This week, Insure.com, the self-proclaimed independent consumer insurance website, released its list of Best Insurance Companies<\/a> based on customer satisfaction rankings.\u00a0 The company surveyed 3,835 customers of 15 large insurers in auto, home, and health insurance, and 14 in life insurance.<\/p>\n

The survey asked about:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. customer service<\/li>\n
  2. claims satisfaction<\/li>\n
  3. value for price paid<\/li>\n
  4. percent who plan to renew<\/li>\n
  5. percent who would recommend the company<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Based on their responses, the top auto insurance companies were:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. USAA<\/li>\n
    2. State Farm<\/li>\n
    3. Farmers<\/li>\n
    4. GEICO<\/li>\n
    5. Auto Club of Southern California<\/li>\n
    6. Nationwide<\/li>\n
    7. Liberty Mutual<\/li>\n
    8. Allstate<\/li>\n
    9. American Family<\/li>\n
    10. The Hartford<\/li>\n
    11. Erie Insurance Group<\/li>\n
    12. Progressive<\/li>\n
    13. MetLife<\/li>\n
    14. Travelers<\/li>\n
    15. Mercury General<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      It’s important to note, having sued drivers covered by most of these companies, I would have a different ranking.\u00a0 My ranking would largely be focused on what company is most reasonable in willing to admit when their drivers caused a problem, and who are willing to protect their customers by making fair settlement offers when their customers do something wrong.<\/p>\n
