriptions. “If you and/or anyone in the family are taking pills, this needs to be factored into the health insurance coverage equation as well,” Tunis said.

While people tend to think twice before buying health insurance because of the price, individual health plans do not need to be expensive.

It’s a fact that a large number of companies are no longer offering health coverage because it costs them too much money. This means there are a lot of people who need to find individual Cape Coral health insurance plans to suit their needs. While it takes a bit of time to find specifically what you want, there is something out there for you. If you are having problems finding something, then talk to the health insurance expert who can find you coverage quickly. After all, they know their business inside out.

One of the first things you need to consider before shopping for Cape Coral health insurance is your budget. Figure out what you can pay each month and still be comfortable and have any emergencies covered. Your premiums will not be what you paid at work, because that was group insurance and less expensive. Just let the insurance agent know your budget and they’ll find what you need, if you need help.

While it’s great to search online for Cape Coral health insurance, you really need to be dealing directly with a local independent insurance agent. They work with a large number of insurance carriers in your area and can help you with the application process and answer those “what if” questions we all tend to have about health insurance. The other primary reason for dealing locally is that you will get great service if you have a claim or billing question.

Before calling the local health insurance agent, have in mind where you want to go if you need a hospital stay – the community hospital or the nearest big hospital. Do you want to stay with a certain physician? Write this down and discuss it with the expert agent. Many insurance carriers have discounted networks and thus lower costs for your plan, but you will have a limited choice in medical providers.

Take into consideration what you might be paying out in an emergency situation. Find out which ERs are covered. Find out about Urgent Care as well, because using Urgent Care is often far less expensive than the ER. And don’t forget about prescriptions. Many policies will have a lower priced premium if you use generic drugs only. If you are self-employed though, hedge your bets and go with brand name coverage; it’s worth the few extra dollars, just in case.

No matter what you need for Cape Coral health insurance, it can be found. All you have to do is ask your local professional health insurance agent.

Life is unpredictable. Without health insurance, it becomes even more of a moving target when medical expenses arise.

“It goes without saying that these days, people really do need health insurance, because you just don’t know what will happen today, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year. If you don’t have the proper health insurance coverage, you will be left holding an enormous medical bill if something bad happens and you likely won’t be able to pay it,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

While many Americans struggle with the specter of compulsory health insurance in the years to come, they worry about how they will pay for it. They have enough on their plate right now, without trying to find the extra cash to pay for health insurance premiums. Their primary goal, in many cases, is to just get food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

“But, therein lies a real dilemma,” Tunis said. “If one of the parents gets sick and needs medical care, their budget is completely blown and they may not be able to pay the bill. If they had Tallahassee health insurance, they would have likely be able to deal with the bill without going under financially.”

The best solution to the fear of being taken ill and being unable to deal with the expenses is to get health insurance. There are a number of factors to consider before anyone does ultimately choose what they think will work for them. For instance, anyone needing health insurance really needs to be aware of what coverage they really need. That may include coverage for unexpected medical issues because of an accident or coverage for an unexpected health condition that could happen to anyone, such as diabetes.

Shop around for various providers. Ask questions. Take notes. Compare policies. “Ask more questions and you will find something that fits your budget. Certainly, cost is a major consideration these days and you need to find something that you are able to manage,” Tunis said. “Those on a budget need to discuss this with the health insurance agent, so that they know what your parameters are when they look for policies for you.”

Something else that really does need to be taken into consideration is the customer service offered by the insurance company. “It’s interesting, because most people don’t even think about this, but you should, because if you have to make a claim, have a problem or a question, you will want help when you call. If you can’t get good service up front when you’re shopping for a policy, think twice about spending your money with that company,” Tunis said.

One of the hottest topics today is health insurance. Mostly, that is because of the cost of health care these days.

Virtually everywhere you go, you see, hear, read or talk about health care reform, health care in general and health insurance in particular – as in, whether or not you do or don’t have Miami health insurance. Health insurance is a hot button topic in more ways than one, but that’s nothing new. What is new in the health care mixture is the addition of health care reform and the eventuality of having to buy a health insurance policy in the future.

In the meantime, does health care reform address the cost of medical treatments? No, not really, as the costs are still going up and it seems like they will be in the foreseeable future. And really, why wouldn’t they when the insurance companies are supposed to give more benefits (an 80 percent loss ratio) to the consumers? Giving more benefits to the consumers means the cost of health insurance will go up too, to cover the shortfall. And yet, we still need Miami health insurance to be able to pay our medical bills when they arrive.

At some point in your life, you will have a medical emergency and we all know those can be financially draining, even with health insurance. Although many people don’t like to plan for disaster and illness, it is a very wise move to have the right kind of Miami health insurance to cover you when your medical moment arrives.

What you choose is largely a function of what you need for your current lifestyle and family situation, but if you are not sure what would work for you, you can always consult with a health insurance expert. The more information you have, the better informed you are. The better informed you are, the better health insurance you choose.

The irony today when it comes to health insurance comes from those who think they do not need it and they can save money by not paying premiums. That is all well and good until something happens and they do not have insurance coverage. What they may have saved plus a whole lot more will need to be paid out to cover for medical expenses. Is it really wise to not have health insurance when even the cost of sprained ankle could wipe out your bank account?

Health insurance issues these days are volatile, and for many, frightening. They do not need to be scary, not when you have access to a knowledgeable and skilled health insurance agent who will shop what you need for you. This is the best way to save money on Miami health insurance, because you will be covered when you need to be.

The best investment you could ever make in life is to protect your health. Sarasota health insurance would fit the bill perfectly.

Hands down, purchasing health insurance is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Everyone should protect their health, as it is the most valuable thing they “own.” Without your health, who will take care of you? Who will pay your bills if you don’t have health insurance? How will you manage in the world without adequate health insurance? These are tough and thought provoking questions. Do you have ready answers?

Many people do not have answers, because there are a lot who think they don’t need health insurance, because they’re just fine – right now. That does not mean they will always be fine. No one really knows from one minute to the next what will happen to our health. But what we do know is this: if you don’t have Sarasota health insurance and you get sick, need emergency medical care or land in hospital, your medical bills will be through the roof.

You’re right, there is no crystal ball that says tomorrow you will break your wrist, get pneumonia or be involved in an 18-wheeler wreck, so why worry about life’s “what if’s?” You worry about them because if you don’t, and you need medical care, there is nothing in place to pay your bills.

Can’t afford health insurance, you say? Actually, you can’t afford not to have health insurance, because with it, you would at least stand a chance of paying any medical bills incurred on your behalf. Yes, you might also need to pay some out-of-pocket expenses, but that would be nothing compared to the full bill you’d have to pay if you did not have health insurance.

This is a bit like the doctor advising an overweight patient to exercise and the patient starting to make excuses for why they can’t do that. To which the doctor replies: “What works best for your timetable, exercising an hour a day or being dead 24 hours a day?” It puts things into perspective doesn’t it? In other words, to protect your health for a reasonable price, you need to have health insurance coverage. There are no ifs, ands or buts here.

People don’t give their Orlando health insurance too much thought when filing for divorce. However, arrangements will need to be made to continue coverage.

“When people get married, they usually figure they’re going to be together for a long time to come. Unfortunately, these days, the divorce rates are quite high. One casualty of the divorce that people don’t tend to think about is their Orlando health insurance,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Whether a person is covered by their spouse’s insurance policy through their job or the insurance was bought from a private company, the spouses need to make some kind of arrangements about continued health insurance coverage. “If you’re wondering what you can do in a situation like this, I have a few tips that might come in handy. One of those tips is to join COBRA, but, only if you have a pre-existing condition. This federal law lets employees keep their health insurance coverage under an employer’s plan just so long as they keep paying the premium,” Tunis said.

Of interest is also the fact that the law allows spouses and other family members to keep getting coverage for up to three years after a divorce. “Yes, the premiums for COBRA are pricey, but if you are stuck, you at least have the option open until you can find Orlando health insurance through other means. This is really useful for those with pre-existing conditions; people who may have problems getting insurance from someone else,” Tunis said.

“Another thing to try is buying your own health insurance,” Tunis said. “Ask your employer if you can get on your company health plan, if they happen to have one. Don’t be too surprised to find out they may have a specific enrollment period to add new members. No company plan? Then you may need to opt for an individual Orlando health insurance policy, which is quite a liberating move when you’re involved in a divorce situation.”

When all else fails, there is the option of requesting a spouse keep the other member on their insurance policy. In other words, it would be mandated through the provisions of the divorce. This is a wise move if there are kids involved. In the alternative, a sum of money can be requested to help pay for insurance.

“For example, if you buy individual health insurance, you could ask that your spouse pay half. Make sure you have a good divorce lawyer in situations like this,” Tunis said.

Health care reform is touted as being a good thing. However, the industry is offering products that are not beneficial to consumers.

Many think health care reform will mean a healthier nation with more people getting access to health insurance. While that may be true to a certain extent, in reality, the insurance industry is beginning to see some unusual and not so beneficial products hit the marketplace; products that essentially mean those who buy them are buying something that is as good as having no Tampa health insurance. If you want to have your health care costs covered, in whole or in part, you need a traditional health insurance plan; it’s just that simple.

While it makes sense to save money by opting to buy a limited benefit plan or a discount medical plan, are you really saving any money in the long run? Chances are you are not saving money and may in fact be spending more money than you thought. Yes, even more money that it would cost you to get a proper Tampa health insurance plan.

The major problem is that today, many people shop for health coverage based solely on price. This is a major mistake, as more often than not, what you get is not what you thought you were getting, and you will not be covered for your expenses. In fact, you will be paying for your care with a medical discount plan – all of your care. Try figuring the expenses out for that over the period of a year and you’ll quickly find out you’d be paying more than you would pay for proper health insurance – the kind that pays your medical claims for you.

Which makes more sense economically? The answer is health insurance that actually pays out money on your behalf for your medical expenses. Joining a medical discount plan only gets you discounts on medical services and supplies. It does not pay out any money to you for a claim.

Think twice before you buy health insurance that is so cheap you are thrilled. It may end up that it isn’t health insurance and the costs are higher than what Tampa health insurance would be. In addition, you may also wind up with limited benefits; something that might backfire on you should you need coverage at some point in your life. Always be aware of what you are buying, your very health could depend on it.

Be aware that medical discount plans are not health insurance. They do not do the same thing as Jacksonville health insurance either.

You’ve likely seen the ads on TV or even in print, touting the cost cutting convenience of medical discount plans. Please note before you read further, medical discount plans ARE NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. Furthermore, most hospitals and doctors do not have to honor medical discount plans and in many cases, they won’t.

The claims sure sound good by teasing people with one liners like: discounts of up to 60 percent, no deductible or co-pays and pre-existing conditions are no problem. Who wouldn’t want to save money on their health care costs these days? Look before you leap and find out exactly what it is you are buying before you buy it. If you don’t take that extra precautionary step, you might get an unexpected surprise later.

Medical discount programs come in many forms, ranging from a medical discount plan to a discount program or even a card. Financially, they’re attractive, there’s no getting around that. And, yes, medical discount plans may be of use to some consumers, but – and this is a huge but – they are not the same thing as health insurance. They do not pay any of your health care costs. Instead, you pay a fee for a list of health care service providers, etc. who are willing to give you a discount because you’re in a plan. In other words, you have no health care coverage – period.

Also, be very aware that some of the medical discount plans boast they provide huge discounts from hundreds of providers offering a wide variety of services. Quite often, there is no substance to these claims and you are paying a lot for virtually nothing. This isn’t to say that if you want other health care options that you shouldn’t check out medical discount plans. They may be what you want; but be cautious.

If you aren’t sure about the plans, call the state insurance commissioner and find out if they’re registered to sell health insurance in your state. If they aren’t, find someone else that sells Jacksonville health insurance and not a medical discount plan. In other words, if you want the insurance company to pay your medical bills (or portions thereof), you want a health insurance plan and NOT a discount plan.

If you don’t know which is which and can’t tell the difference between health insurance and a medical discount plan, call a licensed local Jacksonville health insurance agent/broker. They have all the information you need and can explain the differences. Their advice is free and it’s often advice that will save you money and get you a good deal on health insurance, NOT a medical discount plan.

There are so many options to choose from these days for Tampa health insurance, it often gets confusing.

“There’s really no need to be confused when it comes to deciding what type of Tampa health insurance would work for you or your family. I’m a phone call away and know the market intimately. All we need to do is talk about your life situation and what you need to be covered. I take it from there and find what works for you and for your budget,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

If people initiate their own search for health insurance, one of the first things they need to do is try and figure out what they absolutely need, and then factor in things that would be nice to have if their budget can handle it. The search starts from this point. While there are a great number of options on the market, with time and patience, anyone can find what they need. Mostly.

“I say mostly because many of the subtler things that people need to know about a health insurance policy are not always online. There just isn’t the room to do that. So typically, the preferred rates are up online, because they’re lower. If Joe American wants that rate, then they need to be in tip top shape. Generally speaking, most people have a pre-existing condition and that will change their quote. This is why you need to call an agent and ask questions,” Tunis said.

Asking questions is the right way to get to the bottom of all the different policies to choose from for Miami health insurance. For example, if a person is taking medication for acid reflux or to keep the blood from coagulating too quickly, some insurance companies may decline to insure him or her, and others may issue a rider. Knowing what medications a person is taking is part of the whole decision making process when it comes to finding a suitable health insurance policy.

“If you’re stuck and don’t know for sure what would work for you, then call me. I am available to answer your questions and can definitely help you when you’re looking for a Tampa health insurance policy,” Tunis said.

If you don’t have Miami health insurance, you’re going to need it. Health care reform means everyone must have it eventually.

While paying for health insurance can be somewhat expensive, it’s something that you’ll need to cover those medical moments when life takes a slight turn for the worse. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you needed medical care and didn’t have insurance, you know firsthand what it’s like trying to pay the bill later. It’s sad, but true, that some people just shrug off their medical debts and let others pay for their care. Most people don’t want to be in that position.

One of the smartest things to do about health insurance is to start looking now and not wait until the last minute to get a Miami health insurance policy. Finding something now that suits your budget and needs is far better than trying to find something when everyone else is also looking at the same time. If you’re still of the mindset that you will wait to see what happens, that’s your choice. Just keep in mind that not having health insurance can be a real disadvantage if you get sick or into an accident.

When in doubt about where to find decent health insurance coverage that doesn’t cost you your firstborn, go online. There is a lot of valuable information out there these days, and it only takes a few minutes to find. Take your time. No one says you have to be in a hurry to choose a policy. Find out what is out there and then give some thought to what your situation is and what coverage you may need. This is where making lists comes in handy. When you’re done with surfing and making your list, compare some of the better policies you found.

Remember that you need to be comparing the same or similar policies for each quote you get. If you don’t do that, you’re likely get confused, because nothing will make sense. This is one of the major reasons why it’s a wise decision to talk to an insurance agent directly. They can point you in the right direction, help you sort out the different plans, assist you in meeting your budget guidelines and tell you which things you should likely have in your final policy choice.

You will likely want hospital coverage, even if you are fairly healthy. Life can and does turn on a dime and while you may not need hospital coverage today, you may tomorrow if you get into an accident. You can’t predict what will happen in the future medically. It’s like buying fire insurance for your house. You don’t think you’ll have a fire, but you don’t want to take that chance and get wiped out. This is the same thing with Miami health insurance. Get it today for protection for tomorrow and all of your future tomorrows.

Sometimes it’s not all that easy to figure out what you need for individual health insurance. Research helps provide the right information.

Buying Fort Lauderdale health insurance isn’t always easy if you don’t know what you need. You do know for sure that you will need health insurance in the future, so it only makes sense to start looking for it now. One of the best ways to find out what works for you is to do your homework online, find some websites that provide instant quotes, filter the information based on your personal health and then make a call to the agent.

Agents can give you the inside scoop on what would work for you based on your geographic location because they know what hospitals are the best, who pays their claims and who doesn’t and what each doctor offers. It doesn’t matter why you don’t have health insurance right now, what matters is that you find something to cover you for those inevitable illnesses and accidents that happen in everyone’s life. Remember, being uninsured leaves you open to enormous medical bills when you need care, and paying those bills is going to be really difficult, if not impossible, if you don’t have much money.

