Lindsey Combs, a 32-year-old hairdresser, was killed in her driveway when a trailer, hooked to the back of a truck hauling gravel to a city project, fell over onto her car, crushing her to death. Her 4-year-old daughter watched on from nearby as it happened. Combs was two months pregnant at the time of the accident.
According to the police, Combs had been asked to move her vehicle just moments before the gravel truck toppled over onto her car. Law enforcement were at a loss to understand what happened, as the brakes had not locked, the load was not oversize or over-weight, and the truck operator had more than 25-years experience working a large rig and an impeccable safety record with no violations.
