Flooring That Almost Glows In The Dark

Looking for Tampa flooring that will light up your life and your home? Consider porcelain.

Why not consider porcelain when it comes to updating your home’s Tampa flooring? It may be a surprising choice, because you think of porcelain as something the bathtub is made out of. Well, it’s true, the bathtub and the toilet are usually made out of porcelain, but porcelain is also a type of ceramic. It is durable, tough and sturdy, not to mention, in most instances, twice-fired.

Porcelain is different, because of its composition, density and its translucent appearance; a look that may brighten up any room you may have in mind. The reason it has such luminosity is that light passes through the surface and then diffuses. It is almost eerie, but has a lovely touch of beauty that makes any room just about glow in the dark.

While porcelain is made of clay, just like many other ceramics, it also has feldspar in it – a crystal-like mineral that makes the finished product, the porcelain, even more translucent. It is a great choice of flooring for something totally different in your home and a real conversation piece. The nice gleam you will get with this kind of tile will make it look like the floor was just recently polished. True enough, many people like to use this kind of tile in laundry rooms, bathrooms and kitchens, but really, creatively speaking, you could use it in other areas as well.

If you want something that is durable, this would be a good choice for you, since it is far denser that other ceramic tiles. This means its potential in high traffic areas is superior and it will take a beating and still look good. It will not chip on you, either. And, if you want to do something completely different, then consider putting porcelain tiles on your walls. Why? Well, in part, porcelain is acid-based, which means bacteria and molds do not like it and do not hang around. The fact is, that is why you see porcelain tiles in hospitals.

Like warm feet in the winter and cool feet in the summer? Porcelain is the best selection for either season, as it warms and cools rapidly, typically staying around room temperature. And, when it comes to color, there is no problem matching the tiles should you chip or break one inadvertently. Why not go for something different and think porcelain for your next home upgrade?