One of the first things you will want to consider is the amount of the premium for Fort Lauderdale health insurance. While you can definitely find reasonable plans to suit your budget, be aware that if you opt for a very cheap plan, you may not get the coverage you think you’re going to get. Read the fine print so you don’t get surprises later.

X-ray coverage and prescription coverage are two very big things that most people want to have as part of their health insurance coverage. Don’t think you need X-ray coverage? What do you do if you break a wrist? You’d be paying for that out of your pocket if you don’t have coverage. X-rays are something that just about all people will need at some point in their lives. Make sure you have that option covered.

Another virtual inevitable in your life is requiring drugs, whether for a cold, sinus infection, acid reflux, gout, migraines or depression – just about everyone takes pills for something. If you want to be covered for the cost of drugs, then consider adding this to your Fort Lauderdale health insurance plan coverage. There are a variety of other things you may also want to consider, but might not be sure what they are. This is why you will want to spend some time talking to an expert insurance agent who knows what plans may suit you and what other things you will need to consider. It’s time well spent.

It used to be that getting life insurance was a major pain. Things have changed.

“Remember the good old days when you wanted to buy life insurance and you had to take tests, fill out forms, fill out more forms, mail stuff, sign stuff, and in general, spend a whole lot of time fiddling around? Many people do remember that process and as a net result really don’t like applying for life insurance. Good news, times have changed. Life insurance is now easily obtainable online,” outlined Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Imagine not having to run around in tight little circles trying to keep all the documents and various requirements up in the air at the same time. Imagine a process for applying for term life insurance that takes mere minutes, as opposed to weeks. Welcome to the 21st century and the advent of online “everything.”

“The process for applying for term life insurance online is so simple that people are bound to appreciate it right away. I don’t mean that they can ‘just’ fill out an online application, I mean even the signing for term life insurance may be done online. Technology is great when it saves you time, means you won’t miss signing on the right dotted lines, don’t have to mail in the application form, and can do this all in the convenience of your home,” suggested Tunis.

Applying for term life insurance online just got a whole lot simpler because the industry chose to listen to their customers who were telling them their lives were too hectic to drop everything and come on in to do the deed in person. “Why,” they asked, “can’t we apply for life insurance online and just get things done quickly and easily through a licensed broker?”

“There is still the option for an individual to call and ask questions; in fact, that’s almost to be expected, as most people don’t tend to buy life insurance without having a lot of questions to ask. That’s what I’m here for and I welcome any calls to help people through the online application process,” offered Tunis.

No matter how healthy you are now, there will be a point when you need to use a hospital. Having health insurance is a smart move.

There are a good number of people in the US who think that they don’t need health insurance, that it’s a waste of time and money and they have better things to do. You may indeed have better things to do, but trying to do them with that broken leg or arm that happened unexpectedly in a car crash is going to be difficult.

How will you pay your medical bill – the enormous medical bill – that arrives for the hospital services? No one has that kind of money in the bank and wiping out your savings isn’t a good idea either. And so you may be left with declaring medical bankruptcy; all because you did not have some form of individual Florida health insurance. Sure, people think health insurance is expensive, but it’s “more” expensive if you “don’t” have it.

The only thing you need to remember is that even though you may be on a budget and need specific things, there is always a policy that exists out there that will suit you. All you have to do is ask your local health insurance broker for help. After all, they know their product and can find something to suit precisely what you need. Notice I didn’t say “want.” That is because you “need” specific types of coverage to be protected versus the fact that you may “want” a Cadillac plan for a low cost. Cadillac health insurance plan and low cost payments are words that rarely happen in the same sentence.

Basically, you need to do some homework, surf the Internet, ask friends what they have and talk to an expert Florida health insurance agent. Having some insurance rather than none may save you from bankruptcy court at some point. If you think that’s a little off the wall, consider the price to fix a broken leg: $30,000. Do you have $30,000? Chances are the answer to that is “No,” and neither do a lot of other people. Don’t take risks with your health when, for a small monthly premium, you could have health insurance coverage.

Let’s take a look at some things you can do to get what you need in an individual health insurance policy; the right one for you. Take a close look at the various health insurance policies and their varying monthly payments. This isn’t to say you should buy according to price alone, or you may not get what you thought you got. Always talk to a qualified health insurance agent. Their advice is free, they’re not trying to sell you a bum deal and they can help you save money. Really, what other services these days helps you save money?

When you’re looking at various policies, keep in mind you need to check the co-insurance, meaning the percentage of the bill “you” have to fork out cash for versus what the insurance company will pay. In most cases, the insurance company pays the bigger portion of the bill, which may seem great, but it usually means higher premiums. So if you up your payments, the premiums will come down.

If you have questions, then don’t hesitate to contact an experienced Florida health insurance agent who only has your best interests in mind.

People tend to avoid HSAs because they aren’t familiar with how they work. They’re well worth considering because they save money.

Health savings accounts, otherwise referred to as HSAs, are very well advertised, but for some reason people tend to avoid them. There isn’t a really clear reason for that because on closer examination HSAs have the distinct advantage of saving you money, and who doesn’t want to do that these days?

The one thing you need to remember is that the HSA may only be used in combination with a high deductible health plan (HDHP). The two health care companions function as a tag team, to distribute health insurance and operate as a payment plan. When used together, you get some nice price breaks and the actual benefits extend beyond what your typical Florida health insurance plan may offer.

Setting up an HSA is actually really easy. All you have to do is go to the bank or another financial institution. Remember, you also need to get signed up for an HSA qualified HDHP that will have a minimum deductible of anywhere from $1,200 to $2,400, depending on whether it’s individual insurance or a family plan. So, along those same lines, if the plan is just for you, you may put in the maximum of $3,050 or $6,150 for a family. For those over the age of 55, they may toss in an extra $1,000 every year as a catch-up contribution.

You know what the best thing is about an HSA? You’ll love this if you happen to be younger and in fairly good health, or, older and in good health. If you have a good year and don’t have that many medical expenses, you get to keep what’s in the account for future use. Not a bad deal hey? In fact, you can keep adding money every year, so long as you don’t go over the contribution limit. Note: the yearly contributions have a set limit, but the total savings in the account can be as much as you let it grow. That’s pretty appealing; along with the fact you get to control how you spend the money.

Did you know that HSA money is tax deductible? And, not only that, but it grows “tax free” for as long as you use it to pay for “medical expenses.” That brings up a question I hear quite a lot and that involves what people can use their HSA account money for in the first place. The answer to that is you may use it for alternative treatments (acupuncture), some over the counter medicines and even most dental procedures. Hint: not all insurance companies count these payments as part of your deductible, so you might want to check that out first.

The good news is that the list of HSA qualified expenses is nice and long, which is a great benefit to you, because it means you don’t need to separate coverage for things like prescription drugs, dental or vision care. This saves you money as well. The bottom line is an HSA is worth trying.

In some instances a consumer can take a free look at a Florida health insurance policy of their choice. Certain restrictions may apply.

“Picking out the right health insurance policy can certainly test one’s patience, but honestly, there are so many ways to make that process easier, that the more you know, the less you have to do to find what you need. Sure, it’s one of the biggest decisions you will make during your life and of course, it will directly affect your life too by the quality of the health care options you have,” remarked Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Many people tend to look at getting Florida health insurance as being something they really don’t need because they don’t see the doctor that often. “While that may be true generally speaking, what happens when a major life event unfolds – a broken leg, head injuries, broken ribs or heart problems? Medical bills for those events could put someone into medical bankruptcy. Get covered and put those worries on the shelf knowing if something does happen, your policy ‘does’ have your back,” added Tunis.

Finding and buying the right individual health insurance plans remains among the most important decisions you should make in your life. The policies are investments you should be taking by now before any health problem comes in. Here are several ways on how you could successfully whittle down your choices and maintain costs for co-payments, premiums, and prescriptions.

“Start looking for a policy that suits you in your immediate location; oftentimes they are much better prices than if you go nationally. Not to mention the fact that you will get personal service locally from an expert health insurance broker. Check around for pricing and make sure to ask lots of questions. After all, it’s ‘your’ health and you need to know what you are covered for and what you are not covered for. Who needs nasty surprises later?” Tunis pointed out.

“Before looking for Florida health insurance, make a list of all the things that are important to you; things you absolutely need to have and make sure you mention these to the health insurance broker. If you’ve taken the time to do that – identify your personal preferences – finding what you want is easier. For instance, let’s say you want lower premiums, a good choice of doctors and excellent customer service,” Tunis remarked. If the insurance agent knows these things, it helps them look for a policy to fit their customer’s needs.

While many people these days try to find their own health insurance, it’s really a good idea to use the services of a broker or agent. Why? “Because they know their industry inside out, where the deals are, what would work for you, and what would not. They also know just about every available option in which you may be interested. It saves you the time and hassle hunting online when you aren’t quite sure what you are looking at,” said Tunis.

“One final thing you should know about, and many people don’t know this, is that you can actually try out the health care option that you want; kick the tires for free so to speak. You need to ask your agent about that, as a free trial would give you a refund if you don’t like the policy you chose, but it would need to be within a certain period of time. There are certain restrictions and various guidelines which you would also have to follow. It might be worth checking into,” suggested Tunis.

There is a myth that says if you don’t have Florida health insurance, you are saving money. That is not accurate.

There are a whole lot of myths floating around out there and online in cyberspace about how cheaply you can live if you aren’t paying for health insurance. Furthermore, people think that if they don’t pay premiums for health insurance that they are saving money. This is not the case. All it takes is one single accident such as breaking your leg, and you are in a world of hurt physically and financially.

Did you know that the price of fixing a broken leg may run to $60,000? Who has that kind of money on hand to pay their medical bills? The answer to that is not many people have that kind of money, and if they did and paid the bill, they would then be broke or bankrupt. Have you taken a close look at how many medical bankruptcies there are these days? Frightening, isn’t it?

Thanks to the recent changes to health care, Florida health insurance is one of the most “in demand” products on the market. And why not; everyone will be mandated to have it in the future, so they may as well start searching for the right health insurance now. It honestly makes more sense to have health insurance that covers you for those medical emergencies in life and other things you need (meds for your kids) rather than take a chance without coverage.

Now is the perfect time to start looking around for the right plan that works for you alone, or for you and your family. You will need to compare quotes from various places, but that doesn’t take too long. Ask questions and then ask more questions, because you can never have too much information when it comes to protecting your health and welfare. If you want to save money, “this” is where you will save it – when looking for deals for Florida health insurance.

Go for the gold when you hunt down health insurance policies and get quotes from about 5 companies. From there, find out what they offer in terms of coverage and what suits your needs. Remember, your “needs” are far more important than your
“wants,” as wants tend to come with a higher price tag premium wise. Chances are the things you “want versus need” are also things you can do without – for now. That doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind and your coverage later.

If others depend on you, it’s likely best that you have life insurance in place. You are never too young to have life insurance.

It doesn’t matter how old or how young you are, if you have people that depend on you, then it’s generally best if you have Florida life insurance in place to care for them if something happens to you. Granted, many young people don’t seem to think death is just around the corner, but the reality of life is that death can and does happen to everyone, and sometimes unexpectedly; e.g., as the result of a car accident.

Some younger people don’t think they need life insurance, and they may be right. It is a personal choice and one that each person needs to make for themselves based on their lifestyle. Ideally, the right time to buy life insurance is when someone else is financially dependent on you – and that may happen at any age these days. So don’t automatically rule out buying life insurance because you think you are “too” young.

One thing to keep in mind is this: you buy Florida life insurance because “you” need it, not because it might seem like the right thing to do at the moment because everyone else is buying it, and you certainly don’t want to be purchasing it just because someone is selling it – whether they’re a relative or not.

Still not sure what life insurance means? The simplest way to explain it is that life insurance is the insurance company betting that you will live a nice long life and you are hedging your bets, just in case. You’re transferring the risk of death (yours) to the insurance company in exchange for paying them your premiums. Is that a good deal? It depends on the circumstances and what type of life insurance you opt to buy. This is something about which you need to talk to a qualified Florida life insurance expert.

One thing to keep in mind is that ideally, you want to consider what stage of your life you’re at before you buy life insurance. For example, if you have no kids and are footloose and fancy free single, you might not need it yet. On the other hand, if you are the sole support for ill parents, you may need to rethink having it early.

The bottom line is this: think about your lifestyle and obligations to others. If you have questions, talk them over with an expert life insurance agent. They have various options and plans that will suit just about any situation.

Everyone in the US today knows that health care costs are going up. There are some ways to cut costs and reduce the family debt.

“For any family that is paying any part of their health insurance cover, they know the cost of everything is going up. Often that can send a family into sheer panic, wondering how they are going to keep on paying for their Florida health insurance,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

For those on a budget, there are some great ways to cut a few corners and save some money. The first tip and the most obvious one, is speak directly to your insurance agent. “Not many people think to do this, which is a shame, as these people have ideas that may save you money just by asking them. For instance, changing plans, switching companies or upping your annual deductible,” Tunis suggested.

Another surefire way to save money is to opt for having limited access to health care providers. While this will mean you won’t have the freedom to see whomever you want, it will save you money. “Of course this is a personal decision and if your family would rather stick with their preferred doctor, then that is likely the right decision for you,” added Tunis.

“Something else that you need to consider is pre-existing conditions. If you or someone else in your family has a pre-existing condition, don’t change plans until you have – in writing – a quote for coverage from the new provider stating it will cover that condition,” Tunis suggested. For those that don’t do that, they might find themselves without coverage for their condition or having to wait for anywhere from six to twelve months for coverage to kick in.

If a Florida health insurance quote comes in with a really, really low rate, best read the fine print, because it’s likely not a good deal. Put another way, if it doesn’t have the coverage needed, the policyholder ends up shelling out money. It’s a good idea to actually pay a bit more a month and know without a doubt that coverage is in place.
In order to be a bit creative in saving money on buying Florida health insurance, make sure you talk to the local insurance broker. They know ways to save money on buying health insurance and that will be a direct benefit to the budget.

When it comes to Florida health insurance, you need a policy that suits your needs. It doesn’t matter what the neighbor happens to have.

If you don’t qualify to get group insurance through your employer, you might want to consider checking into getting Florida health insurance specifically for yourself (and/or family if you have one). While it might seem like it’s an uphill battle trying to find something that covers you adequately for a reasonable price; it can be done. In fact, it’s done just about every day by people looking for health insurance because they know that some day they will need to see a doctor.

Keep in mind that you would be the “administrator” of your own policy and be responsible for paying the premiums, updating it when needed and making sure it covers what you need. Notice we didn’t say covers what you want. There is a difference between buying a Florida health insurance policy you want (because it’s cheaper) and buying one you actually need (because it’s more expensive).

Here’s what the problem is if you choose to buy what you want for less money. Yes, you will be paying out less in premiums – but – and this is a “big” but, if that policy does not cover what you need to see a doctor for, then just how much money have you saved? The answer is not much, because if the policy doesn’t cover you, you’re paying out-of-pocket for medical care.

So, taking a look at that situation, if you have to pay out more because you went with a cheap policy that doesn’t cover you, you would have actually been better off to pay more and have the coverage in place when you needed it. There is nothing more irritating than going to a doctor or hospital and then discovering that the insurance policy you bought won’t pay for your expenses.

This is not a fun situation to be in. This is also one of the main reasons why when you are searching for reasonable Florida health insurance that you speak to an experienced insurance agent. They will know right away what would work for you and guess what? If you shop around, you will find good rates – and that’s a fact.

If you want a good health insurance policy, one that “will” cover you when you need coverage, then take the time to talk to your local insurance broker. That’s what he’s there for – to help you find what you need.

When it comes to Florida health insurance, you need a policy that suits your needs. It doesn’t matter what the neighbor happens to have.

While we may all know that life insurance is important, we often don’t really know what we need.
Life insurance to some is daunting, confusing, complex and expensive. Many wonder if it’s really even necessary. Well yes, it is necessary if you want to protect your family if you pass on suddenly. And yes, it can be confusing and complex, but it doesn’t need to be, not if you talk to an experienced and licensed insurance broker who knows their products and can provide you with Florida life insurance quotes.

If you even have a general knowledge of what you would like to accomplish by buying life insurance, this is a good place to start. No one is suggesting that you need to know “everything” there is to know about life insurance. It took an experienced agent many years to become familiar with their products and the benefits for their clients. They certainly don’t expect you to become instantly familiar with all the choices you have at your fingertips. That’s their job, and it’s best to leave it to them.

