Connecticut State Representative Andy Fleischmann (D-West Hartford) has introduced legislation that would require one of the 15 members of the Connecticut\u2019s Medical Examining Board to be a patient advocate. \u201cVirtually every case that comes before the board for review is one where patients have been injured by doctors,\u201d Fleischmann told the Public Health Committee. \u201cPatients currently have no voice, and that must change.\u201d<\/p>\n
His bill also mandates that the board must investigate and take action within six months after a complaint is filed and notify the chief state attorney if the doctor has violated any laws.
