It had to happen. Once thought to be the bee\u2019s knees for healthy teeth, Americans are now getting too much fluoride.<\/p>\n
No one is quite sure why people would think that if a small amount is good, that a bigger amount is better. Take the case of fluoride in America\u2019s water supplies. Having fluoride in the water was once touted as the be all to end all to help keep people\u2019s teeth healthier. Now, there is too much, thanks to mouthwashes and rinses with fluoride and toothpaste and other products made with fluoride.<\/p>\n
You would think that it might a good thing to have lots of fluoride to protect teeth. The problem is that too much fluoride is not protecting teeth. In fact, kids are developing ugly splotches on their pearly whites and developing other, more serious problems.