This isn’t to say that you can’t work together in a sort of partnership, because that is often the best method to choose the kind of life insurance that will achieve your goals. Sit down with a skilled agent and outline what you have in mind. Discuss the various options. Ask questions and then ask even more questions. Life insurance is an important decision and you want to know you’ve made the best choice for your lifestyle and family. Often knowing what you want will come after you get Florida life insurance quotes from your insurance agent.

Don’t know who to choose as a beneficiary? Don’t know much about benefit levels? You’re not alone; this is a common problem, and one that can be discussed with your agent. You may choose from a wide range of products, each with that little something extra that might be just what you were looking for in a life insurance policy.

Some tips that might come in handy for you are things like buying your life insurance when you think you need it. The younger you are, the cheaper the premiums. But, don’t let that stop you from buying insurance if you are older. There is something out there for everyone. Yes, the premiums may be a bit higher, but you will still be able to get the kind of coverage that will suit you.

When you do decide what you want to buy, make sure you get enough coverage. In other words, you want a policy that will take care of any and “all” expenses your family may have. That would include things like debt payments, mortgages, etc. While you may not be able to get what you “need” right away due to budget constraints, then buy what you can afford and upgrade later. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. This is where shopping around for Florida life insurance quotes comes in handy.

The new Health Care Reform Act mandates people buy insurance or be fined. That isn’t slated to happen until 2014.

“Just because the Health Care Reform Act was signed into law and part of it mandates everyone

must have health insurance or face serious fines, you don’t have to rush right out and get health insurance. The mandated insurance doesn’t kick in until 2014, that is ‘if’ the Act is still in force and if the government is the same as it is now. There are no guarantees here, which means things could very well change,” indicated Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

While it is a wise move to check out what is available in terms of health insurance, there is no particularly pressing need to buy it this very instant. “Even though there are a lot of people who are making it a point to scare you into getting health insurance “right away,” you would be better off taking the time to make any decisions relating to health insurance before being stampeded into something you may not need and may not suit you,” said Tunis.

There are those that also say the price of insurance will go up. It may and it may not. In some instances, if a risk pool of individuals is keeping their old insurance plans, their prices may go up because the pool would shrink over time. In other instances, the prices should come down because of the increased number of people on the market searching for reasonable health insurance and the insurance exchanges – also tentatively coming into play in 2014.

Take the time now to read what the Health Care Reform Act really contains and how it is intended to introduce changes over time. Just because this was signed into law does not mean everything in the Act is applicable “right now.”

As for finding reasonable health insurance, that can be done quite easily with the assistance of an expert health insurance broker who knows what’s coming in the future. They are well versed of the changes on the horizon that will reform health care as we know it today.

“Knowing what you need to know now will stand you in good stead for later down the road. While it’s a good idea to check into the pricing of health insurance now, you may find that within a year or two, the prices will be even better. There is no rush to get it and anyone that tells you there is needs to read the Act again and stop scaring people,” indicated Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Opting out of family health insurance may be risky. It may also cost a family their life savings.

While it’s pretty much a given that family health insurance is necessary, many families find themselves between a rock and a hard place when it comes to paying the bills and keeping their insurance premiums current. Many choose to drop their family health insurance.

“This is a risky thing to do, because if a member of the family is involved in an accident or contracts a serious illness, your savings could vanish just about overnight while trying to keep up with the bills,” states Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

At one time, families could afford to pay a hospital bill when it arrived in the mail. The cost of health care back then is nowhere near what it is now. Given the current state of health care in the US, even relatively minor ailments may run several thousands of dollars. “If you have children, the costs may be even higher, as they get a lot of colds, the flu, ear infections, strep throat, broken limbs, and other illnesses that need medical attention. These are major reasons why families need to have current Florida health insurance,” added Tunis.

“I’ve heard many families comment that they can’t find reasonable health insurance. As a health insurance broker, I know for a fact that there are reasonable policies out there. Furthermore, with the new changes coming in June 2010 and the signing of the Health Care Reform Act into law, the health insurance industry will become extremely competitive. Timing is everything,” Tunis commented.

To get a good understanding of what options are available for family health insurance, check online. “Ask for custom quotes, multiple quotes, and different providers and services – it doesn’t matter what you ask for, you should be able to get virtually instant answers online. Keep in mind that these are quotes based only on information you provide. If that information is inaccurate, it will make a difference in the quotes, so make sure you use the same information for every quote you request,” Tunis explained.

Some people shop first and tailor their budget later. “I find that it’s better to have a budget in mind first and then see what fits that budget. It takes the stress factor out of online shopping, or buying Florida family health insurance in person. It also helps the insurance broker to know what range you are able to buy in rather than hand you options that won’t fit the family finances,” indicated Tunis.

Finding cheap health insurance is a must these days. While many don’t think that’s possible, it is.

Sure, people want and need to save money wherever they can during these tough economic times. If they choose to “not” buy Florida health insurance because they can’t afford it, while that is their choice, it’s not a wise financial choice. The reason for that is because everyone needs a doctor at some time in their life and if the person without health insurance needs medical care, it will cost them more “then” than it would have cost them to pay monthly low health insurance premiums.

Think about that for a minute. A broken leg can run up to $60,000 or higher. If you went to the hospital without health insurance and were billed for that, how would you pay it? If you had Florida health insurance, while you might still find it hard to pay the bill, you would not be paying the full amount of the bill. Doesn’t it make sense to have health insurance for a low monthly premium to avoid being in that situation?

Not having health insurance and needing medical care could also potentially wipe out all your savings. Is that something you really want to happen? Most people would say no and those who don’t have much in savings understandably want to horde what they have. If a medical crisis ruins their plans, they have nothing left. This is, in fact, one of the reasons for so many medical bankruptcies in the US today.

There are so many different health care plans on the market today, that there is one for every person and family, even if they aren’t earning a lot of money. All you need to do is ask a skilled health insurance agent what plans would suit your circumstances and then work as a team to find the right coverage for you and your family. While you’re at it, also ask exactly what is covered and what is not.

You need to ask what is covered and what isn’t because if later on you need to use your health insurance, you don’t want to find out when you are about to pay the bill that “none” of it is covered by insurance. This has happened, so take the time to get to know what is in your particular policy. If you just want the basics, discuss that with the insurance agent. If you want a few bells and whistles, then ask about that as well.

Shopping for health insurance these days is a bit like ordering off an a la carte menu; you can have just about anything you want that suits your fancy – and in the case of health insurance – suits your budget. Get more than one quote, talk to more than one insurance agent, and ask your friends what they have or don’t have. This is all valuable information to get before you decide what may work for your needs.

When it comes to life insurance, being under-insured or over-insured isn’t a smart plan. Ask a skilled broker to help you choose wisely.

When about to choose life insurance, most people get stuck when it comes to how much coverage they need versus what they want. Those two things may be entirely different. This is one of the reasons you’d want to talk to an expert life insurance agent who could tell you what you needed to know by discussing your goals and lifestyle with you.

Being under-insured isn’t a wise idea and being over-insured won’t do you any good either. The whole key to a perfect balance in buying life insurance is having “enough” coverage to save you money in the end. Of course the question is then, “How much is enough?” When figuring that out, use a balanced blend of coverage and premium factors that both carry equivalent weight.

Granted there are usually some assertions that insurance agents will give you, like the suggestion that you consider buying ten times your annual salary. It’s not a bad idea, but it really doesn’t get you out of buying life insurance at regular intervals, nor does it prevent over or under insuring yourself. What would save you money in the short term would be to only buy what you need at any given time. That however has the effect of raising your aggregate premiums and lowering your returns. This is particular true if you are looking at cash value plans.

Here is a good tip when you assess your insurance needs: use your living expenses and not your income. That will be what your beneficiaries will need to live on. Your family may not need 100% of the household income to get on with their lives. So when you do an income calculation, use a percentage of your income to get a reasonable coverage figure.

And what do you buy then? Despite your calculations or wishes, you may find yourself buying insurance you can afford, which isn’t the same thing as what you may need. This is something you need to discuss with your life insurance agent, who has access to a wide variety of life insurance products that may just suit your requirements perfectly. You don’t want to compromise your overall financial plan by buying too much when you can least afford it.

Keep in mind that the amount of coverage you need will likely change over time and the “right” amount of coverage is what is right for “you” when you need it. The general rule of thumb is that you should anticipate, as best you can, your future needs (e.g., mortgage, new baby) without overdoing it. When in doubt, consult with a life insurance expert.

Even if the price of health care is higher than it used to be, try not to compromise on health care insurance. There will come a time when it’s needed.

Most people these days are not able to pay much, if anything, for health insurance simply because the cost of everything is going up daily – that includes the price of medications, stays in hospitals and doctors’ services. “The main thrust behind health care these days appears to be profit, not necessarily the welfare of the patient. It’s no small wonder many individuals try to get by without health insurance at all. Risky move that one,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Not having health insurance may save money initially, until the sudden and unexpected happens (a broken leg, heart attack, or other major disaster). Treating the major medical disaster at the time it happens will ultimately wind up costing more than the person would have had to pay if they had health insurance. This one predicament alone is responsible for more medical bankruptcies than one can shake a stick at.

While it may seem like an uphill battle to find reasonable health insurance quotes, it can be done. The competition out there is fierce and with the changes coming to the health care system, it will get even better. That’s good news for consumers who will be able to take advantage of discounts on obtaining health insurance. “Let’s face it, waiting until you have a medical emergency will only mean you go into enormous debt, use your credit cards (with outrageous rates of interest) or wipe out what savings you may have.Finding affordable health insurance is a much smarter alternative to financial disaster,” outlined Tunis.

“If you don’t think it’s really possible to find reasonable health insurance, just go online and take a look at the literally thousands of online insurance companies. There is a deal out there with your name on it; you just have to find it,” Tunis commented. “While hunting for reasonable health insurance quotes may not be all that exciting, it will be beneficial for you if you find yourself needing that insurance,” he added.

Remember that cheap insurance doesn’t always equate to good coverage. So spend the time reading the policy offerings returned on a search. It’s a slam dunk that there ‘will’ be a policy at the right price with the right benefits for you. You just need to look for it,” encouraged Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Health care costs are an arm and a leg for a good reason. This is because the health care system is badly overused for the wrong reasons.

Medical procedures are certainly expensive but then, they should be. There are skilled and exacting procedures for people who really need them to make a difference in their life or to save their life. And therein lies a billion dollar problem. Americans overuse the health care system and have no one else but themselves to thank when the costs keep going up to keep pace with the system demand.

“Come to think of it, how many people do you know who run to the doctor when they have a minor infection or just want to try out a new drug they heard about on television? Chances are, if you think about that for a minute, you could think of a lot of people, likely including yourself, who have gone to the doctor for a minor cough, a mild flu or maybe even a funny rash. These visits cost us big bucks, and it’s just that simple,” explained Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Small medical complaints aside, the vast majority of Americans today sit and get fatter because they do not get up off the couch and get physical. Being overweight causes all kinds of deadly health problems ranging from diabetes to heart disease. Odd that so many people would choose potato chips over good health when those chips may ultimately give them a heart attack. “Bluntly put, as a nation we use much more health care services than we really should,” added Tunis.

If we were able to cut back on the number of heart bypass surgeries we do every year, health insurance costs would go down. If we cut back on the number of other major surgeries performed, health insurance premiums would also go down. “Way back when health insurance wasn’t too expensive, there were nowhere near the numbers of operations performed now. Bottom line is that our fitness and health are becoming dead last in the race,” indicated Tunis. We now have a nation of a great many moribund people who feel taking care of themselves is up to somebody else.

Health care and wellness education is one place to start turning this tide of expenses around. Although having said that, one can’t force people to cooperate and choose a healthy lifestyle. “Eventually, usually when it’s too late, those who have been overusing the health care system ‘get it.’ If we take control of ourselves and manage our own health care to the best of our ability, eventually this will make a difference,” commented Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Like it or lump it, medical bills are going up and there’s not a lot you can do about it. It’s the 21st century reality.

Even going to the doctor to find out if you have a cold or the flu these days is going to cost you big bucks. That’s life in the 21st century. The cost of medical care goes up just about every day and wishing it weren’t that way will get you nowhere. Instead of banging your head against a brick wall and wanting the prices to go down, or the doctor to cut their fees (isn’t going to happen), opt for a flexible health insurance plan that is tailor-made for you. Yes, it can be done.

There is so much information out there on the Internet, in papers, magazines and at the behest of a simple phone call. No matter what method you use to gather your information, you won’t be going without enough knowledge these days. Usually one or two clicks will get you enough information on health insurance plans that you could spends days considering the various alternatives. That’s good news. Choice is always a wonderful thing.

Want to hit just the major online health insurance companies? Go for it. Want to shop local and find a health insurance broker in your neighborhood? That’s possible as well. All things are possible when it comes to finding a variety of reasonable quotes for health insurance that suits you. Start big and read as much as you can and then winnow down the facts to something that looks like it would suit you. That’s the time to reach for the phone and ask some more questions.

What’s really the right thing for you? Health insurance is a very individual thing and what your neighbor may have is not necessarily going to be what you need. Go into buying health insurance by taking your age and health into consideration, as well as your budget. In other words, if you can’t push the budget envelope to get an expensive plan, then don’t do it. The last thing you need is to pay expensive premiums and then lose the policy later if you can’t pay for it. Start small and revisit the budget later.

Talk to your health insurance agent about the quality of the policies on hand as well. This means ask about the benefits that go with the policy that might work for you. Usually most health insurance plans are close in price, but the difference will be in the benefits, co-pays and deductibles. Think smart and you’ll get a good health insurance plan that’s right for you.

Trying to figure out all the details of what you want for life insurance is guaranteed to cause a headache. That’s what an experience broker is for.

The fact is that one of the most often asked questions when it come to buying life insurance is very simply how much would the person really need. There is no right or wrong answer to this because in each person’s case, the answer will vary. It really boils down to what’s best for the person who is asking. This is one of the major reasons for someone contemplating buying life insurance to talk to an expert broker who can fill them in on the details they need to make an informed decision.

Yes, a lot of people figure term insurance is the only way to go. And that may be for a vast majority of people, but it doesn’t mean it is applicable in every case. Whole or universal is a good choice for some individuals but in general, term insurance works best for the greatest number of people.

You have to give this matter “some” thought first. So, start with figuring out what kind of lifestyle do you want your family to have if you die? How hard will it hit your family financially? Will your partner continue working? Do you want your family to stay in the same house? Do they really even need insurance to make it without you? These are questions you should also discuss with a skilled insurance broker who will be able to focus your thoughts by providing you with answers to your questions, as well as other variables for you to consider.

So, typically speaking, most people need or want insurance based on what their current financial situation happens to be. Let’s say for instance the person wants to get insurance to meet just a specific need; say, death expenses and a small bequest to a niece or nephew. Both individuals work and take home a good wage and have no children of their own. This person may just want enough insurance to cover debts because the spouse will likely keep working.

Your insurance agent could calculate this for you. It’s just a matter of figuring out the amount of your debt and any other things you want covered, and that gives you the amount of insurance you’d likely want. Keep in mind, you will owe “less” money over the years. At least that’s the plan. So here is how you could handle that: take out a variety of terms – say $150,000 for ten years and then $150,000 for 20 years. These are just examples of course and you’d want to talk this over with your agent.

Remember, you can cancel life insurance anytime, and if you are out of debt well in advance of your schedule, just drop it. There is really no one hard and fast answer to what a person should do, because everyone has different needs. Basically, it’s a matter of making a choice on an amount and biting the bullet.

There are other scenarios to consider, like making sure your kids have a future income, etc. All these are options about which you can talk to your insurance agent. That’s what they’re they for in the first place. They know their products and can explain things to you in plain English without the jargon.

No matter how many times an insurance broker advises people to read their policies before they buy them, people just don’t do it. This isn’t a good idea.

