Tampa social security and disability attorney, David W. Magann has a lot to celebrate. Recently he opened his third office in the Tampa Bay area located on Bayshore Boulevard to serve the South Tampa area and had his 1,400th social security hearing.
Magann has been practicing social security law for 14 years and has been active in many community organizations. After his 1,400th hearing Magann explained what this milestone meant to him.
“I am proud that I have been able to help so many people get the support they need throughout my career,” said Tampa social security lawyer, David W. Magann.
“A lot of people that are in desperate need of assistance from social security or supplemental security income try to handle their claim without an attorney. During that long process, they often end up acquiring more debt and expenses. It’s not something you should try by yourself.”
Magann recently used his blog and social profiles to lash out at non-lawyer social security services that he feels takes advantage of people that are already facing difficult times.
“Many of these cases have come into my office after working with a non-lawyer service advertised on television or the radio. A lot of these people thought they were calling a law firm when they dialed the number but ended up with someone who was not qualified to represent them,” Magann said.
The social security and supplemental security income (SSI) application process is complicated and often can take months. The process includes forms, interviews, hearings, and there are often doctor’s appointments. The complex process opens many opportunities for errors if a claim is left in the hands of a novice.
“I can not stress enough how important it is to work with a real attorney on your social security or SSI case,” Magann said. “If you trust your future livelihood with a non-lawyer service, you will be trusting someone that does not have to follow the same strict rules imposed on a licensed attorney. That means they don’t have to meet the same high ethical standards that I do.”
