Three people were killed and several others injured in a multi-vehicle crash<\/a> on the Long Island Expressway in Queens. According to police, the driver of a 2010 Infiniti sedan was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a guardrail just before 4:00 a.m. The Infiniti was torn in two; three people were ejected from the vehicle. One half of the vehicle slammed into a second car. After a dump truck exiting the LIE slammed on its brakes to avoid the crash, three trailing cars slammed into one another. The crashes prompted authorities to close the eastbound lanes for nearly four hours. The three ejected passengers were pronounced dead at the scene; two survivors in the Infiniti were hospitalized, one in critical condition.