For those that want the best of the best in terms of health insurance, be prepared to pay top dollar. For some this isn’t a problem, however for the majority of Americans it is a huge obstacle. Most Americans are struggling to just put food on the table these days. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t affordable health insurance plans for those with a lower income, because there are a variety of choices out there,” explained,” Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

With budgets being as tight as they are right now, cost is perhaps the single largest criteria for those looking to buy health insurance. It needs to make sense to them and to also be something they can pay for now and in the future. “More importantly, the

policy also needs to provide adequate coverage for their needs. While this may sound like an impossible combination, it is actually doable. This doesn’t mean that the person doing the shopping around should ignore ‘other’ vital facts besides the cost,” Tunis advised. While cost is a factor, what is in the policy is even more important.

“If people don’t read the policy they want to buy, they will have no idea what they are actually covered for and this can lead to some really ugly moments later when they need health insurance coverage. This is why we always tell people to read the fine print and ask us what the insurance does ‘not’ cover, which is just as important as what it ‘does’ cover,” explained Tunis.

Keep in mind that it’s smart to shop health insurance policies because no matter where you live there is always going to be competition for new customers. Prices may vary based on the cost of living in that state, what type of occupation a person has, how healthy that person is or is not, and their age. Those with high risk jobs that include fireman and police officers will often see higher premiums.

Seniors have a different set of concerns to address and typically health insurance packages tend to have various restrictions and constraints. This is another thing to ask an expert health insurance broker as well, as they are able to offer various alternatives that might even be better. “While it’s smart to be budget conscious, there are times when one’s age may dictate what a person needs to have, not what they want to have, and that’s just a fact of life,” added Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Read the health insurance contract and gain even a passing understanding before signing on the bottom line. It’s vital to know costs, the method of payment, how long the policy is in effect, and the terms and conditions.

It’s a no-brainer that health reform is going to take a lot longer than what the government says. Act now to get your health insurance.

Better to have something than nothing is the old saying of those who realize that indeed, in some instances, having five cents is better than nothing. How does this apply to health reform? Having something in terms of health insurance coverage, even something minimal, is better than having nothing. There is no point in waiting for health care reform to kick in and then be mandated to get a policy you might not want.

“Health reform is honestly all over the map, and every day there is something new about it in the news. It started out as one thing, with one goal, more or less, and then somehow evolved into a document so thick it could be a doorstop. Now, since the State of the Union address, the nation is confused again over whether health care reform is coming or not,” indicated Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

The longer people wait to find out what the reform will actually mean for them, the harder it will be for them to get health insurance that works for them. If health reform is passed into law according to what is in the media, those without health insurance will be forced to get it. Nowhere is there any mention that they will have choices in what they get.

The latest concern arises from the eighteen words, out of thousand in the State of the Union address, the President aimed in the direction of the health reform initiative. “He spoke of health insurance needing reform, so that everyone would have access to the system. Re-read that last sentence, because it says health ‘insurance’ reform. If he honestly means health insurance reform, the big boys aren’t going to be very happy about that,” added Tunis.

Reforming health insurance is one thing; reforming health care itself is another. “Right now no one seems to be clear on who is doing what. Rather than wait until the dust settles and be forced into taking something that might not suit you, wouldn’t you rather take control of your own health insurance choices and know what you are getting?” asked Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Should you go with an HMO or not when you are searching for a health insurance plan? Perhaps managed care will work for you.

For those that don’t know what an HMO is, it stands for health maintenance organization, a type of managed care organization. An HMO sets out guidelines for their affiliated physicians to work with in terms of care to provide and price structures. Is that a good thing for you? In some respects, it may very well be, but it’s a decision you will need to make, based on your personal preferences.

Generally speaking HMOs have lower monthly fees when compared to other alternatives. In addition, the fees are deducted from a paycheck. Keep in mind that this requires a co-pay or the amount paid during a treatment that is deductible from the overall cost of the medical bill. This isn’t to say the rates are the same for every doctor in an HMO, as this is not the case. Each doctor’s office bills out according to their office hourly rate, what tests they may conduct, or treatments they handle for you at the office; e.g., giving needles, taking blood pressure, examining ears, etc.

Here is the most crucial question you will want to ask though and that is how can an HMO offer less expensive health care? The first way this is possible is because they do business on a volume basis, as in they have millions of people as subscribers. They also deal directly with health insurance companies and thus get a better deal, based on volume.

The second reason HMOs are able to offer better rates is because one of their main focuses deals with preventive health care and to that end they work to inform their clients of ways to better enhance their health. This tends to involve, among other things, proactive communication with patients by using handbooks and health guides.

There are some other points you will need to know about HMOs prior to deciding if they are for you. For instance, you will need to pick a primary care physician because that is compulsory if you opt to be in an HMO. Primary care doctors may be GPs, pediatricians, internists or family doctors, and they are more or less the first person you seek medical care from; call them the gatekeeper of medical services or the first port of call.

The idea here is that this doctor figures out what treatment the patient needs or doesn’t need, and will step up to bat to handle all other health care issues, unless there is a need to send the patient to a specialist. You can’t go directly to a specialist without a referral from your primary care doctor. If you opt to choose something called an open access HMO, then you would be able to go to whomever you choose for doctoring. The costs of an open access HMO is higher when it comes to expenses such as co-payments and co-insurance.

Some cons of choosing an HMO involve the quality of the service provided; the lack of tests offered even though they are called for by the doctor; HMOs that refuse to pay for treatments even if the doctor does recommend them; and how little time the doctor has to spend with patients when they go for an appointment.

What you choose will be what you think works for you. Check out both sides of the debate when it comes to choosing an HMO or not. An informed decision is better than one made without any information.

Surfing the Net and find a great site with good information? Then call the broker who owns the site for more information.

I don’t know how many times I have heard this refrain from people trying to buy insurance online: “I hate talking to insurance agents on the phone.” While that might be the case, if you get a quote from an online insurance company, it only makes sense to pick up the phone and call them. Who better is there to answer your questions?

Sure it’s sometimes difficult to just talk to a stranger about your personal health conditions, but if you need insurance, this is what you have to do to get what you want. If you want a health insurance package that makes sense for you, or for you and your family, calling the broker to get more in-depth information is a smart move.

You want to get a quote from a professional looking website; one that is clean and easy to navigate and has lots of interesting information on it. But more that than, you want to get an instance quote; a quote that is relevant to the area in which you live. Why focus on the area where you live? Quotes from health insurance brokers/agents where you live are much more relevant in terms of being tailor-made to your needs.

Big box insurance companies online can still sell you policies, but they have no clue, and could care less, about what hospitals in your area are the best, which doctors provide various services in demand and which don’t; and more importantly, who pays their claims on time and who does not. This is insider information that a local agent would have.

The local agent knows their area inside out, and once they know what you are looking for in terms of a reasonable health insurance package and they know your medical concerns, they can find you the best deal locally. It’s very smart to do a deal for health insurance locally, and then be able to get personal service later. Those are the two things for which people surfing the Net for insurance want to find: a good package for a reasonable price and personal service.

So the next time you happen to be surfing online for a health insurance broker, choose a site that really has a professional presence, has good information that you can use right away (even if you don’t buy insurance yet), offers you good service and is local. Calling that local broker will be the best financial decision you ever made.

The post Health Savings Accounts Not for Everyone first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are great for some people, but not others. The major issue seems to be whether contributions would even be made.

It was 2003 and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) hit the health insurance industry with a big fanfare. “Right away some thought they were wonderful and others thought that while they looked good on the surface, they just would not work well for everyone. They were touted as the best thing since sliced bread as far as helping people save for tax-free qualified medical and retiree health expenses,” Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida, pointed out.

Having a tax-free advantage is a good thing in this day and age, but what other information do people really need to know about HSAs? Much of the basic information people wanted to know about this alternative way to save money for Florida health care expenses got lost in favor of other points. “People didn’t feel they had enough information about HSAs to make informed decisions. The truth of the matter is even though HSAs have been around since 2003, there aren’t a lot of people who get how they work, which is a drawback if they want to find a way to save money for medical expenses,” added Tunis.

Interestingly enough, the most crucial question Americans wanted answered was if they ought to be opening an account in the first place. Statistically speaking, some individuals are just born savers, others are born spenders, and still others couldn’t manage money if their lives depended on it. “Opening a savings account wouldn’t make sense for people who don’t understand how to manage money or who spend it before they get it. It wasn’t much of a surprise that the merits of HSAs just fell on deaf ears for the unconvinced stragglers in the crowd,” Tunis said.

Basically, having a Health Savings Account is all about the smart financial move of saving money for the future to pay for medical expenses. Everyone will have medical expenses at some point in their lives, and rather than get caught having to pay out-of-pocket, if they have something saved aside, they’re taken care of by using their HSAs.

“If people have trouble saving money for the future, particularly for a health savings account, this could mean they become another statistic among the numbers of uninsured Americans. If they opt to pay monthly premiums, that would be a different story. However, that is the thing about HSAs; if they are not something a person would choose freely because it works for them, they do have other options which can be outlined by a qualified insurance agent,” Tunis commented.

For instance, some other options may be more preferable for people who don’t or can’t save – such as a Co-Pay Plan, or even Small Group Medical. Talk to a local Florida health insurance agent to find a plan that works with any budget, as not having health insurance is a risky option.

The US health care system is so confounded confusing largely because it is managed by a variety of legal entities. Where there is confusion, there are wasted tax dollars and increases in health care expenses.

This won’t come as much of a surprise to a whole lot of people, but the US health care system – despite its possible revamp – is in such a mess it’s not easy to understand what is going on. While most people “get” that their medical care is going up and up, they don’t get “why” it’s so high. The actual problem happens to be that there are way too many people and entities trying to run the system and the upshot is no one is doing a good job.

“US health insurance is privately run, privately priced, and a private business. Most large insurance companies therefore have a bottom line to deal with, and that means watching their finances. Smaller insurance companies have more room to be human, treat customers with respect and dignity, and offer people reasonable prices,” commented Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Of interest is the statistic that the US spends more health dollars than “any” other nation in the world. This could be viewed two ways: good because the system is top-notch and bad because it’s way too expensive. The actual amount usually tossed around in the papers is based on the dollar outlay as being part and parcel of the GDP and on a per person/per capita basis. Since our health care costs are so high, that should immediately let people know there is trouble on the horizon. If health care is this expensive now, what will it be in few years from now, reform or not?

These health care statistics are not just numbers picked out of the air and run up the flagpole to see if someone will salute. They are actually based on the overall good (or bad) health of the general population. Check out the most recent stats for health care spending in 2007 ($2.26 trillion or $7,439 per person). That means health care spending was about 16% of the GDP. Americans are obese and by 2017 health care gurus predict health care spending may be close to 20%.

These figures are not exactly encouraging and in fact are downright depressing. The health system is overwhelmed now. In 2017, with the extra burdens of the baby boomers coming of age and obese and addicted Americans beginning to have serious health problems, a system under strain is a system that gives out when it’s needed the most.

Americans ultimately are responsible for their own health; the system is not. Until many people realize that their personal choices dictate their medical conditions, the health care system and trying to get reasonable health insurance is going to continue to be difficult.

Being fit will affect a health insurance quote positively. It’s up to everyone to make a difference in their life for their own health.

Health care discussions abound these days and people want to know what the best choice is for health care. This is a tough question, but research will generally provide the answers.

While budget may be a four letter word in your house these days, it is still a daily reality in the 21st century. We’re facing tough economic times and all around us things are getting more and more expensive, like health care. This of course makes it difficult to find the right health insurance plan that will fit your personal budget. If you’re faced with trying to make ends meet and needing to get health insurance, start by first figuring out precisely what you need. Don’t guess, or you might wind up with something you don’t need.

Start first with the assumption that you are just getting health insurance for you. If you need family coverage, then make adjustments based on what you do for a single health insurance plan. So the first thing you would likely do is go for what works for you. Keep in mind, that depending on what you choose, there may be a wide range of prices. This will depend on a number of things ranging from the type and level of coverage you want and what the particular insurance company is charging. This is one main reason to comparison shop – the price.

Let’s say you wanted a plan where you could pick your doctor and get whatever medical procedures you needed done. Starting with that as an assumption, you would then have a variety of different levels of deductibles and out-of-pocket limits. Here is where the rubber meets the road. Either you pick what you can afford or try to afford what you pick. That’s a personal decision. If you value the freedom of choice, the more expensive option might be the one you want.

There are also managed plans you may consider –something similar to an HMO. Yes, these are less costly; however, you also give up having choices, meaning you have to choose your doctor from an approved list and you may only see a specialist on referral. This might be just the plan for you if you are in good health and only see the doctor about once a year for a check-up or the flu. You would still be covered for health emergencies, but things are a little more complex. For this reason, and for the sake of knowing precisely what the various plans offer, speak to an expert insurance agent.

Knowing what you have, what you actually get, what you pay, and why you pay that amount are things you need to know for later – when you need your insurance. If you don’t know right up front what is included in your health insurance plans, you may be in for a nasty surprise later. Talk to an insurance agent about what your choice of plan offers and about what it does “not” offer. Knowledge is power.

Searching for life insurance can be a major pain. You can lessen the anxiety by getting multiple quotes for various coverage options.

Let’s say you want to buy whole life insurance. That’s a good decision by the way, and what you need to do next is to get multiple quotes from various insurance companies. This will give you the kind of information you need to know right away. Making decisions has never been easier.

Ideally you will be looking to compare what kind of coverage you get and what the price is for it.Comparing prices online is a simple and easy way to get the information you need to get started. You can always follow up by making phone calls to the insurance agents when you have a list of questions you want answered.

Once you have the quotes on whole life and term life, the next thing you’ll need to decide is the best option for you. There’s a lively debate about this in the industry and it helps to get a good idea of what both sides of that debate are saying. For instance, many insurance experts say term policies are best because they are less expensive. That way, the money you save, you could spend on yourself.

While this may be an option, it isn’t necessarily the right one for everybody. That’s why choosing life insurance is such a highly personal thing, with various factors in each person’s life making up the final decision. The fact is that every insurance policy has its pros and cons and this is why you want to consider all the benefits of each of them before you buy anything.

If you’re considering a whole life policy, there are some points that make it just perfect for some individuals. For example, the coverage never ceases so long as you keep paying the premiums; and you are covered for life. These types of policies generally also accumulate a cash value over time that is tax deferred. That’s a nice bonus. This particular option is usually a good one for people interested in estate planning and who want to leave money behind for heirs and beneficiaries, plus have the expenses of a funeral and taxes covered, etc.

If you’re not that certain what would really work for you, ask a financial planner or a highly skilled insurance agent. Discuss what you think would work, and work together to choose something tailored to your personal needs. Once you know what you want it’s a whole lot easier to start comparison shopping.

Honestly, the main thing to remember is that no one is trying to force you to buy life insurance. If they do try that, then it’s definitely not the place to buy anything, and keep on looking. Insurance agents are there to assist you make the right choices that fit “your” life, wants and needs. There is no need to be in a hurry to buy anything. Take your time, ask questions, consult with the agent, look around, and then decide. This will mean you get a product that is far better suited to what you want.

It’s fairly easy to get Florida small business health insurance. In fact, it’s easier than going for an individual health insurance policy.

A lot of people running small businesses don’t know this particular piece of information; that they would be far better off with small business health insurance than an individual policy – even if there are health issues involved. The thing to keep in mind is that there are different laws about Florida small businesses. For instance, the law in the state of Florida mandates that health insurance companies sell “any” small business a group health insurance policy. By definition, a small business (small group) has at least a minimum of two workers but, not more than 50.

“There is some eligibility criteria that people need to meet for small business health insurance and one of the requirements is that the worker is employed under a boss who actually runs a legitimate company. In addition, in situations like this, if a small business does succeed in getting small business group health coverage, they are not allowed to cancel the plan because one person may need it,” outlined Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

The good thing to know is that getting a small business group health insurance policy has a lot of advantages going for it. For example, it offers excellent medical care for owners and employees and actually lowers the financial risks of each member of the group. “With lower premiums, just about everyone is happy. The wider coverage for group health insurance is also a major advantage that many people appreciate,” added Tunis.

When pricing comes into the equation, prices for Florida small business group health insurance are really reasonable, and are based on a standard rate. “That standard rate happened to be the average of the risk associated with everyone in the group as a whole. In a small business plan the participants may pay up to 15% more or less the standard value. The amount they pay is dependent on medical conditions,” said Tunis.

One thing to keep in mind is that if the members in the “group” are quite healthy, meaning without any pre-existing medical conditions, then they may pay more in a small business health insurance plan than on an individual health insurance policy.

