A Michigan factory worker was killed when a five-ton piece of equipment fell on him.<\/p>\n
The man, whose name withheld by police at the request of family members, was 42 years old and employed at MollerTech in Shelby Township. At about 1 p.m. on a recent Thursday, the man was working on a crane when a large die \u2013 a mold for forming building materials \u2013 fell on top of him and trapped him beneath.<\/p>\n
Police and firefighters responded to the scene and attended to the employee, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Shelby Township Fire Chief James Swinkowski said that the accident was still under investigation and that it was unclear how it happened, but they saw no indication of foul play.<\/p>\n
Ingo Pridoehl, Mollertech’s commercial director, told reporters that the employee’s family were in the company’s thoughts and prayers.
