Sixty-two Michigan veterans got the chance to visit the World War II Memorial when the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight flew them to Washington, D.C. on June 2.<\/p>\n
It was the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight\u2019s third flight to Washington in what marks the tenth year of the free trip in Michigan. It allowed some of the state\u2019s 660,000 veterans to visit the monument that honors them, a trip that otherwise may not have been possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a way for these gentlemen to get a hug back from America. We wouldn\u2019t be where we are today if it wasn\u2019t for what they did. So, I couldn\u2019t find a better way to thank them,\u201d Mid-Michigan Honor Flight hub director Patricia Donegan said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The veterans traveled with their guardians, who paid $500 to sponsor the flight.