“This is because the whole group is taken into consideration when the rates are set. When in doubt about what might apply in a small business group health plan scenario, speak to a local health insurance agent who is familiar with this area,” explained Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida. They will be able to assist customers and businesses select what works best for them.

There are some people in Florida that are denied health insurance as a result of certain medical conditions. There is another way to get health insurance.

Thankfully, there are ways that those denied health insurance in Florida are still able to get insured, which is a good thing, since statistically speaking it’s one of the more expensive places to get health insurance. Interestingly enough, there is no set limit on what an insurance company may charge people in Florida for a policy. “However, smaller companies know that people who want and need health insurance are just like us, and we price our policies accordingly,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Despite conditions being ripe for insurance companies to charge what they want for health insurance, there are smaller companies who offer decent prices, good service and excellent health insurance policies suited to each individual. “And the best thing is that if someone has been denied health insurance for a specific condition, there are companies, like ours, that will take the time to shop the condition around and find a carrier who will insure that individual,” added Tunis.

This is largely due to that fact that Tunis knows his carriers inside out and can immediately find what is needed for his clients. It’s refreshing to know that there are still some companies in the health insurance business who really care about their customers and who will go out of their way to make sure they get what they need.

While it might seem like a major hassle to have to ask around all over the place to get a health insurance policy due to a pre-existing condition, the solution is to see a local health insurance broker for one stop shopping. Tunis knows precisely what that is like and has handled many people searching for decent health insurance at a reasonable price. “We know all the carriers and we know where to go. I’ve been able to find people what they need. All they need to do is ask us and we are more than willing to help them,” said Tunis.

Handling those who have been denied insurance is not that hard; at least, it’s not as hard as some people would make it out to be. “The thing is that just because a person was denied by one carrier for a certain condition, doesn’t mean they will be denied by another one. There may be a great deal of flexibility between one carrier and another. For instance, one carrier may outright decline a pre-existing condition like asthma, while another will okay it so long as the person is able to prove they have the condition under control,” outlined Tunis.

“There are ‘always’ other alternatives if someone has been declined for insurance and we welcome those who have been denied health insurance to come and see us, call us or stop by our website. We have access to a large number of carriers and will be able to find them something that works for them,” stated Evan Tunis of Florida Health Care Insurance, Delray Beach, Florida.

Being fat is “not” where it’s at and obesity will send the cost of your insurance premiums skyrocketing.
Florida is not exactly a “small” state, not with a growing population of at least 18 million people. That actually places Florida as the fourth largest state of the Union. Just about 20 percent of the population has no insurance period. Out of that 18 million people, just about 60 percent of them are classified as overweight or morbidly obese. The facts are that if you are seriously overweight and want health insurance, you will be shelling out more money for your premiums. For example, over the last decade or so the average annual cost of Florida family health insurance has shot up over 119 percent.

Think about that for a minute. One hundred and nineteen percent is a major increase in health insurance premiums. While some of the reasons for the increase have to do with the rising costs of health care services, those are the same services that overweight and obese people are using “more” because they are not healthy. It’s a bit like a revolving door in some respects. Obesity promotes poor health and poor health promotes people needing to use the health care system frequently which increases the costs of service to “everyone” across the board.

For those looking for health insurance in Florida, there are three kinds of policies you can get and they are government sponsored, individual and group insurance. What you choose or are used to is generally based on your circumstances. For instance, just about 50 percent of those who have a job in Florida have group health insurance through their place of work.

In cases like that, everybody has the same insurance and no one can be denied. Generally speaking, the employer also pays the premiums – either partially or wholly. Also, if you lose your job, COBRA says you get to stay insured for 18 months so long as you pay the whole premium on your own.

For those that have individual health insurance policies, they might be denied if the insurance company thinks you are too high a risk to insure. Individual insurance is not like group insurance where everyone gets the same policy. Individual insurance means every policy is unique to that person. That means you get to choose what options suit you and tailor make a health insurance plan that works for you. When it comes to premiums however, they are largely set according to actuarial tables based on your hobbies, occupation, age, sex, present health conditions, and any pre-existing conditions.

The bottom line here is that to find what you need in terms of health insurance in Florida, speak directly to a knowledgeable local insurance broker. They are able to give you a much wider choice of options open to you than what you may find on a website. In addition, the personal touch is something that can never be underestimated. That is what good service is all about.

If you want to make sure your family is protected if something happens to you, the way to accomplish that is to have the proper life insurance in place.

While this might seem like a good idea, and you may be ready to buy life insurance because you realize the value it has for your family, where on earth do you get started? There are just so many different companies with different policies and rates that it gets confusing after about the third website. Ideally what you want is a company that knows its products, knows how to explain them in plain English, and doesn’t try to shove something down your throat that you don’t need.

This company needs to be willing to listen to what your needs and requirements are and then translate those into a policy that works for you and with you. The last thing you need is an insurance policy that doesn’t work and won’t give you what you want to provide for your family. This is where it comes in handy if you write down a list of questions to ask your local life insurance broker. The more questions the better; after all it’s “your” life and your money paying the premiums, and you deserve full and complete answers.

Before you get started looking around, decide what you really and truly want from a life insurance company. You could start with comparing life insurance rates with the most popular companies online. Check their websites and find out what they offer for you and your family. Many will ask you to have the usual physical exam before they approve you.

They will also need a list of pre-existing conditions. Whatever you do, don’t leave stuff out in that section, because they will find out about it later, which could disqualify you. In most instances as well, you will be asked to get a letter from your physician outlining what you do have in terms of pre-existing conditions and what medications or other things you are doing to control the conditions.

The usual rule of thumb when you compare life insurance companies online for their policies and premiums is to check out five. While this may seem overwhelming, the best way to go about doing this is to get one quote from one company a week and then compare. That way you don’t get everything in at once. Talk about confusion. The good thing about dealing online is that the quotes are free and if you take the time to speak directly to some of the agents, you will get a good idea or not if the company suits you personally. Keep in mind that the lowest price isn’t always the way to go.

With information in hand, you can now make some decisions. If the cascade of paper is too much, contact an insurance agent to help you winnow it down to something a bit more manageable. The insurance agent is also fully trained to be able to get the quotes you need for the “right” coverage. This will save you an enormous amount of time in the long run and it will also save you money.

While life insurance should never be “too” expensive, it does have to be at a certain level depending on what you want that policy to do for your family. This is one of the most important things you will want to discuss with your agent. So, while you are asking questions, have the agent outline what the various policies mean and how they pay out. This is information that will come in handy when you are making decisions.

The post Applying for Disability Insurance first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
While it’s not terribly difficult to apply for disability insurance, there are some hoops to be jumped through.
To get disability insurance an individual needs to fill out and submit an application form and deal with a few other details that an insurance agent will outline. Once that application is completed, it’s sent to the insurance company who gives it the fine tooth comb treatment and then makes a formal decision on whether or not to offer disability insurance. Again, while this isn’t the same thing as applying for life insurance, it is a good idea to have realistic expectations about pricing, potential exclusions and the timing of the policy ultimately offered for consideration.

One of the first things to remember when applying for disability insurance is that a quote is just that, a quote. It is not guaranteed. It boils down to being a guess and projection about what your agent feels you will be offered. In order to fine tune a quote and to have it be more realistic according to the circumstances of a person’s life, there needs to be discussions about an individual’s medical history, personal history, income and occupation.

Once the agent knows these details, there is going to be a more accurate quote. Generally speaking, expect a quote in the range of 1% to 4% of yearly income. Don’t be surprised if the occupation stated involves things like skydiving, to have the insurance company express a certain amount of reluctance to offer a policy.

After getting several quotes, a person needs to decide which insurance company to work with and then hand in all the rest of the required material: the application, a personal history interview, insurance medical exam and tax forms from two years previously. The only item that is not required is the personal history interview, but this does give the underwriter a much better overall picture of the person they are considering for disability issue.

Underwriting normally takes about 4 to 8 weeks, rarely 4 weeks unless the application is totally perfect in all ways and the applicant is in prime physical health, something that doesn’t happen all that often. To shorten the underwriting process, provide all the information requested and then add more. Usually though the hang up is getting medical records from the family physician.

The medical portion of underwriting is the most critical. Perfect health means you’re good to go and don’t have a medical condition and haven’t been seen by a doctor. Understandably, this is pretty rare, and those with medical conditions need to know about price rating and exclusions when it comes to disability insurance.

Price ratings come into play when the company is offering coverage to an applicant who is considered to be a higher risk than average, e.g. someone morbidly obese. Exclusions are amendments that come with the policy and spell out that a specific condition or even body part is not covered under the policy. Put another way, those with existing medical conditions being treated should expect exclusions for those conditions. The exclusions tend not to affect pricing, but to be sure, talk to an experienced insurance agent to get all of the right answers in a timely, no hassle manner.

Cheaper health care is available by doing some comparison-shopping.

Everyone loves a bargain. Why wouldn’t they be overjoyed to get something at a better price than they thought they might have to shell out in the first place? This is why it actually does pay to shop around for cheaper health insurance premiums.

This doesn’t mean dive right into the first, less expensive option found. It means taking the time to compare what’s on one site with another one. It might sound like a major drag to do that, but if it saves money and gets what’s needed for health care, then it’s well worth it.

Once something is found that should work, this is where people need to fish or cut bait. Pick up the phone and call the health insurance agent on duty and start asking some pointed questions about the plan(s) listed on the website. Talking to an agent is the best way to find out the rules and the exceptions to the rules – which are often more important that what is covered.

Just because something on a health insurance website that has a “to die for” kind of price, don’t take it as being the absolute truth. The sites are designed to provide general information only. Each case will be different and this is why expecting to get what is on a website won’t work. For instance there may be an example of what a person may pay if they happen to be XX age, in XX health without XX illnesses.

Confused? This is one of the reasons people prefer talking to an agent and getting instant feedback. Reading information on a website, while good for generalities, doesn’t do much for the specifics of particular situations. This is particularly true if pre-existing conditions are brought into the equation. Those make a significant difference to health insurance premium rates.

While shopping for health insurance is not the most fun thing in the world, it can be a lot easier and less expensive if done the right way. Take the time to find all the options before making a final decision.

With the country deep in a nasty recession, it should come as no surprise that new statistics show roughly 64% of those soon to retire won’t have enough money saved to maintain their lifestyles.

When you retire, you have expectations of being able to do pretty much what you want to do. But what if you don’t have enough money to do that? What if your standard of living dropped instead, to a level you never imagined was possible?

If you don’t have medical issues, things might be just dandy. However, with the advent of better technology, we are living longer. Living longer may well mean some type of long-term care. While this may be a reality, there are a lot of couples that are not prepared financially to pay that kind of expense out of their pockets. This is where long-term care insurance comes into the picture.

While you might get tired of hearing that insurance of any kind is easier to buy when you are younger, that’s the truth; it is easier. Sure you wonder if it’s worth the expense when you are in your 40s or 50s and in pretty good shape. Even if you are in relatively good health, thinking in advance is a smart thing to do for your future and that of your family as well. The other hard core truth is that if you wait too long to buy the kind of insurance that you need, you might not be able to buy it.

Here are a couple of statistics that will get your attention and get you thinking. They’re from the American Association for Long Term Care Insurance who reveals that virtually 70% of all those who apply for long-term care insurance who are 45 to 54 get accepted. Those in the age bracket of 65 to 74 don’t always get accepted, and the approval rate plummets to about 40%. Policy costs also double for those 65 and over; that is double the cost of what it would have been had you applied when you were 55.

It never hurts to think that you will always be healthy and never need long-term care, but to be blunt, that is honestly not a very realistic point of view. Other studies have indeed shown that just about half of us will need some form of long-term care. Sure you might think that long-term care insurance is expensive and you might not need it and besides, you have a higher chance of being hurt in a car crash or your home going up in flames. That well may be true, but you “do” have insurance for both of those events, so why not have insurance for the possibility of long-term care? It only makes sense and protects you later when you need it the most.

The American Stroke Association says that about one-third of stroke victims become permanently disabled and that one-third of stroke victims are under 65 years old. Those under 65 would not have had the chance to finish stashing money in their retirement fund before losing their ability to work. Think about this – the costs of long-term care. On average it runs about $75,000 a year with one in five Americans needing care for at least a year and about 3% requiring care for more than five years. Some patients with dementia will need care for longer. There is no way your family will be able to afford those costs.

On the other hand if you did buy long-term care insurance early and paid $100 a month, that total at the other end when you really needed it would far outweigh any retirement savings or financial reserves you may have at your disposal. Which chance would you rather take? Not having long-term health care and being unable to afford it? Or having long-term health care and knowing your care will not be a problem for you or a burden to your family. These are tough questions and ones that should be discussed with an expert insurance broker. They won’t sugarcoat what you need to know and will tell you precisely what would work for you for the long-term.

The facts are that every American faces the possibility of being disabled before retirement. Statistics show that it averages about three out of every ten people, but those odds may change.

Disability is not just something that should be considered a physical threat; it needs to be regarded from the financial point of view. Being disabled and not having the ability to work will eat through your savings at a good clip, much faster than you ever thought possible.

What do you do in the event of an injury that lays you out flat for the short or long-term? More insurance industry gurus recommend you have savings of up to six months in order to pay expenses. How many people actually do that? Not many and therein lies the problem. There is a solution to this problem though and it involves short term disability insurance.

Short term disability insurance is available to offer protection to people who don’t have significant savings or for those who can’t pay bills out-of-pocket if they are laid up. In fact, short term disability insurance pays out a percentage of lost wages that ranges anywhere from 50 to 70 percent. That however does depend on the policy, and for a policy that pays out at a higher rate it’s smart to talk to an expert insurance broker who can fill you in on what you need to know.

Here is how a policy like this may work. It makes a payout for a specified time period that may be anywhere from 10 to 26 weeks. While that might not seem like a long time, it’s not meant to be. It’s considered to be a safety net to help a temporarily disabled worker pay their bills for a short time.

Coverage like this is quite often obtained through an employer or even as a part of a worker’s group policy. While that might be a nice thing, you need to know that generally speaking, there are some hoops you may have to jump through. For example, your company might want a doctor to certify your disability, or you might have to use all your sick days first.

As with many insurance contracts, each one has different things that will either benefit you or not. This is one of the major reasons to speak to a fully qualified health insurance broker to get a full explanation of the policies you may be considering.

Not a lot of people like to talk about life insurance as it reminds them of their mortality.

It’s understandable that people don’t want to discuss their own death and thus would put off buying life insurance as a way of “avoiding” the issue. Delaying a life insurance purchase will often make it much more expensive and if this delay is combined with other health factors, this might reflect a picture of a high risk individual to insure; not a benefit for life insurance companies.

Buying life insurance needs to be an informed process where the consumer knows about the options available to them, such as knowing the reasons why they want life insurance, what level and type of insurance they want, and what life insurance broker is able to provide what they want.

One rather common perception is that if a person has no dependents, then they don’t need life insurance. The reality is that people choose to get coverage for a variety of reasons that may include the wish to provide for loved ones after death. It may be just the simple wish of providing life insurance funds to cover funeral expenses or a small sum for the beneficiary to live on. The reasons don’t matter, but the comfort such insurance provides is tangible.

It’s also a good idea to have in mind whether a level term or decreasing term would suit present circumstances. Factor in the amount available to budget monthly and if the overall amount to be insured for is flexible or fixed. An expert life insurance broker will tailor a quote to suit those needs. Always include things like car loans, credit card debt or mortgages into the initial calculations for insurance coverage.

Don’t lie on the insurance application form, as this will be caught later and it may result in the suspension of the policy. If the “fib” is caught later, the insurer may refuse to payout on any claims.

Try online life insurance quotes, however remember that at best many of them are “general” in nature and don’t always address specific concerns or needs. To address those things, speak to an expert life insurance broker about the proper cover.

Insurance is an area that everyone seems to have an opinion, and often that opinion is completely wrong.
It’s a reality that most insurance policies are filled with so much jargon, it’s really hard to make sense of what they are really saying. It’s not much wonder that people make up what they think it says and then try to deal with it later, and pass along those misconceptions to others.

