<\/a>There are specialties that come out of law school. Just many who come out of medical school \u2013 usually you do not have a general practice of law; you often specialize in something, or if you have a general practice, you have several attorneys in that practice who each have their own specialties.<\/p>\nIn some of these specialties, you can receive certification; in others you do not. But is it really that important to be certified in a particular specialty?<\/p>\n
In some areas of law, the certification is nice but not always necessary because that type of law is so commonly practiced that everyone who practices it for some amount of time can become very competent and trusted.<\/p>\n
But in the area of elder law, that area geared toward seniors in terms of estate planning, long-term care and issues involving assisted-care or nursing home facilities \u2013 is a very different animal.
