Upon hearing the term \u201cservice animal,\u201d most people automatically envision guide dogs for the visually impaired.\u00a0 Dogs have also been trained to help individuals prone to seizures.\u00a0 But are other types of animals permitted to be used as service animals? \u00a0Our municipal clients had to answer this question recently.<\/p>\n
For instance, many cities have local ordinances preventing residents from keeping or raising chickens on property within the city.\u00a0 However, are those individuals permitted to keep chickens on their property if they are being used as \u201ctherapy\u201d chickens?\u00a0 For example, to provide therapeutic benefits for special needs children.<\/p>\n