The bottom line is that there are a number of myths that people need to know about to set the record straight about insurance. For instance that famous myth about a person’s job disability will cover them. It’s amazing how many people think lost wages will be covered through their employer’s long-term disability insurance plan. Don’t look now, but that is definitely a myth.

Generally speaking a typical group policy pays about 60% of a person’s wages up to a specified “limit,” such as $4,000 a month. The policy won’t replace bonuses or commissions either. Know what the policy says before assuming something that turns out not to be true and affects the ability to pay bills. Make it a point to speak to an expert insurance broker who will explain what to do if there is not enough insurance, e.g. buy an individual plan that pays up to 70% to 80% of an individual’s salary, etc.

Another prevalent myth is the one that says the homeowner’s policy will cover a lot of things. The problem here is that a lot of homeowners think they are covered for everything including the kitchen sink, and they might “not” be. Read the fine print. A standard homeowner’s policy has limits, and riders are usually needed for things like damage due to power outages, wind storms, earthquakes and sewage backup.

Interestingly enough, many Americans don’t feel they need long-term care insurance; it’s only for seniors. The thing is everyone ages and not always gracefully as one would like. In addition, people think the government helps with long-term care, but in reality Medicare only offers short term care after hospitalization. Look for coverage earlier in life and be prepared.

Drivers often think low deductibles are better for home and vehicle policies. This is definitely a myth because the lower the deductible, the higher the premiums. In addition if a person tends to make a lot of small claims, this works against them because they are costing the insurance company money.

There are more insurance myths that make the rounds with amazing regularity and many of them can be explained by an expert insurance agent who has seen just about everything and cares about his customers. Ask around and find out the “real” truth about insurance and what it does. The answers may be rather surprising.

The post The Necessary What-Ifs of Life first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
One necessary “what if” in life is life insurance, but during this recession, life insurance seems to be the “last” thing that people buy.

Buying life insurance during a recession is one of the last things that people tend to do, rationalizing that any spare money they have needs to go toward keeping food on the table and a roof over everyone’s heads. It goes without saying the many business sectors have been drastically affected by the stunning drop in the economy, and the life insurance business is no exception.

You should be aware that despite the tough times, life insurance “does” make a great deal of sense. It is one of the smartest investments you can make. What makes life insurance slightly different from other financial sectors is that most bill payments are binding and can’t be allowed to lapse without some serious consequences.

Life insurance may lapse if the premiums aren’t paid, but that is all that happens. The insurance lapses and you don’t pay any more premiums, but then, you don’t have life insurance coverage either. Yes, many people think that buying life insurance for those “what if” things that “might” happen in the future is not as necessary as buying food, etc.

Recognizing this, life insurance brokers have been taking a hard look at the products they offer. These days many life insurance companies are asking themselves what they need to do to retain their customers. On the other side of the fence, many customers are thinking that they can do without life insurance until their economic situation improves, and resume the same level of coverage when they are ready to start paying on premiums once again.

This is a misguided assumption as age is a critical factor in buying life insurance and in determining the premiums. This is a risk factor that all life insurance companies use to insure consumers. The older you happen to be, the higher the risk of the life insurance company paying out. That means higher premiums or a smaller sum on payout on death. Put another way, letting your life insurance lapse may mean your life insurance will be “more” expensive when you resume coverage than if you have kept the policy in force.

Perhaps the most critical point to remember is that life insurance is intended to take care of those left behind in the event of a death; to provide them with a safety net if you will. With insurance companies re-evaluating their customer service approach, there may be incentives available for you to retain your life insurance policy even during rough financial times. Ask your broker what options may apply to you.

It’s true, millions of people do not have life insurance and when life throws them a curve, it may spell disaster.

A little long range planning for your life is a smart thing, particularly if you have a family to care for and responsibilities to handle. Consider the case of the young family whose father was the picture of health at the age of 38 years old. Then one day, something went wrong and it was discovered that he had stomach cancer.

A few short months later, the young father died leaving two children and a wife to grieve for him and a pile of bills to boot. The thing that makes this scenario different is that this young dad had life insurance and because he did, he was able to provide for his family, even in death.

Life does have a way of biting one when they least expect it and it’s usually a good idea to be protected for those “what if” moments that tend to come along. Life insurance doesn’t have to be really expensive or even have a lot of bells and whistles, but if does need to keep your family safe. For this reason it’s a smart thing to speak to an expert life insurance broker who knows what products will suit each individual.

Statistics indicate that there are almost 68 million Americans who have no life insurance at all and conversely, those who do have it, often don’t have enough to cover what they need. This is where it makes good sense to speak to a life insurance broker with extensive experience in making sure your life insurance “thinks ahead” of you for just about any eventuality. Nobody wants to die early or suddenly, but it does happen; that “is” life, and what “life” insurance is all about.

One of the questions people ask most often is when they do decide to purchase life insurance, just how much they will need? Actually, the better question to ask is what would you like to have happen in the event of a death? Put another way, what do “you” want?

The more questions you ask, the better it is to get a life insurance policy and package that suits your unique needs. Dealing with a life insurance broker who knows the ropes is the first step in a lifelong relationship; one that will stand you in good stead if something ill fated transpires.

For instance if you think far enough ahead to make provisions for your family, they will not need to move out of their family home should a parent die suddenly. Nor will they need to substantially alter their lifestyles if they have the right plan done in concert with your life insurance broker.

While life goes on no matter what happens, it’s a smart thing to plan for the unexpected, even if it doesn’t happen. Being prepared for those detours in life is what life insurance in all about. You can’t get a better deal than knowing your family is protected should you not be here. Planning ahead and having the “right” life insurance means not having to deal with financial distress as well as emotional distress.

To get life insurance there is a routine that has to be followed before one qualifies.

It only makes sense that to obtain life insurance the company will want to know as much as possible about the person applying. Knowing as much as possible, of course, usually means a health exam done by a doctor or paramedic, lots of forms to fill out, the routine blood tests, urine tests and saliva tests, not to mention the obligatory list of medications being taken and why they are being taken.

It all seems a bit too invasive and nosey, but realistically if a person expects to get their life insured, then they have to expect that the company considering doing that will want to know as much medical information as possible. It’s not just the medical information they insist on either. Many insurance companies will be asking questions about smoking history, hobbies (just in case the person sky dives or pilots a plane) and pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions don’t exclude someone from getting insurance, but it may change the category or class they are ultimately approved in which to get insurance.
If, on the other hand, the person applying for life insurance wants less than $100,000 and happens to be under 40, they usually don’t have a tough time getting what they need. In either instance, the cost of the life insurance premium does tend to depend on the person’s age and health, which brings up an interesting scenario. What if the person applying for life insurance does not reveal all of their health issues?

If they didn’t confess to all their medical issues and withheld the fact that they smoke occasionally, this will come out in the salvia test they submitted to, no matter how many breath mints they have to hide the fact. Interestingly enough many insurance companies don’t tend to penalize people for failing to be totally honest about their health, as it may have been a genuine oversight, or they view their odd cigarette as classifying them as being a non-smoker because it’s not a whole pack.

Generally speaking though, it’s wise to just tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth and save the embarrassment later. Being honest about one’s health will only help get the right kind of life insurance in the final analysis.

Florida health insurance that is tailored specifically for an individual’s life only makes good common sense. If it wasn’t suitable, why would someone bother to buy it?

It’s no secret that Florida health insurance is essential. It is also no secret that it has the potential to be expensive, which accounts for the rising number of uninsured in the state. Recently, the government and a handful of non-profit organizations have started to wade into the health care field in an effort to reduce the expense of Florida health insurance. That only makes good sense in order to make medical care accessible to people who need it the most. It’s about time the sense of “community” began to take hold in the critical area of Florida health insurance.

It’s not just individuals who need Florida health insurance. It’s designed for groups as well. In both instances, it is set up to protect people and allow access to health care services. Shopping for the right kind of insurance and making sure it’s affordable is often a major concern for people, particularly during a recession. Florida health insurance is noted for offering coverage for children up to the age of 19, pregnant women, families and self-employed people. Still, it’s a smart consumer who takes the time to check on the varying prices offered from one insurance company to another.

Florida health insurance basically offers what a health insurance plan should offer: benefits for medications, prescription coverage, hospital stays and doctor visits. The plans available range from individual Florida health insurance to large group health insurance and from temporary health insurance to small group insurance. No matter what coverage a person needs, there is a Florida health insurance plan that will fit the bill.

In order to qualify for individual Florida health insurance, there is a medical exam to pass. It’s the usual run of the mill doctor’s checkup kind of test that will provide the insurance company with a complete health record. If a person does qualify for Florida health insurance, the next step is paying the premium which is usually based on medical history and age.

Opting to buy individual Florida health insurance is less expensive than group health, but the choices made in the final analysis may depend on other factors rather than just cost. This is why it is best to speak with a local Florida health insurance agent who knows his plans inside out and who can provide a clear overview of what benefits each policy has to offer.

Now and then people get into conversations about life insurance, what it does and how much they have, but does anyone really “get” what life insurance is all about?

In a nutshell, life insurance gives money to a listed beneficiary (friend, spouse, family member) if the person who holds the policy dies. In most cases, people buy life insurance to cover their final expenses such as the funeral and burial and to provide income to a beneficiary. Other reasons may include a wish to cover college expenses for someone or a legacy and to pay off estate taxes. There are exceptions to this general rule in that some people just buy a death benefit policy, while others may choose a policy that grows in value over a period of time.

If you don’t know what you want, the best place to start is to review the basics of life insurance, figure out how much coverage you actually need, what type of insurance might best suit you and how the underwriting process works. You certainly don’t have to do this on your own and in fact you’d be one smart life insurance shopper if you took the time to speak to a life insurance expert about the various options you may choose.

Usually the first thing people wonder about when they start thinking about life insurance is how much coverage they should get. There isn’t a right or a wrong number for the amount you would need to cover expenses upon death, but there are a few things you should consider. Take into account what your current financial position happens to be, meaning what are your assets, income, expenses and liabilities? Do you have an idea of what your final expenses would be? What debts are you carrying that might be long-term in nature for your family? Do you want to leave income for a survivor?

Depending on your answers, you should be able to get a rough idea of the amount of life insurance you may need. For example if you want to make sure someone has income on your death, you need to also take into consideration the yearly interest rate. So really life insurance is all about planning for your goals and then finding the right vehicle to carry out your wishes.

You need to know that there are four categories of life insurance you may consider and those are considered to be the primary types of life insurance: term life, whole life, variable universal life and universal life. Before you make any choices about what you ultimately buy, you should be asking questions about the features and benefits of each choice available. Be aware that some insurance plans offer some form of cash accumulation while others do not.

In order to be approved for life insurance you will need to go through an underwriting process which basically means filling out a general medical and financial application and a physical examination. In most cases the whole process may take about 3 to 6 weeks for approval. At that point, you will start paying your life insurance premiums.

Life expectancy for Americans is higher than ever – almost 78 years. On the other side of the coin, the death rate has dropped dramatically to 760.3 deaths per 100,000 people.

If one sits down and does some math with the life expectancy and lower death rates, the first thing that comes to mind is that if people are living longer and dying less, they will need to have more money to do that. In addition to needing to have more money, they will also need life insurance that makes sense for them in order to be covered properly.

The problem is that many Americans just don’t have spare cash right now, if they have “any” cash at all during this recession. All over the U.S. things are tight and people don’t spend money on anything they don’t think is absolutely necessary – often that includes life insurance. Unfortunately that is somewhat counter intuitive as this is a product that people “do” need in times like this despite begin strapped for cash.

Many people are faced with situations such as taking out a loan/mortgage for a house and then not going for the life insurance to cover it in case of a death. Those who already have life insurance are also cutting back on their coverage, in the hopes they will pick it up later when things improve economically.

Right now the life insurance market is fairly competitive and the rates are pretty good. There are many different options open to people and they’re fairly easy to get information on by going online to various life insurance websites. Fighting with the fear of not having enough money to pay the bills usually stops people from considering purchasing life insurance. However, if they can see past the immediate problem to the long-term future, this would be a worthwhile and smart investment.

One doesn’t need to buy a life insurance policy with all the bells and whistles. A basic life insurance policy is a grand place to start. Make it a point to check that out first and also compare what other kinds of policies happen to be available as well. Whole life is also an option – for which a person pays a set premium while decreasing life insurance lowers the coverage while the mortgage decreases. Generally speaking whole life insurance pays out on your death, while the term cover simply refers to insurance for the “term” of that particular policy. That means it could end without any payout, so in the long run, term insurance is cheaper.
There are tough questions to face when trying to determine the amount of life insurance that would work to cover the family in the event of the death of the major income earner. For instance, are there other loans and debts to pay off, has the mortgage been increased or borrowed against for other reasons? Has the level of the life insurance been raised to cover all the extra debt? Is it feasible to “not” have insurance or be adequately covered?

Always make it a point to speak to a life insurance expert to get the real scoop on all the differing policies available for various situations. The agent knows the product and can definitely provide professional advice on what would work best in certain situations.

The post Making Sure Life Insurance Proceeds Aren’t Taxed first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
There are ways to make sure life insurance proceeds don’t become a part of your estate.

First of all, if you are in a position to buy additional life insurance, meaning more than what you currently have, not only will you likely save money on the premiums, but you will have the opportunity to put that policy (or policies) into an irrevocable trust. The main reason for doing that is to make sure the proceeds of that policy or policies are not taxed leaving the beneficiaries with less money than they would need to survive.

Chances are that since you last bought a life insurance policy that rates have jumped substantially. The fact is if you check online you’ll find out that premiums have actually shot up anywhere from 10% to 15%, a significant hike. This may be a deal breaker for some people, but one needs to remember that either way with higher premiums or the prospective buyer being older, the premiums are going to be high.

This means shopping about for the best rate right now and not waiting another six months or so to make a decision. The longer people wait to buy extra insurance, the higher the costs. That’s a fact of doing business during a recession. Prices won’t drop and one can pretty much guarantee they will continue to rise, so acting quickly may offer the better deal on life insurance premiums.

Figuring out how much coverage is needed is a bit like a game of Russian roulette – it’s hard to know what the outcome will be. Generally speaking the rule of thumb is that people should buy five to 10 times their income in coverage. This may be too small for some people and they may opt to bump that figure up to 20 or even 30 times their income for coverage. This of course is an individual decision based on the family’s circumstances and future plans.

If the policy is supposed to be owned by a trust, speak to an attorney who will outline how the process is initiated and ultimately achieved. It’s usually best to set up the trust first and then apply for the life insurance. Setting up a trust does tend to take some time, so if this is something worth doing, take the time to do it right the first time so there are no glitches further down the road.

There are a few things needed to set up a trust – a separate bank account to fund the trust and an employee identification number obtained from the IRS, and a few other legal documents. Entrust this process to an attorney and save the major headache it will generate.

Once the new additional life insurance policy has been bought (and the trust fund all ready to roll) the good news is that it is really easy to transfer any other life insurance policies into the trust. This protects a person’s estate from being unnecessarily taxed – for now that is. No one really knows what will happen with estate taxes in the future, so be safe now because if things change, what is in place now will likely be grandfathered.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you really can find cheaper Florida health care if you take the time to look for it. The secret is comparison-shopping.

While it might come as a surprise to think you really are able to get cheaper Florida health insurance; the fact is, it really is available. All you have to do is be willing to surf the Internet, carefully read what you find, and call a Florida health insurance agent to ask questions.

Not everything you see on a health insurance website is the gospel truth as you’d like to know it. You are only seeing part of a huge network of people dealing with thousands of variables as they try to quote health insurance prices to thousands of people – most of whom want the cheapest fix they can get, but the best coverage that money can buy. Bit of an oxymoron that was.

Sure you might find insurance agents that can quote you a price that suits your budget, but when you get to chat about pre-existing health conditions, suddenly the price changes – drastically. So you scratch that carrier and move on to find one who will accept you. You may find one, and their price may be better than the first company you talked to, except they exclude your pre-existing medical condition. This basically means you’re no further ahead than you were when you started calling around.

Cut to the chase when you call Florida health insurance agents and let them know right up front if you have any pre-existing health conditions. This will save you time on the phone and also tell you who will cover you and who won’t. Chances are in the long run you will need to go with a carrier who will cover you, pre-existing condition and all.

The exclusion of pre-existing health conditions is rather an odd form of discrimination against people with an illness and indicates the insurance company would prefer to only insure healthy people as they’re less of a risk. There’s food for thought.

You often don’t know what you have in terms of health care benefits until you find out you don’t have them. Read the fine print.

It’s no laughing matter when you go to use your health insurance benefits and find out you don’t have what you thought you did for health coverage. In fact it’s often a nasty shock to the system and to your wallet.

This, more than anything, points out one essential thing we all should be doing – reading the fine print on our health insurance contracts, supplements, plans or whatever you want to call them. Whatever you do choose to call them, make sure when you search for Florida health insurance that you have a list of questions you want answered.

While it might seem as exciting as watching paint dry, reading the fine print will tell you precisely what is covered and what isn’t. In other words you won’t find out about it later when you’re in a situation where you thought you had coverage – and didn’t. Now that just cost you some money you didn’t expect to be paying out. Whether you’re opting for Florida HMO, PPO or POS, know what you need versus what you might get.

Sad, but true, are the health insurance companies that hope you don’t read what type of coverage you’re getting. This means they can sell you something that is relatively inexpensive compared to other plans. Well there’s a reason the plan they’re selling is cheaper. It doesn’t have the kind of coverage you may need. Florida health insurance has so many different loopholes, options, advantages and disadvantages that your best bet is to talk to an expert agent who knows their stuff.

Customer service hears these kinds of complaints all the time from people more than a tad irked about not being covered for something they wanted. It’s not their problem that you didn’t get what you wanted. They’re trying to backfill what an agent sold you. If you’re annoyed about your coverage, it’s the agent with whom you need to deal.

Make it a point to take the time to read what your health insurance benefits really provide, not assume without glancing at them that you have all you really need. Far too many people have been unpleasantly shocked to find out their health coverage wasn’t all that it should be.

If you’re in Florida and wanting information on Florida health insurance and what it really has to offer, talk to the experts. Don’t call a large online health care quote provider who could care less where you live or what you need.

It’s a well-known fact that Medicare supplements are much more versatile than Americans think. There are so many options available that people may opt for a health care plan ideally tailored to each individual.

We all know that supplements are designed to help something that does not quite make the grade in the first place; that supplements make things better, sort of like taking vitamins. The original health care system was designed to be all things to all people, but seriously fell short in some areas. This is why there are Medicare supplemental health insurance policies, and they’re sold by private health insurance companies.

Medicare supplement policies (called Medigap) fill the “gaps” in the original Medicare plan, and they help top off out-of-pocket medical expenses that people would be forking out – depending on which plan a person had. Note: The plans are actually called “parts.” What this means is that Medicare and Medigap work together to cover health insurance costs.

The thing to remember is that Medigap policies in each state are standardized, which means they have specific benefits common to them all, and this applies no matter where a person happens to live. One further thing to note is that standardized doesn’t mean people have less choices to suit their individual lifestyles. There are 10 different parts lettered from A to J. Part A is the one that has to be offered in all states; F the most popular.

Now, with respect to Medigap parts – Medigap parts have different sets of basic and extra benefits. Part A is mandated, but parts B through J MAY be offered if the health insurance carrier wants to offer them. Plan A is only available to people without medical coverage due to disability and Medicare combined with Plan A is the lowest level of coverage.

None of this should prevent a smart shopper from calling around for different rates. People can actually save money on Medicare/Medigap combination deals because this is the only area (Medigap) where health insurance companies set their own rates. What health insurance companies offer is standard, but the price for the choices is variable.

If a person is considering a Medigap policy, they will need both Medicare Parts A and B. There are other considerations, but talk to a local insurance broker. Their advice is free and they will save consumers a lot of time trying to find the answers to Medicare questions.

People need to know they have a constant income in the event of a disability affecting their job.

Everyone knows that the economy is in shambles and that just about everyone is squeaking by with the skin of their teeth. Unfortunately, the number of Americans who are in this wobbly boat is growing on a daily basis, with no end in sight within the foreseeable future. It’s times like this that workers relish the security of a constant income in the face of disability, and it is possible with planning.

In the event of a medical catastrophe, having disability insurance would provide some peace of mind that the bills are being paid. “While many have Florida health insurance to cover the incidental illnesses of life, if they are hurt badly enough to not be able to work, they would not be able to pay daily expenses without an income. In addition, they would have medical expenses that were not covered and the inevitable insurance deductibles,” said Evan Tunis of Florida Heath Care Insurance.

There are a lot of Americans who tend to think that nothing bad will happen to them and when it inevitably does, they may face a journey that includes foreclosure on their home and personal bankruptcy as a result of their disability. “There is actually a three in ten chance of becoming injured enough to not be able to work to earn a living,” outlined Tunis.

In order to protect the family, assets and lifestyle, planning in advance is a smart move. The next smart move is choosing the right disability insurance product with the help of a well-qualified Florida health insurance broker. “It’s a bit of a conundrum to buy catastrophic health insurance, and then be too disabled to work and have any level of income. Check out disability insurance plans because they have the potential to save a personal lifestyle,” added Evan Tunis of Florida Heath Care Insurance.

Over the years, major medical (catastrophic) insurance has become the darling of young professionals.

The reason major medical seems to be so popular is because it’s totally affordable and will offer outstanding protection for major medical problems when they arise. While it’s a good Florida health insurance plan, it still should be examined in-depth before anyone makes a decision to buy it.

All Florida health insurance plans have their pros and cons and those need to be taken into consideration when buying health insurance. Never leap before you look is a good rule of thumb when considering various types of Florida health insurance. In order to figure out the good and the bad of major medical, start by finding out what the advantages and disadvantages are with this plan.

Let’s take a look at a few of the advantages of major medical. For instance, we already mentioned it is very reasonably priced. The reason for that is because a younger person, in good health, may have Florida health insurance quotes on premiums as low as $40 a month.

Plan coverage is also very attractive for those “whoops” moments we all seem to run into in our lives. Major medical Florida health insurance would pay quite a large amount of the bill because it is deductible based – meaning the insurance company forks the dollars over to the medical provider and just takes its deductible.

Having mentioned the deductible, this may also be a disadvantage because the higher the deductible, the more affordable the insurance plans. This means that policyholders will be coughing up a large chunk of change to cover medical bills. Also, keep in mind that this kind of plan is “only” for major medical events, not something like a condition that needs regular medical visits.

So, take a look at the pros and cons and then make the decision about what you want and if you think it will be a good risk for you to take. Before making the plunge, talk to a qualified, licensed Florida health insurance broker who knows his stuff; that might help you make up your mind as well.

If you want to cut costs for your health care expenses, use generic drugs.

We all know that health care these days is really pricey, and the costs just keep escalating. It’s no particular secret that Americans tend to overload and overwhelm our current health care system. Far too many people use a hospital as a doctor’s office, run to a physician with a minor problem or just visit the doctor to ask about a new medication. In other words, we are using the system in ways it isn’t supposed to be used. This ought to make you give serious consideration to taking a look at your own habits when it comes to using the medical system.

No one is saying you have to be a crusader for others, to stop them from overusing the health care system. However, there is something to be said for taking responsibility for your own habits. What you do will make a huge difference in how much money you save in the long-term. Think that is a load of baloney? Give the matter some thought first, before deciding one way or the other, and keep reading for some ideas to cut your health care expenses.

Want to save mega-bucks on drugs? If you do want to cut expenses on your medications, then shop online by using mail order pharmacies. Make sure they are reputable of course and then go ahead and order. It doesn’t matter where they are located – either in Canada or the U.S. – because the bottom line is saving money. So ultimately, you will be looking for the best prices you are able to find. Hint: sometimes cross border online shopping will net you a month’s supply of meds for $15 instead of what you’d pay at home at the pharmacy – say $150. Saving that kind of money every month is pretty attractive to say the least.

Paying less for meds makes a significant difference in the amount of money you shell out every month. This of course means having money for other things that are needed for your family. You work hard enough as it is for your money and paying less for medications is very enticing.

Hint: buy generic drugs. You really don’t need to use a brand name drug when a generic one will do. Besides, it will save you even more money. Many people think that generic drugs are not as effective as the old standby brand name drugs. This is not the case. The only differences between brand name and generic drugs may lie in the coating or pill size, but the way they work is the same as brand name drugs. The drug is the same; it’s just that a big name Big Pharma company didn’t manufacture it.

The post Where’s the Insurance Agent When You Need Help? first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
It’s not uncommon for people to have problems with their insurance company. When that happens people want to talk to their agents fast, and get things sorted out.

It happens. Things go wrong with a health insurance claim and it can only get sorted out by contacting the agent. However, the agent isn’t anywhere to be found. The health insurance company that provided the insurance isn’t much help either, as they are out of state, enormous, and have no idea what is happening locally in that area. They may not even really know what the fuss is all about either.

If the idea is to buy health insurance that suits a family or an individual, then it’s best to stay local and buy health insurance from a well-known local health insurance agent. They know the system in their area, know what doctors provide various services, what hospitals are the best, and who does and doesn’t honor their claims. Of course inside information like that is totally invaluable and will save someone money, time and hassle in the long run.

Local agents also know enough to sell customized packages to customers, and not general ones that don’t provide what an individual or family needs. If a custom fit for insurance in important, buying from a local health insurance agent is the smartest move.

Don’t be reticent about talking directly to a local insurance agent. They are there to assist people in choosing health insurance that is best suited to their needs. They are not there to “sell” something. They are there to help explain the various alternatives available for health coverage. If they sold something people hated and vanished, they wouldn’t last in that line of work for very long, and their horrible reputation would precede them. When in doubt, check the history of a health insurance agent. The longer they have been in business, the better a person’s chances are at getting good prices and good service.

Isn’t that unique, finding a health insurance company to stand behind a customer? When a major beef transpires with an insurance carrier, knowing the local agent who has provided service for years is a real boon. They know the situation and can go to bat to get things resolved. If people rely on general package quotes from online out-of-state sources, there’s the risk of not getting personal service.

Well no one actually is knocking on the door, at least not when it comes to life insurance.

That’s right, no more sales reps at the door offering to explain various Florida life insurance policies and hoping to make a sale. Technology has finally caught up with the life insurance industry and applications are now done online. Well, some life insurance agents offer this lovely new, no hassle feature. It isn’t widespread yet, but chances are it may be in a few years.

Imagine no more paper forms, no more scrambling for the pen the dog chewed, no more trying to figure out what forms need to be filled out and what medical information is needed to go with what question. No more filling cups of coffee for the agent in the living room who looks like they might be there all night with all the forms, booklets, pamphlets, and questionnaires.

No more trying to figure out what the answer to that last question was; it was so loaded with jargon it was hard to make out the normal English words, surrounded by those “not withstanding” clauses, etc. If the right agent is online and able to offer Florida life insurance via the Internet, imagine how much more simplified the whole process of applying would be without all the forms. There are online forms, but they certainly don’t take up pages and pages, like a regular life insurance form.

Offering Florida life insurance online doesn’t mean that people have to stop speaking to the agent who if offering the insurance. It’s like buying health insurance online, if there are questions, it is best to pick up the phone and call the agent directly for the complete picture. This is the same thing with life insurance online. If there are questions, things that pertain to someone’s individual circumstances, the agent would encourage a shopper to call and ask those questions.

In the meantime, remember that everything that a person needs to know is not going to be on the website. This is because there is far too much information to put it all on one site. Make it a point to contact the local Florida life insurance agent for further details if something on a form or a question doesn’t seem to make sense.

It’s an idea whose time has come –getting life insurance quotes online with all the comforts of home, and the option to contact an agent directly if that is necessary. Now that’s the ticket.

There’s a big difference between having a co-pay plan with an employer and having to put money out of one’s own pocket for medical expenses.

Not a lot of people really understand the differences between a co-pay situation and a no pay situation. The co-pay is an arrangement with an employer to pick up part of the doctor’s bill after a visit. This is actually a “benefit” not insurance, although many people think it is insurance. In any other circumstances, meaning not having a co-pay arrangement through an employer, the person will be paying the doctor’s office fees themselves.

If you leave the company you work for and you had co-pay benefits, then you will now have to get your own health insurance. Someone who has been used to having that nice co-pay benefit figures they only have to call an insurance company and ask for that insurance. Granted it is a type of insurance people may get, however the deductibles are staggering for an individual, as this is usually something a large company offers to workers.

If you’re used to the co-pay arrangement and would like to stick with that kind of arrangement, talk to your local insurance agent and find out what suits your needs and your special circumstances. If your insurance company is worth its weight in gold, they will take the time to walk you through the various other alternatives you might want to consider. This is one of the main reasons why it makes sense to stick with local health insurance agents, because they know the lay of the land.

It’s difficult to change from insurance that you are used to and find something similar to what you had when you were employed. Many people find themselves kind of stuck when they expect one thing and wind up not being able to get it, or be able to afford it. If you take the time to talk to a local health insurance agent, they will be able to assist you in choosing something that will work for your new situation.

The post What You See May Not Be What You Get first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
While you might see a great health insurance quote on a website, “preferred rate” is what it is called; it does not always mean you will get that rate.

The fact is that when health insurance companies figure out health insurance rates, they have a “preferred” rate for someone in tip-top shape. Unfortunately, not all of us happen to be in that kind of shape. Your rates are figured out depending on what your health conditions happen to be. If you happen to have a health issue or two, then this will likely mean you will be moved to a different category and have a different rate to pay.

Even if you decide to do an online search for health insurance rates, you need to remember that if you have asthma, stomach problems or allergies, this will make a difference. Not telling the health insurance agent that you have these conditions is not even an option. If you go for treatment for them later, this discrepancy will be caught later and your insurance may be canceled.

The reality of today’s world is that virtually everyone from you to your next door neighbor is being treated for something by a doctor. So, if you are getting allergy medicines, stomach pills or inhalers for your asthma, this will affect the rates you are quoted.

It doesn’t mean you won’t get insurance, it just means your quote will be different than the person who is in super shape and has no pre-existing medical conditions. You may, in some instances, be uninsurable depending on the condition you have. However, this is something you need to discuss with your health insurance agent. Usually there is some other alternative “if” that happens to be the case.

If you figure that by talking directly to the health insurance carrier that it will make a difference in your rates, you’d be wrong. The reason for that is that health insurance rates are federally mandated. Ultimately the differences in pricing will be attributable to what criteria the health insurance company uses to assess risk. Just remember that if the rate you see on the website isn’t applicable to you, there will be one that will apply.

Shopping locally for health insurance means getting to know the ins and outs of a local area, as opposed to talking to a company out-of-state that knows nothing about what people in other locations really need.

A good health insurance agent actually saves people money, and that is a fact. While they may have a product to sell to consumers, they also have the knowledge to be able to tailor the right package to the right budget. Even though some insurance prices are federally fixed, insurance agents are able to offer price comparisons between various carriers and yes, offer reasonable prices for various plans, etc.

Many people don’t realize that every insurance carrier does have a fairly wide latitude in handling their insurance package, just so long as they are still operating well within the guidelines of the federal law. If they do that, health insurance brokers may choose to exclude some items (e.g. pre-existing conditions), decline insuring others, or even approve an individual with a particular condition with proof it is being medically managed.

If an insurance agent stays within the federal guidelines, a highly knowledgeable agent will search for and compare policies that suit their customers. The plan they find may offer a lower deductible and/or health insurance premium. In other words, there are a variety of things a good agent who is intimately familiar with his products, is able to do for customers. Rather than rely on website information alone, a smart health insurance shopper needs to call an agent and get personal service.

While websites may offer relatively accurate information, they never have the full range of options and alternatives that are actually available. This is because there is no way any agent is able to put all they know on a website without having a huge website and thoroughly confusing people.

What is usually on a website is the general information that may be applicable to some people, but not others. In other words, just because something is on a website does not mean it would be applicable to everyone. This is why it is best to call and find out what is actually applicable to your specific circumstances.

When things change in the health care system, people get royally confused.

While it’s nice to know that there are changes coming to the health system in June 2010, there have been some minor tweaks to it over the past few years. The major problem is that the right hand doesn’t seem to know what the left hand is doing, which would definitely account for the shape the health care system is in today. It’s enough to give health care consumers serious doubts about the future of the system.

Many people wonder why the system is in the mess it is. The bottom line is that it is run by a major clutch of separate business entities; in other words, a whole flock of insurance companies, who don’t seem to speak to each other.

While all these insurance companies are running around trying to be competitive and stay in business, they tend to forget who really counts in this picture: the consumers. The changes to the system that are slated for June 2010 will likely level the playing field and we’ll all see the larger insurance companies scramble for business by lowering their rates. Be aware that there will be a good chance those lower rates may only last for a year, when they will be kicked back up again.

In the meantime things seem to be trundling along as they always have been, in fits and starts of efficiency with occasional pauses of sheer system exhaustion to try and recoup and continue. Ask anyone what their opinion is on the health care system today and the answer will likely contain a reference to how high health insurance premiums happen to be, followed by how overused the system is as well.

To even begin to change the way things are the state of the economy has to be wrestled to the ground, something that will take many years and many billions of dollars to accomplish. While change may be coming in several ways over the next few years, it’s hard to imagine what may replace what is currently the devil we know.

There is an old Hungarian proverb that mentions it is easier to deal with the devil we know, rather than the one we don’t. It seems this may be quite appropriate when applied to the proposed changes to the health system for the future.

Whether or not you are fit or overweight makes a big difference to your health insurance premiums.

This really should make some sense when you stop to consider what we’re saying here. If you are overweight to obese it will affect your health insurance rates. Weighing too much means your health risks increase.

There is a little something called the body mass index, or BMI, that is used as a rating factor when people buy health insurance premiums. So, if you’re too heavy for your height, you are paying more money to get decent health insurance. Now that may not be something you want to hear, but it’s a fact and is the way the health insurance industry is operated.

If we’re overweight then that means we are largely responsible for what we are paying out in health care costs. Here’s another startling fact – our health system is in the mess it is now because we have been overusing it and yes, abusing it shamelessly. It’s up to us to make responsible personal health care choices, not up to the system to try and keep us well when we turn around and sabotage their efforts at every turn.

This means we are largely responsible for what we pay for health care. As radical as that may sound, the health care system is in the mess it is today because we are overusing it and abusing it. It’s time we took responsibility for our personal health care choices.

The more overweight we are, the more our chances of developing a serious illness. You have to realize this too, that health insurance is about covering you for potential illnesses; however, if you choose to be overweight (there are exceptions to this) the insurance industry regards you as taking risks with your health. So, if you are choosing to be heavy, you will pay a higher insurance premium.

Let’s face it, insurance companies don’t run charities, they operate with a finely tuned bottom line. If you are heavy by choice or due to laziness, you will pay more because the business of health insurance only really wants to insure healthy people at their optimal weights. Insurance companies are businesses – period. They will risk money on those who are in good shape, but they really don’t like covering someone who will cost them money.

Everyone needs a few hints when shopping for health insurance in Florida.

If there weren’t so many health insurance policies to choose from, it wouldn’t be so hard to shop for one, now would it? While it’s really nice to have options, sometimes too many options are confusing. However, you need to look at it this way – the more options you have at your disposal, the better your chances are of getting a health insurance policy that actually suits your needs.

If you get confused, don’t give up; speak to a licensed and highly informed health insurance broker. S/he will make more sense than trying to sort through masses of health insurance information on your own. They’re not there to sell you something; they’re there to provide free information. If you choose to buy through them, that is your decision, but you are not obligated to buy from the person you ask health insurance questions.

Speaking of questions, this is one of the smartest moves you could ever make when you want to shop for health insurance quotes in Florida. Sit down and write a list of questions, the questions you want answers to and could then explain those answers to your spouse. Once you have your questions, do some snooping to see what choices you may have. If you are a first time shopper, it helps to know what your maximum out-of-pocket expenses will be – a.k.a. the co-insurance maximum.

Make sure you also have done some advance calculations, budget-wise, because you want to know the dollar coverage – meaning the maximum you would spend in a year for in and out-of-network medical expenses. In insurance language this is called roughing out the costs for the deductible and the co-insurance limit.

Read the whole policy before you buy it for this very simple reason – if you don’t you might get caught later and face an unwanted surprise. For instance, say you happen to have a $3 million lifetime expense average, which sounds good on the surface. However, what happens if you read in the fine print that the insurance plan actually has a per incident/per year maximum and those limits supersede that lifetime maximum?

Okay, if you don’t want to sit in the agent’s office and read the policy, then ask pointed questions about things such as per incident, per year maximums and other questions that might crop up later if you don’t know about those things now.

Yes, health insurance rates are higher right now, but no one seems to really understand why.

Health insurance rates mainly go up for one reason and that reason is that people do not take care of themselves. It is that simple and that complicated at the same time. “If people don’t take responsibility for their own health and instead foist that task on an already overburdened health care system, it’s no wonder health care rates are atrocious,” explained Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance.

Being human, the human condition gives rise to smoking, over-eating, over-indulging in prescription or illegal drugs, avoiding gyms and work outs like the plague, and aging. Of course the last one, aging, we really are unable to do too much about, except vigorously pursue preventive health care. “Check out the national statistics for the rate of obesity in America,” suggested Tunis. It will astonish even the most hard-nosed individual.

Consider the high costs of treating alcoholics, smokers and drug addicts, and now also consider that there is an element of choice in all these addictions. It’s not too hard to see why the cost of health care is creeping up every year. It sure isn’t going down and the numbers of people who continue to choose to abuse themselves doesn’t seem to be on the decline either.

“Another area of concern relates to medical inflation,” indicated Tunis. There is no way anyone is able to find out what the actual cost of any kind of surgery happens to be. No one will divulge that kind of information for the simple reason that they only know what they are going to bill, when they actually bill it out. Nothing like last minute medical charges being added to a patient’s bill.

Many patients have been stunned to get bills that reflect being charged for things like an extra pillow or more dressing for a wound. This boils down to just about every item and service being charged out separately while someone is in the hospital. It’s not much wonder that the bills are so high.

If people want lower health care rates, they need to start looking after themselves a whole lot better than they have been. “The healthier Americans are, the less expensive health care will be,” added Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance.

The post Health Insurance Prices Are Affected by Various Things first appeared on SEONewsWire.net.]]>
There are three things that affect the price of health insurance medical inflation, medical errors and the humans who use the system.

Medical errors, according to statistics, do seem to be going down these days and are now checking in at about the 20% range. “If that is the case, then by doing the math, it will tell us that 80% of the reasons for high health insurance prices are humans neglecting their health care and medical inflation, ” said Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance.

The statistics came by way of the Department of Health & Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. What a shocking set of statistics they released, including the fact that potentially preventable errors during or after surgery may cost close to $1.5 billion a year. That’s $1.5 billion a year – a staggering number and one that should make any red-blooded American sit up and take notice.

Imagine what that kind of money could do if diverted into stabilizing the economy or was put back into the health care system. Fixing medical errors is chilling and really, those errors should not have happened in the first place. “This kind of an extra burden placed on an already overburdened system is just asking for trouble,” commented Tunis.

If one adds in the human factor to medical errors, as many Americans do not take care of themselves, the health insurance rates will continue to creep up every year with no sign of stopping. “It’s interesting to note that if there is a medical error caught, the hospital is obligated to fix the situation,” pointed out Tunis. However, they also try to bill the cost of fixing their error to an insurance company. Just how that is supposed to work is anyone’s best guess.

Death or injuries as a result of medical errors really isn’t a new problem. It seems to have been with us since the advent of hospitals. The problem is that not much seems to be done about it. Sure the health care system is way overtaxed with trying to care for everyone using it, and errors are inevitable. However, the fact that over 300,000 people a year lose their lives due to medical errors makes one stop cold,” added Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance.

If you’re surfing for online insurance quotes be aware that many times the rates shown on an insurance site are for “preferred” customers.

If you happen to be in the market for health insurance, you might want to take the time to check out several sites and get some decent quotes you can compare side by side. It’s important to call more than just one health insurance agent for information as well, as each agent works with different carriers, and they may be able to find you different deals. Always make it a point to ask questions, even though you may have found information on the Internet.

It’s just a fact of life that all insurance sites can’t have everything on them that you would need to know to choose an insurance plan to suit you; there’s just too much information. So, be careful when you are checking online quotes and ask the health insurance agent if what you read on their website is the “preferred” rate. If you happen to have any pre-existing conditions, this may immediately dash your hopes of the preferred rate.

Health insurance rates are predicated on your health history and if you have for instance, asthma, you may need to be put into a different category than the one you see quoted online. Just about everyone one has “something,” and it’s just another given in life. So, don’t check out quotes expecting to get what is quoted online if you have various conditions.

To better increase your chances of getting the type of insurance you need and plans that are suited to you individually, it’s best to speak to a local insurance agent. They know all their carriers. They know the ins and outs of the system, not to mention the local hospitals, the service they provide, and the local doctors.

This is invaluable information and you can only get it by dealing locally. If you deal with someone four states away from you, they have no idea what you really need in your particular area, and even less of an idea what the local hospitals and doctors are all about. It’s that simple; local health insurance agents know their stuff and they are happy to share it with you.

If you do happen to have a bone to pick with your health insurance company, you are definitely not alone.

Ever notice that when you are dealing with a larger health insurance company and have a complaint (or question) that you spend what seems like hours on the phone getting the run around from department to department? Then, when you get off the phone after talking to several people, you’re not really sure what they said – if they indeed said anything at all that helped you with your problem.

Dealing with large online insurance companies who don’t happen to be in your area can be a total nightmare, and is just one more reason why dealing locally will improve your relations with your health insurance broker and the companies s/he represents. Those larger online behemoths that happen to be in other states can’t help you deal with a local doctor’s denied claim, for the very simple reason that they don’t know the doctor. Frankly, they hardly know you either.

Stay local and talk to local insurance agents. They know information that can make your life much easier and are able to provide you with quotes that are tailor made for your circumstances. This is much better than getting a general insurance package from a large no-name broker who has no idea what exists in your area. This isn’t to say that general packages might not be suitable to some individuals, however, in most cases, local insurance agents make sure their customers have their needs met specifically, with no song and dance or run around.

Insurance agents advice comes free and if you don’t want to buy a policy from them – so be it. They are not there to “sell ” you something; they are there to make sure you get what you need. If they sold people something that didn’t work, you can bet they would not have too many happy customers. If you want to know if your agent has a good “rep,” just check how long they’ve been in business. They longer their history, the better the chances are that they know what they are doing, and will also stand behind you in the event of an insurance dispute.

Health insurance is a fairly straightforward concept defined as individual health insurance plans offered by Florida insurance carriers. At Florida Healthcare Insurance, they offer a wide selection of plans suited to your individual circumstances and budget. They know what it’s like working within a budget, and they work closely with clients to make sure they get what they need at a price they can afford.

Generally speaking, there are two main categories of individual health insurance policies. Those two are disability insurance and major medical insurance. The major medical offers fairly wide coverage for just about all types of illnesses and injuries – however, some conditions are excluded so ask what those are. It’s always a smart thing to know what the fine print of any health insurance policy says. That way no one gets caught unaware later.

Disability insurance, which is also at times called income replacement, offers insurance coverage for a period of time when you people are unable to work as a result of disability, illness or severe injury. Again, fairly straightforward, but make sure to ask lots of questions so there is no misunderstanding about what the various plans offer. Florida Healthcare Insurance fills people in on all the details pertaining to the plans they may be considering and how those plans apply to their situations.

People need to know that if they are buying an individual health insurance policy, they are usually more expensive when compared to group insurance. However, that doesn’t mean they are out of sight. Know how to shop all insurance carriers and find a price that fits just about any budget.

Other things to consider when choosing a health insurance plan that is right is the available selection of government services, etc. Sometimes combining a health insurance plan with these other options means even greater savings.

Finding health insurance when self-employed is not easy and Florida Healthcare Insurance understands that. They know about trying to find a health insurance plan that suits certain situations and budgets. Rest easy, at Florida Healthcare Insurance they not only know how to find the best plans, but are able to find the best prices as well. Now that’s peace of mind.

Florida small business health insurance policies are actually a lot easier to qualify for than individual health insurance. This is applicable even if people are not 100% healthy. A small business is a company with at least 2 employees, but not more than 50 (yes, one of them can be a spouse). Florida Healthcare Insurance handles the details to meet the circumstances.

There are certain eligibility requirements and one of them is that the company must have a legitimate business with legitimate employees. That means asking for business documentation, hours of work, place of work, name of employees, etc. People like the arrangement of having their own company health insurance for its many advantages and for the lower financial risks for plan members. The best part about this type of policy? Lower premiums and wider coverage for small business.

Worried about pricing? Don’t be, Florida Healthcare Insurance has that under control as well and shops all their major carriers to get the best prices. In general, the cost of Florida small business health insurance is based on a standard rate – meaning the average of the risk associated with each insured in the total group. Of course pre-existing medical conditions will make a difference in the rates, so be sure to discuss that with an agent.

Every time you turn around, it seems the rules have changed again as they apply to your health insurance. The reason for this is the jumble of corporate entities that run the health insurance system and don’t seem to talk to one another.

Any time the subject of health insurance comes up in polite conversation, there is always a heated debate over the existing system and what to do to fix it – if it can even be fixed. Currently Americans have a cumbersome health care system that is long overdue for a serious tune-up.

Any tune-ups would directly affect you as the health system user and it’s your tax dollars that keep the system going. So this means when the price of all the services in the system starts to creep up – again – people avoid using it because they can’t afford it. Not an ideal state for things to be in; that’s for sure.

Some of the problem with today’s health insurance system is the overall way it’s being run. If you stand back and take an objective look, you will notice right away there are too many big honchos with big salaries trying to steer the boat. This makes one wonder who is really in charge, since the big guys don’t tend to have hands-on experience with the actual realities of health insurance. They tend to be the paperwork people who make decisions in a vacuum most days; decisions that don’t seem to take into consideration that health insurance is supposed to be for people who need it and deserve it.

Many of the big name health insurance companies want money, and why wouldn’t they? They are running a business. That’s the major problem, all the separate companies don’t want to work with each other because they are too busy competing to pay attention to their customers’ needs. If you want to see cutthroat competition, then just watch several major health insurance companies vie for business.

Here is something else you need to know about the current health care system. The U.S. spends more, per capita, on health care than any other nation in the world. Hello? Why does that happen? It happens because Americans are seriously over-using the system (actually abusing it) by utilizing it like a doctor’s office for colds when the health insurance system was supposed to be for life’s major health care emergencies.

If you think what we have now for a health system is in rough shape, wait for the future. The U.S. health system is intimately tied to the economy of the country and let’s get serious here, the economy is not in great shape and may take a long time to get sorted out. The basic equation here is this: if the economy is in rough shape then so is the health system.

It’s up to each individual health care consumer to do something to make a difference in this system. We need to take more responsibility for our own health, make better wellness choices, support well thought out economic changes for the country, and work together instead of against each other.

Usually right around the start of every year it’s time to take a look at what you have in place for health insurance. 2009 is upon us and it only makes good sense to plan in advance for 2010 because you know, without a doubt, health insurance plans change every year — whether you like it or not.

During the year to come, you may be visiting your doctor and s/he tells you to stop taking a certain drug and take another one instead. When that happens, you might find out that a different drug plan may suit you better than what you currently have. Say you have a medical advantage plan, but it looks like drug plan coverage might be better. Rather than trying to make decisions before you need to, talk to a competent local health insurance agent and ask them to help you re-evaluate what you may need for the future.

There is also the distinct possibility you have been told the drug you are currently taking has been discontinued and replaced with something else. That particular drug which was discontinued may have been a brand name drug, which would mean the price you paid for it would be higher. This might be the best time for you to check out generic alternatives. Saving on your health insurance expenses is not only smart, it’s an absolute necessity in today’s recession.

Let’s face it, everyone we know is on a budget and trying to count every nickel and dime they earn. If you can save money buying generic drugs, then that’s money in your pocket and not in the deeper pockets of big drug manufacturers — and that can only be a good thing.

So in addition to a health insurance agent that really knows what they’re talking about, go online and find the government Medicare website. It’s chock-full of great information about various drugs and plans in which you are able to participate.

Make it a point to shop around for better Medicare supplement rates. Shopping around will save you money over the long-term, and although the plans themselves are the same across the nation, the prices various health insurance companies offer will vary.

The best thing you can do for your health and for the future is to talk to a local health insurance agent and find out what you may do to make changes to your health insurance coverage.
